i love how apart from amazing art you create such compelling stories with your videos. I remember the video where you bought the 100 year old sketchbook off ebay and I think I watched that video like 5 or 6 times all the way through. Maybe it's your voice idk it's just super easy to listen to

Have you ever tried using a spray bottle and wetting down your acrylic paint on the pallet? It makes it easier to blend and apply, especially on walls. I did a mural at my local museum and it helped me blend my colors much easier!

Thats genius! I usaly take a clean brush and use it to wet the paint on the canvus.

Thankfully, art rarely requires perfect circles or straight lines! Give it a shot!

Rae, you should never, N.E.V.E.R listen to those disparaging voices. I have them too, and boy do they ever suck every morsel of joy out of life! You are an awesome and incredible artist. I could never, ever accomplish anything close to the Creation of Adam hun. You are such a good artist. You battled the voices in your mind, an unprimed wall, bumps, lumps, and shifty dimples in the wall, and fatigue too, and yet look what you produced! That cloth over the crotch was a good idea hun. Now your art is age appropriate lol. Seriously tho, this was a fine piece of work so be happy coz ya done good ok hun. Don't listen to haters coz they couldn't do better!
This is absolutely amazing. Having been in the Sistine Chapel, it's crazy that the creation of adam is just 1 of... idk, 70 paintings in that room alone. I personally love the guy getting his bits bitten off by a snake above the door on the Last Judgement
Turned out great! Rae discovered gesso isn't just for color, it's like the primer to grab onto the paint. I bet even wall primer would have worked better than just trying to paint over the eggshell finish that's meant to KEEP stuff (dirt, fingerprints) from sticking. Doing proper prep always saves time and angst later!
I need just 5% of this woman's dedication to finish all my unfinished paintings

The wall texture actually makes it look better, even though you said it made it more challenging

Idk why but whenever i paint and add the colours in then add the shading its so SATISFYING like the blending is just SOOOOO SATISFYING!
I’m glad you are including prep time. Prep is sooo important to art. I think you could turn the raw video footage into an ASMR video diary. Sooo much work and I love it. It’s also turning into a bit of a “how to” video for the people who are considering a mural in their home.

That inner voice is relentless. Unlike most of us mortals, you moved forward and persisted until you finished your masterpiece. Hopefully, I can learn from your experience and stop my inner voice of doubt so i can move forward, as you. Fantastic!
I feel you so hard on the negative self talk thing. My therapist tells me that I need to test myself the way I would treat a friend. It's so hard to do, but it's about forming new habits, and I think we both can do it.
That being said, the mural turned out amazing.
I started watching Rae 3 years ago, and to this day, she inspires me. I love how she keeps things real, shares her struggles, and yet always makes such great artwork. Whenever I feel demotivated, I watch her videos and get so much inspiration

Lmao when my fam and I were looking for a house to buy we had a house in mind that had a mural in the stairwell down to the basement. My parents insisted we would get rid of it and paint over it. Thankfully we didn't get that house lmao it was a good mural.
