You do. It's very common in the eastern provinces I heard it so often and it is the key distinguisher from some US accents. My Torontonian friend Jake is a big 'a booter'. his wife too and son, and friends.
The problem is that the mic is too far away - the volume isn't bad, but there's a shitload of echo being recorded, which could've been avoided if they placed the mic closer (preferably as close as possible, just out of frame)... Just a tip for everyone out there posting vids. My gift to you. XD
"Just pop some snags on the barbie for when the rellies come for a feed at lunch and grab some goon to hang on the hills hoist and make it a dead set Aussie gatho!" Can you translate this Karina?? Haha :p great video! xx
Just put some sausages on the BBQ for when the relatives arrive for lunch and grab some boxed wine to hang on the clothing line to make it a typical Australian gathering! Hahahahaha how did I do???
The "famous" Canadian accent came from Upstate New York. After the American Revolution, thousands of loyalists fled from Upstate NY and settled in Upper Canada (Ontario). The accent used today is still nearly the same. If you were a visitor to Watertown, New York and Kingston Ontario you probably would not be able to hear much of a difference. Oddly enough, if you put an Upstate New Yorker and someone from Kingston, Ontario in the same room they would both claim that they could hear the differences. All you really need is to hear them both say the word "sorry". Australians have an accent much closer to those heard in the UK.
I love watching people try to sound Aussie. It’s quite funny because apparently it’s really hard to accomplish and they can’t get it right. Idk just love it :))
The Aussie accent (especially the word 'mate') comes from the old pirate-like speak from way way back in the day. Its essentially drunk shipman's talk.
+Chloé Loulous where I am from in Canada ( Southern Ontario ) we say about like ab-out, and some people ( I do ) tend to say sorry, while Americans, from personal experience, tend to say sarry, hope this helped
+j3rkinm4 What I was trying to say was I think the Canadian accent sounds more like the British accent in comparison to the American accent. Of course the Aussie accent is even more so than that.
Your hair is gorgeous
+♡ Ashley Dawn ♡ Aww thank youuu! x
she did really well with the aussie accent. I'm Australian btw too 😊
Carrie Bizz aww thanks haha :)
Yes she did. Eyes close would have passed as a fair dinkum aussie sheila.
oi yeah nah truuue
Same
I'm American and I can't distinguish American and Canadian accents
It's in the 'about' sound like 'a boot' for Canucks.
so is it more about different ways of pronouncing than actual different accents?
You do. It's very common in the eastern provinces I heard it so often and it is the key distinguisher from some US accents. My Torontonian friend Jake is a big 'a booter'. his wife too and son, and friends.
Reku Heims the short o, and long i in american comes out to us canadians as aw or ar without the r. Do americans have or sound? Or
Clement Ng I'm pretty sure there's never a time when there's an r and we don't pronounce it in American.
Am I the only one who thinks then they look like brother and sister? both super pretty
+Jassi Jasmin Hahaha definitely not brother and sister but thank youuu xx
+Jassi Jasmin i know!! they have the same smile and nose, and just have a really similar face lol it is crazy!
Jassi Jasmin yes same here, no offence to them, they would be so cute as siblings ❤ such a beautiful connection
Jassi Jasmin yeh like I knew straight off the bat he was Aussie but they still looked related in a way
I was gonna say this lol they look SO alike!! Same mouth, same nose, same eyes.. It's crazy that they aren't related at all!
she was really good at the aussie accent without sounding too bogan
I found the Australian accent looks like a french canadian who learn english. He pronouced his A like we do in French ☺
they pronounce A like it has to be pronounced. Remember, the alphabet is latin, and all romance languages pronounce A the way he pronounces, haha
i like the video but the music is so loud :(
The problem is that the mic is too far away - the volume isn't bad, but there's a shitload of echo being recorded, which could've been avoided if they placed the mic closer (preferably as close as possible, just out of frame)... Just a tip for everyone out there posting vids. My gift to you. XD
Agreed. Some of the more subtle differences in pronunciation get lost due to the music, and their voices not loud enough.
Oh dear I need to marry myself an Australian man
I like watching your videos because it can help me to encrese my english level, thanks
I honestly thought she was the Australian and I'm Australian 😅
i could tell he was the aussie when scrolling past 😂

Your Australian accent was so good! I’m Australian and I wouldn’t have questioned it.
I'm Canadian and I pronounce "leisure" the same way as Joel does, although I've heard it pronounced the way Karina does as well.

What's the difference between a Canadian and American accent? I hear the same thing ?!😭
There are only very slight differences :) And depending on which part of each country you are from, you can have a stronger/weaker accent!
Thanks 😂
+Chloé Loulous where I am from in Canada ( Southern Ontario ) we say about like ab-out, and some people ( I do ) tend to say sorry, while Americans, from personal experience, tend to say sarry, hope this helped
+Chippy Chipman we don't (where I live ) say aboat or aboot
She doesn't have a Canadian accent, she has listened to too much American TV as a kid

GamerDares Wins IKR
Heaps of fun watching you two. We call for "morno's" now instead of "smoko". Same idea better smell.
This is adorable!
+Jessica Quinn hehe thank youuuu xx
She has a good Australian accent for someone from Canada!
You guys seem like an awesome couple! Hope you're still together 4 years later haha
It's pretty funny to see that some english words with australian accent sound like french like "dynasty", by the way you pronunce the "a" like us ^^
Traveling together for the last 4 - 5 weeks WEEKS wtf how many trips have u done in 5 weeks
Did you shoot that video in a bathroom or a public bar? Sounds like it.
Nope haha! Just a very tinny Bangkok hotel room. Sorry for the poor sound quality!
I am from canada

Love, the Australian accent!
How to teach an Australian to say "no". Funny!
th-cam.com/users/shortsZcg3HOxyVzw
Of note, she calls him a "C" at the end. (I'm Aussie, btw.)
Funny, he pronounce the words more like I would and I am from Germany :)
That was an amazing Aussie accent. You could pass as Aussie easily.
I'm British and I relate more to Joel's aussie accent haha in fact most words I pronounce like that! Weird!
Your hair!😍😍😍😍 hair tutorial? xx

I am an Australian-Canadian and this was so fun to watch!

Herbs is not pronounced with an H. It's a french word. H is silent!
The Canadian accent seems much closer to the British accent, of course love the Australian accent lmao
Than the American accent I mean, not Aus
+j3rkinm4 What I was trying to say was I think the Canadian accent sounds more like the British accent in comparison to the American accent. Of course the Aussie accent is even more so than that.
I didn't know we say "Dinasty"
The music is too loud
I'M AUSTRALIAN!
