I’m from NY and every time I do an Aussie accent I guess I do the Adelaide accent? I love saying words ending in the “oh” sound, there’s so much character. And her explaining that you guys put the R sound on the beginning of the second word when In between vowel sounds kinda blew my mind. It’s something intuitive to the native speaker but I wouldn’t have picked that up. “The cah Ris over there” makes it a lot easier to imitate the accent honestly. Idk why the fuck I’m here, I do an Aussie accent maybe 2-3 times a year haha.

It took me 18 months to say "No," like my fellow Victorians which is like you've described Sydney but with a hint upspeak. It's so weird how Aussies can fit so many vowel sounds into a two letter word.

But you taught the "nori" and "doint" sounds which I never noticed and I appreciate you opening my eyes to it! And now that I think about it, "don't" is like "dorint". But wow this helped me connect with the accent and you made it so so understandable and fun and gave such easy to remember and convenient mnemonic words. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu!

That's a great example of different Aussie dialects. Being a New South Welshman I've often tried to pick out where people come from around OZ. I'll pay more attention to the no sounds now. Though for I sec I thought the Sydney no sounded a little more like a Queenslander. Your standard voice is very nice to listen to. Quite soft.

The 'linking r' is pronounced when a written 'r' is followed by a vowel sound, not only between vowels. For instance the word 'Australia' you pronounce the /r/ even though it is not between vowel sounds.

I was born in Sydney, and after 31 years there I moved to Adelaide where I have lived for 37 years. Early on I was picked up on my pronunciation of 'school' and 'pool' as a dead giveaway that I was from Sydney. But I never was picked up on my pronunciation of 'no'. I wonder if I still have the Sydney 'no'. Intriguing.
I'm an Aussie and the first time I heard someone comment about us putting an R between two vowels was when Pamela Anderson was here. She said to her interviewer after they introduced her "I love how you called me Pamela Randerson". Once that was brought to my attention, I began noticing it all the time and yes, I do it myself. Just never noticed it before.
Our accent is very difficult,it takes mimicking,there are some funny American Comedians for example Arj Barker,he has gotten pretty good at our accent,because he come here to Australia a lot and has very close mates here,and true Sydney siders do say their "No" like that,lol….I love the Boston accent,it reminds me of ours,they say "car" like us "Ca" ;)

I loved the detail on Sydney v Adelaide. You taught me something with that. Great value! And so I'm curious. Is there a regionalised pocket of Cultivated accent from Adelaide or the Adelaide Hills (I'm thinking here of Alexander Downer), similar to pockets of the Western Districts of Victoria (Malcolm Fraser)? One point for improvement, you said "PR". Perhaps you meant "RP" as in Received Pronunciation.
The Aussie accent is one of the hardest for foreigners to speak as most actors sound British and only a a few can actually do it right.

I was born in Sydney, and after 31 years there I moved to Adelaide where I have lived for 37 years. Early on I was picked up on my pronunciation of 'school' and 'pool' as a dead giveaway that I was from Sydney. But I never was picked up on my pronunciation of 'no'. I wonder if I still have the Sydney 'no'. Intriguing.
I'm an Aussie and the first time I heard someone comment about us putting an R between two vowels was when Pamela Anderson was here. She said to her interviewer after they introduced her "I love how you called me Pamela Randerson". Once that was brought to my attention, I began noticing it all the time and yes, I do it myself. Just never noticed it before.
Our accent is very difficult,it takes mimicking,there are some funny American Comedians for example Arj Barker,he has gotten pretty good at our accent,because he come here to Australia a lot and has very close mates here,and true Sydney siders do say their "No" like that,lol….I love the Boston accent,it reminds me of ours,they say "car" like us "Ca" ;)

And so I'm curious. Is there a regionalised pocket of Cultivated accent from Adelaide or the Adelaide Hills (I'm thinking here of Alexander Downer), similar to pockets of the Western Districts of Victoria (Malcolm Fraser)?
One point for improvement, you said "PR". Perhaps you meant "RP" as in Received Pronunciation.
I've spoken the damn language (dialect) all my life, and I have learnt something!
