You can buy brackets and accessories for play structures at the big box stores ( just add your own wood). We’ve had three types of play structures and the one we built ourselves was the sturdiest with the accessories the kids liked the most. I highly recommend doing that. I like the space you showed for it. You can see it from the house, yet having the trees around probably will give a feeling of privacy and shade/wind block for kids playing.

Coffee in hand, cozy in bed! Long garden tours are my ABSOLUTE favorite! Even though they still they go by so fast. I know you worry about the videos being too long but I really think your audience would be more than happy to watch a long TH-cam live or even just a super long tour with time to see all the little details. Can’t wait to see Fall and Christmas. You both just blow me away with your talent and hard work! Thank you again for all you do!

I love the long garden tours!! When you said, "Maybe we'll just end right here" my thought was "No!!! Wait...did she say "bonus footage?! Yes!"
It's always fun to see Benjamin and Russell join you. 👶🏻😸 I think Benjamin's first word will be "supertunia." 😉 It's such a pleasure to tour your gorgeous gardens and see the results of all of your hard work. 👏 to you and Aaron. #teamgardenanswer

Love, love, love these tours. I so enjoy seeing how beautiful it is turning out for y'all. Guilty, I'm a Texans born and bred. I had a wooden swing & climbing set that was awesome for my brood (5- 4 boys & a girl) & yes she was the second oldest so she ran the show & still does. LOL But back to the swing set they loved it. Robert could keep it fixed & plus he added stuff like a climbing net & then later a climbing wall, a fort or a tea house for our girl. Then back into a fort for the boys again. Our grand kids still played on it & now the great-grand babies are all most big enough for it. Just good maintenance on it. We started with grass, that turned into mud puddles. Then we went with play sand & that was pretty good, no really bad falls or broken bones. But now we are putting down that rubber mulch my kids told us about. So we will see. But I think you chose a great spot. Line of sight is crucial with boys. They are so curious about things. My second oldest boy loved to take things apart. That was a learning curve I could have done without. It cost us a pretty penny to have the fire department & the gas company come out and evacuate our block & for the gas company to reassemble the gas meter that Jason took apart when he was 6 years old. They were NOT happy at all. Jason kept asking to help put it back together. The gas guy's were not happy. I took him over to my mom's place. Kept me hopping those boys. Oh the story's we have that we can laugh at now are priceless. God's little blessing all of them. Enjoy every day & just know how very much joy he will bring into your life. Treasure it, because you will turn around & he will be grown. So be present for all those moments, enjoy them & always, always enjoy every why! There will be a million of them so be ready. Lol Thank you for letting us into you life & home. We love watching every thing grow, Benjamin also.
    Xoxoxo!

My first time visiting your site-I feel like I've found a kindred spirit with a whole COMMUNITY to boot!!! I devoured the comments, too, and would say YES, please do a fountain video. We've just started building our retirement cottage on an upper ridge of our property, so I've got a BLANK SLATE. Not quite your zone-we're 7b in upstate SC, but just watching 2 of your vids so far, you've given me TONS of ideas. And sweetie, I'm a Laura, too!!

I love that you show the progress in the garden! I think it helps everyone to see how things mature throughout the season. I KNOW it helps me lol. I have so many plans for my garden next year because of your videos! Thank you ! Your gardens are stunning ! And I love seeing Benjamin! I think the spot you chose for his play set is perfect. You will be able to sit in the gazebo and watch him play as he gets older.

I am addicted to watching this girl!! She reminds me of my green-thumb college roommate, who moved to Anchorage right after college (as a Forestry major) and wins "garden" contests in magazines. My garden consists of a fire escape outside a New York City apartment. I would love to have a house like that...but not sure I have the patience. Came to her site due to bud worms in my petunias... LOVE this channel!!

Best mornings ever when I see Garden Answer has a new video up, especially a garden tour, doesn't get any better, I'm so amazed at how fast your plants look mature, everywhere you look is just so Gorgeous.!! You should check out the play sets at Lowe's, my daughter has a really nice wooden set from there, and maybe look into rubber mulch so there aren't any ouchies.

Perfect video length for a large cup of coffee. Thanks. Didn't put a play set in our yard because we lived very close to a public one. How about some natural play structures like grassy hills, teepee trellises with runner beans, climbing stones etc.? The idea has taken over many daycare, early school and park green spaces in our city. On the other extreme, a mini man cave???😃

Beautiful! Have you heard of Doug Tallamy? You’ll have lots more pollinators, especially butterflies, if you give them the specific native plants that they can eat as caterpillars. Most all Lepidoptera are specialists when it comes to the host plant for their caterpillars. They usually can’t eat anything else, so without their host plant(s), they can’t reproduce.

Looking back ,it's now end of November 2023. So much change. Two children,Benjamin an Samantha Grace, three kitties, more huge parcels of land, new brick or stone pathways,a Baby Grand,a Hartley green house, an aquascape pond with patio ,lights, fire pit, so many changes an it all is so amazing. Looking back to now,so much planning and hard work. The most recent property is going to be the woodlands. Over a hundred trees planted this year. Future stables and horses maybe. Her ability to plan an imagine the future look as trees grow and things fill in is amazing. Been watching for three years, wish I had started sooner. That way I would have more done, and things would be more mature. She motivates me. Tho I have many trees and flowering shrubs I planted 40 years ago, I basically quit at that point. A few flower pots from the big box stores each year to put here and there, to brighten up the front porch and back patio, was it. Now I realize I have an acre I can make so much more beautiful. So I've been working on it. Even a vegetable garden that produced so much,I canned and froze enough for a year, and still had enough to share with neighbors. Laura motivates me like nobody else can.

Hey Laura! Your property is looking great. A suggestion for Benjamin's play area would be to put in some sort of circular/oval smooth path where he can ride around his play set on his tricycle (bike with training wheels later). Gravel driveways would be hard to negotiate and unsafe. What little boy doesn't like to pretend he is riding a dirt bike?

Your garden is just beautiful !! A small suggestion of what you can do next year to the pots in front of the barn is to fill the bamboo with fall ornamental gourds in different varieties .

Laura, swing n slide. Premium play set. We use it almost everyday with 3 kids on at the same time and have no worries of stability. Birthday parties the set has upward of 10 kids with no worries! Survived a hurricane as well!

In addition to a playset, I might suggest an animal sculpture designed by local artist Paula Zima somewhere in the garden/lawn area for Benjamin and friends to climb on and around. They are licensed by Sportrock Intl.
which include a horse, gecko, fish, turtle and a dog

So glad you’ve got sweet autumn clematis in your landscape! Such a beautiful vine. Down here in south Mississippi it grows wild and this time of the year it’s looking like drifts of snow!

You have so much water pipes out in your yard, put a small drinking fountain for Benjamine. Remember when we were all kids playing out side we always needed water to drink. This way he can play with it some and not drown, like why you took pond out!! Lol. Kids love water. Drinking Fountain is practical and functional. And fun!!

Good Morning, speaking of the area for Benjamin's play set. If you have someone in your area that builds play set have them use pressure treated wood or maybe you can stain it the color you used for your veggie garden. I have a play set that was built to my liking with a fort (almost identical to my house) for my boys over 15 years ago with pressure treated wood and it still looks good as new. My boys have outgrown but it still looks beautiful in my yard. (sometimes they use the monkey bars to exercise on)

Laura! You have such great energy. It's wonderful to watch you talk about your gardens. And YES, as so many others have said, you don't need to worry about the length of the videos. I just watched your hour plus June tour from last year, and I put this one on right afterwards. My gardening style is a lot messier than yours (you'd hate my edges! they kind of don't exist; I like the grass to grow right into the beds, horrors :p ) but I LOVE seeing your beautiful gardens, getting ideas, and learning from you. Thank you and Aaron so much.

Rainbow brand makes GREAT play sets! Most of their sets are made of cedar wood, and lifetime warranty. Expensive, but so worth it. They have tons of different sets, you can mix up areas like remove the rock climbing wall and add the net climber, get a straight slide now and when your son is a little older, add the swirly slide, etc.
    I envy your gardens! ❤❤❤😍😍😍

Playground coming! How fun. My kids have lived on the trampoline with a sprinkler in the summer and in a dry patch of dirt when it’s colder. They dig it up and have toy diggers etc. I’m sure a sandpit would have the same effect. But I like the dry dirt because when they grow up, I’ll just cover it over with grass. Easy! Swing sets are great too, but not quite as popular with my kids. Kids just love exploring nature, so Benjamin has plenty to keep him occupied!
