Eminent Domain... beware. We had a township supervisor say "oh no, no one wants to put a drainage ditch through your area"..... fast forward 3 yrs..... Welcome drainage ditch....
I know. We live by a river in our town. We decided to give a little of our land to the city for a bike/walking path to be put in. They took more than we thought they were going to take. The premise that we were told is that they were going to keep it maintained and keep the weeds down. Well, they might cut the weeds down once a year right next to the path, but they don’t take care of the hill leading to our property. I was maintaining it before we sold it. When I was younger and able, I planted some flowers, but as I got older, I couldn’t keep up with it. Now, I just sprinkle some of my flower seeds over there and some do come up. So be aware, you just can’t trust the city. They do what they want to do.
They are believing what one person told them. They don’t understand that the entire board of supervisors can vote on putting a road right through their property. The county doesn’t consider how you feel about it. I’ve seen it happen.
Hi Laura and Aaron! I know you get so many comments thanking you for gardening inspiration but I wanted to let you know that this video in particular helped me get motivated for the new year. For some reason I don’t have my usual excitement to look at the coming year and imagine all the possibilities. This video inspired me to “get in the spirit” by looking back at my year and seeing all I have accomplished. Thanks for being a continued source of uplifting and inspirational content.
If I was to pick ONE amazing video in 2022, which is hard, It would be when Laura decorated the church stage. Girlfriend, I was thoroughly amazed at what you can do. It always amuses me when y’all talk about your weather. Highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s is not my idea of pleasant. 😂 That was our temps during the Arctic blast that just passed and it was our coldest Christmas in 30 years. Now we are back to highs in the 70s and lows in the 60s.
Hi Laura, just watch your last recap video and as an interior designer, my comment is on your segment regarding the piano room and the moldings, love Rob Lowe‘s house… And I love your comments to others about “you do you - I’m gonna do me “ and that’s what I tell my clients… this is your home, you do what you want to do - it’s Ok about the previous owner and keeping the molding stained, if you guys love those crisp white moldings (which I do,) paint them, and in 40 years if you ever move, someone else can do what they love…. And I love the idea of just doing some simple curtain panels that will add color, pattern, texture, I finally did some custom ones in my own house after doing them and many clients houses and it really personalizes the space to be your own. PS… I love the shopping trips with your mom and sister, the lunches, and crafts… But then again, I’m not a hard-core garden person like some of your other viewers, so thank you for pleasing all of us, Like Aaron has said - if you don’t like todays episode don’t watch it. My husband and I do that every early morning...we call it " walking the 40" ( acres)...that is what my grandfather used to call it when he would walk the farm. While our yard is no where near the size of yours, I think of you every time I dig a hole, plant any plant or purchase a shrub..will it bring the element of color/ texture to the space that it is lacking. So thank you!! And YES dig out your knitting...it will keep your hands busy and before you know it you will have created sweaters for the whole family!!!

The videos popped up on my TH-cam suggestions from 2 years ago cutting in the new driveway (the drone shots driving the truck back and forth before the road grader arrived) and your sketches before the new lawn went in, before the orchard... would be so cool to see some fad in - fade out overlay videos and drones shots showing the before and after of the last 2 years. So fun to watch this evolution and inspiring!

I couldn’t let this year go by without mentioning a highlight of my year-getting to the Grand Garden Show with y’all, Jenny and Jerry, and Jack!!! It’s was definitely a bucket list item. Also, I know that 2023 will start out crazy because as Benjamin turns 5 and starts school, my son turns 18 (same day) and graduates high school!!! So crazy how time flies. I don't care how repetitive planting seeds is Laura, there's ALWAYS something to learn from you! Plus, I'm Northern Utah, so when you plant it, I plant it! Lol! I do plan, but it's always still helpful and I like to hear your tips. You may think it's repetitive, but it's not! I promise!

Just a thought- heard you make comments about where you park out front Suggestion maybe make and design it to have roof line like the Hartley similarities The pillers use as a trellis or plant evergreen pencil duplicate walkways as from Hartley leading to where they go Also if you two story it the deck can be used as observatory of the property surroundings and kick back to enjoy the achievements , also up there can use your hay racks for more beautiful plantings Just a thought Have a great new year anxious to see what you do PS lol I notice the barn has kinda ?able a bit of the same roof pitch as the house, maybe play off the front of it like the front of the house

I couldn’t let this year go by without mentioning a highlight of my year-getting to the Grand Garden Show with y’all, Jenny and Jerry, and Jack!!! It’s was definitely a bucket list item. Also, I know that 2023 will start out crazy because as Benjamin turns 5 and starts school, my son turns 18 (same day) and graduates high school!!! So crazy how time flies. Thank you for all you do to motivate and inspire us. Many wishes for peace and prosperity in the New Year!

Just a suggestion, but it might be kind of fun to save one of the bulb planting videos until spring and then show the planting and the result all in one.
I don't care how repetitive planting seeds is Laura, there's ALWAYS something to learn from you! Plus, I'm Northern Utah, so when you plant it, I plant it! Lol! I do plan, but it's always still helpful and I like to hear your tips. You may think it's repetitive, but it's not! I promise!

2022 brought some sad times for our family but I could always count on your videos to cheer me up and get me excited about my garden. You two accomplished so much I feel like such a slacker but I'm giving myself a pass because I'm probably almost twice your age and my husband doesn't share my joy of the garden so it's just me. The garden is my oasis and gives me peace. Looking forward to a great 2023! 💚

So much happened throughout the year and sometimes we don't recognize all we have done - I have a little garden notebook and try to list what I have purchased and planted and anything I have added to my outdoor space so I can actually remember it all. Sooo.... keeping the Hartley floor clean, maybe try a small electric leaf blower? Get a cheap one and they don't have power that a 'good' one or a gas powered one would have.

Really enjoyed the recap and seeing all of what you guys have accomplished this year. It really is so inspirational. As far as the repetitive seed starting, it may be repetitive for you but for us seed starters it is so helpful to see what you are starting, when you are starting it, and how. As you know, flower farming contains so much behind the scenes work and it's really helpful to be able to see all of those "boring steps". Thanks for another year of entertainment and inspiration! Just a thought- heard you make comments about where you park out front
Suggestion maybe make and design it to have roof line like the Hartley similarities
The pillers use as a trellis or plant evergreen pencil duplicate walkways as from Hartley leading to where they go
Also if you two story it the deck can be used as observatory of the property surroundings and kick back to enjoy the achievements , also up there can use your hay racks for more beautiful plantings
