- This week’s vlog sees us leaving Braunston and that amazing view from our mooring! We cruise our NARROWBOAT floating home with friends @onedaymoreaboard and work as a team up the double locks, and on through Braunston tunnel.
When we emerge, wow, it’s just stunning! Just look at that scenery and hear those birds! ❤️
But do we get a mooring with a view this time? 🤔
We part ways … but we will meet again!
Norton Junction is so scenic, we put the drone up to see the landscape from the air, before getting a wonderful sunset!

If you’re new to our channel, just a little introduction. We are Julie and Martin and in 2021 we sold our house and gave up our jobs, to live full time on a narrowboat. We bought our 2004 narrowboat Rhapsody in Blue in the September and have been living full time onboard ever since. We hadn’t intended on vlogging, but recorded videos for ourselves and family and it has escalated into the weekly vlogs you see today, so lovely to have you all onboard! ❤️

Great blog as always try wearing a masks when going though tunnels make most off your friends you never know when they going to be gone I'm just about to loose my second friend in two weeks both from the same cancer he loved lough at you and watching your blogs you must get that light fixed its going to be worse this week after crick though tunnels so wear a mask guys stay safe guys x

Well it shows , but it is loud . So as you said , some people do not hear the horn.
It’s funny isn’t it, even with both klaxons people still can’t hear our horn. We just make sure we are going slow so we can avoid any collision. Thanks John! xx

Great vlog. Last year we moored right there in Braunston. Great spot. Lock buddies are such a help especially those locks as they are so heavy. We’re hoping for lock buddies on our upcoming cruise. In the past lock sharing led to other boaters giving us great advice and fun conversations.

Another great vlog. I notice your windlass seems to have a ratchet feature... do tell! Where did you get that? Does it make doing locks easier?
Hi Sheila, yes it’s called a GO Windlass, it has a ratchet, so when you come across a really stiff lock paddle, you can work it easier, I wouldn’t be without mine! You can only buy them through the company and they either send it out to you, or you can collect from a couple of locations, they’re not available online or on Amazon etc. here’s the phone number I had for them 07434 987281 Thanks Sheila! xx

Why don’t they remove sunken boats from the canal?
I think they contact the owner for them to retrieve their boat, but sometimes it’s not that simple, if the owners don’t remove it, then there’s red tape to sort before CRT can intervene, and then there’s also cost …. who pays? 🤷♀️ It’s such a shame seeing sunken boats, it’s very sad xx

Lovely vlog! Like to see you all together traveling the canals but can i be controversial here: why is it the girls have to do the hard work at the locks and the boys just sit and watch?
