I think the whole "I understand why people don't like this." is a good thought to have with a lot of stuff. Especially without the immediate condescending followups that also happen. EDIT: RE feeling old: I was recently introduced to a phrase I'm going to leave here: "Would you like me to rent you a Nintendo tape?" EDIT 2: 2:10:50 Probably a lot of people. The bigger question is "how many people would be more willing to give it a go with this knowledge?" (I didn't know, but it doesn't affect my stance at all.)
Dave At 45min, "I don't want to grave rob", 10min later after finding new shinny spear - "I'm taking that" - Sometimes the even the best gamer's need to take the best items outweigh the characters narative. Either that or Antonia is a bit of a magpie when it comes to weapons! - Great stuff as always mate.
20:14 The fact that this is even possible in the game is so hilarious and amazing to me. To be *actually* able to levitate above Balmora, looking down from the clouds onto the city, casting a mad as balls spell and watching the chaos unfold. Imagine doing that with an equally powerful Frenzy spell. Arena mode unlocked.
Can attest I got so annoyed getting lost for the millionth time in sadrith mora (don’t know how when it’s one of my favorite towns in-game, unmodded anyhow), so I went and made a spell that I could reasonably assume would one-shot the entire town. It worked, however it did crash my game back in the day.
TBF I'm currently doing an orc barbarian run who can't use scrolls and dislikes all magic, so no spells, scrolls and fantasy batman gadgets. I did pick up alchemy as a minor skill as I've never really done that in morrowind before and it's actually quite fun as I really have to rely on my skills and potions and have nothing else to fall back on
I love scotch whiskey but it drops me like a stone. Tequila is ok, but it's the warm and fuzzies for hours. I've had the opposite experience with OpenMW - I had to switch because in vanilla with Graphics overhaul and Tamriel rebuilt the cities ran at like 8-10fps. In OpenMW they run just fine, even with high resolution graphics and reflections. I'm happy to hear more MWSE mods are being ported. Someday I will be able to poison arrows and use ashfall. Someday.....
"There are just some moments in life where you NEED a neat whiskey." ~~~ I could not agree more.... Granted, I actually like neat whiskey (at least good single malts and fine bourbons), but still.... sometimes whiskey just hits the spot in a way that nothing else can.
I kinda agree? I like lock bashing conceptually but I do think that only Kotor 2 has made it feel like an actual option with consequences. But also I just wish they'd go back to Morrowind lockpicking. I don't wanna play a minigame, I want my character to pick the lock, and if that means standing like a lemon in front of a chest, stabbing it with a lockpick, then so be it. I have the Oblivion mod that lets you do it (I think it's wrapped in with OOO), and honestly I kinda hate it, it takes ages to bash open a lock for me, regardless of how high my strength is, so I end up just picking the lock or using magic anyway.
The lock bash in OOO is savage. It takes a lot of hits when you have low strength, and each whack ruins the condition of your weapon. It is not worth it at low levels
Lone idea of RBG lights existance infuriates me even if they're enclosed in opaque steel case. I tried some nvidia softwere to disable them but to no vain. Lockbashing was fine in KotOR2 when it damaged random loot inside, so you could destroy unique artifacts this way. I don't use Rebirth but some standalone booze rebalance mod. Those added by TR are really op in compararation. Especially homebrew sujama, that's stronger than vanilla one by design. There are two moonshine caves I can think off with at least dozen bottles between them.
To TheDoctorFat at around 1:18:01. I cannot say I agree with that. OpenMW runs much, much better on my very subpar pc that only has the integrated Vega 7 for a graphics card. I've switched to OpenMW a long time ago and it's been a very stable, smooth experience. Yeah I'm missing out on mwse mods but there are still plenty of mods to go through that don't use that, including guilds, quests, companions, locations. Mods like TR, the Strider's Nest, Arvesa (this one, I think, isn't actually available right now, unfortunately), Rise of House Telvanni - they all work perfectly on OMW. Obviously, this all comes down to taste and what you prioritize in a game, but I think it's important to not discard OMW just because it doesn't support Morrowind's script extenders.
I hate lockpicking because it's less "we're hiding something worth it behind here" and more "the world calls for locked door so i guess players have to be able to open them." Especially with modern game design where every player expects to be able to get everywhere with any combination of skills or attributes with any character. If there were lengthy gameplay reasons to have those types of skills, it would be far more satisfying. Similar with the "climb" skill which Bethesda removed.
This running duo of BG1 and Morrowind is a genuine delight. We're spoiled.
