You have to get minimum 8 cgpa out of 10 overall in MSc and you need gate score 750.

Yes, your CGPA till last semester should be more than or equal to 8.

Any idea how does the seat allocation to a specific institute happen once after the selected candidates list is declared? What algorithm is used? In last year, did all selected candidates get admission to their first preferred institute?

You need to maintain 8 cgpa and 750 gate score. This is the requirements to get a call for interview. Selection is based on the interview.
