Hey ! In this video, I am doing a quick tutorial on how to fix the message saying that " THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE BUILD 7601". I really wanted to do this because I myself had this problem for a while and I finally found a proper fix. So, in Windows 7, due to the KB971033 Update, the windows which were not previously original, had this problem, saying this copy is not genuine. I am using CMD(cmd) to solve this. I just type in the code slmgr -rearm in cmd, and that should do the work. I also show you how to fix the problem this limist has been exceed maximum times and also the command is not recognised.

The command "slmgr -rearm" is used in Windows operating systems to reset the licensing status of the system. it resets the licensing status of the Windows operating system, effectively extending the trial period or rearming the activation timer. It's important to note that "slmgr -rearm" can only be used a limited number of times on a single machine, typically up to three times. After reaching the limit, you may need to activate your Windows installation.

I remember this from high school; I had 2 windows 7 versions. My ultimate edition had no key but my pro version had a key and didn’t realize it until after doing this 3 times. So after awhile I switched to pro that had the key.

>Open CMD
>Type *slmgr -rearm* in CMD & press enter
>& Restart your System.

>Open regedit
>Go through *Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform*
>Double Click on SkipRearm
>Change Value data 0 to 1
>& Restart your System.
>Follow 1st Step again
>👍 Done
I tried doing the second step and it said that the Command completed successfully. But the problem is still there I can't fix it :(

It actually works up until now, and I've done the process several times . I think there is an expiration for this, just like mine, I think it's 3 or 4 months and the windows gets back at not being genuine and the background screen gets black again. So I just keep on doing the process when that happens in my laptop and yeah, fortunately it works every time. Thank you!

I've had a genuine copy of Windows 7 for many years, but when I changed the HDD in my PC for an SDD I got the not genuine message. Thanks for the fix.

1.click on the start button
2.search for ' cmd '
3.right click on it
4.run it as administrator
5.write "slmgr -rearm
6.click enter
7.it will say you to restart your pc
8.after restarting your pc boom the text of 'this copy of windows is not genuine' is gone!!!

I changed the value data from 0 to 1 and restarted my computer, then i opened cmd as admin and typed slmgr -rearm, and it said that it worked and that i need to restart my computer, but when i restarted windows was still not genuine, please help.

Thank you, it worked but not from first try. At the beginning it gave me that i exceeded the limit, i handled that, afterwards tried cmd, no change happened so i tried again and it worked. So if someone else won't be able to do from first try i recommend trying one more time. Thank you so much once more : )

If it shows the error that it not recognised then do these Local disc c >Windows > system 32 > Search slmgr.vbs.removewat Rename slmgr.vbs.removewat as slmgr.vbs then click continue

I have the error: maximum allowed number of re-arm has been exceeded. You must re-install the OS before trying to re-arm again.
I tried to fix it like you showed in the video in the "regedit" then restart then try the cmd code and getting the message "command completed successfully. Please restart the system for the changes to take effect."
And when i restart my computer it's still telling me that my copy is not genuine!
Can you help me it's getting me frustrated because i tried your cmd code before and it worked fine then but i can't seem to find a solution this time.

Advice :- those who get stuck in between the % when installing the windows 10 from mediacreation tool. Dont cancel the installing process. Just remove the ethernet cable and connect it again quickly. The % will keep moving ahead. Do this step whenever it gets stucks. It works.

And so i could complete my windows 10 update after that. That's why i mentioned it. Sorry for mis-leading info (if any)

This worked for me. Then I got it again so I did this again and had to do the second part shown in the video first and then it worked. Then I got 7601 a third time. But now it won't work 😥

Do the regedit step and increase the rearm value. You can do the cmd-slmgr -rearm step again

I did the slmgr -rearm and slmgr /rearm and the windows is not genuine still shows at the bottom and i’m unable to have internet access it show that im connected but nothing
i tried slmgr -rearm , i also did the redegit thing, and i also checked for the KB971033 update. I did everything ( KB971033 isnt on my pc, redegit is set to 1 and i used the rearm comand) and it still didnt work :( .
