    To think people like Mike and Matty are giving us free and useful knowledge actually better than the way school is giving proves that we need to be like them. Mad respect. M and M army.

      Binaural itself isn't really all that healing, I definitely wouldn't just prescribe this to a patient who was suffering from severe anxiety and just send them on their way. That's why just seeing it as a sort of meditation music always made the most sense to me, after all, meditation is something you could do at any time of the day as long as you're in the mood for it.

    • @Anna-hb2se
      @Anna-hb2se 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      IMO both are really uncomfy for me and I get a huge headache. Classical/sounds of people talking (normally, none of that whispering nonsense) helps me focus, weirdly.

    • @sugarinmywounds
      @sugarinmywounds 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Anna-hb2se Same. The repetitiveness of LoFi ends up distracting me because I just get bored and annoyed, and binaural beats just feel icky. So I've found out that weirdly the type of music that gets me focusing the best is urban pop in a different language that is still familiar because I've listened to the artists alot. Right now this tends to be Italian Hiphop/RnB/Pop/Rock, and earlier I've had phases with Sámi Electropop, French Pop, and Portuguese Modern Fado-style songs.

    • @goldencookie6317
      @goldencookie6317 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I listen to binaural beats pretty often, and I think I can say that it's probably some of the background frequencies in the song itself that are throwing you off. There's definitely been plenty of times where I decided to just switch to an instrumental or an 8-hour rain video because the sounds would just mess with my brain sometimes when I'm trying to focus. Even so, I do still usually prefer binaural beats when I'm trying to relax and focus on something.

    when i was in high school many classmates were listening to music while studying, but for me, I can't focus while listening my fav songs since they are mostly very moody. Till now I'm a postgraduate, and I found lofi which is so refreshing to me as I'm a hiphop lover. I never expect lofi hiphop could be so calming since the first time I used it as a BGM for studying was when I getting stuck with tons of slides, presentations and reports to do and I was nearly pissed off.... but it suddenly calmed down my mood! It's so surprising that it has a "psychologic" effect on me lol... It kinda enhances my patience especially with boring and repeated works, while helping me to concentrate.

    I think it depends on the purpose - for chill reading or reviewing notes (see what I did there?) this is great for keeping me on track and vibing to a good mood.
    For stuff that I struggle with, don't like to do, or otherwise just really need to hyperfocus in on, binaural works better.
    So for me, it's task-specific, but again this is all individualized and conclusions are achieved through a process of trial and error. So... try it. See if it works for you, and come to your own conclusions.

    That mid-roll ad is why I started using ad blockers. Got fed up with the timing. Trying to watch a short fiction and, seconds just before or just after the climax, there's an ad. I actually kept track for a while. It was neither so many minutes or so much percentage. It was almost always around the climax. That's not an algorithm. Imagine going to the theater: "Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father." "He told me enough! He told me you killed him!" "No. *I* - " "Lets go out to the lobby! Let's get popcorn and candy! Sodas are so tasty! So go out there and buy!" I don't mind ads before or after, and I don't mind the banner ad most of the time, but the repeated interruption at a crucial point means ad blockers. It never seems to occur at a quiet point, it's almost always at the most exciting part. While incompetent marketers would think that is the best place because the ad gets the most attention, it had the effect of ensuring I don't see any ads at all and screws everyone. I have clicked on and purchased based on a TH-cam ad. Because of greed, TH-cam now gets nothing.

    I think you guys should create two different playlists for each type of the music you mentioned in this video. A playlist for binaural beats, and one for lofi music. I would really appreciate it. Thank you, and this one was a great informative video. I enjoyed it, and actually learned something. One point to improve your video quality: learn color grading and color correcting. Many of your videos are washed out. Other than that, it's mainly good. Just apply a few small changes, and voila. Have a great day.

    What an awesome and interesting video! Lofi has become my go to for studying sessions, though i also love to listen to (slow) jazz or classical music while learning or working.
    If you havent already, maybe you guys could cover these genres in a video like this as well? :D

    I don't really know if this is right but music that has lyrics is good. Definitely that kind if music isn't good at first in learning, but having to use the concept of visualization in music, it's quite a good combo.
    For example, there are terms you want to learn. Have a music you like played (does not matter if it has lyrics or not). And then use the concept of visualizing of all the words that you can imagine.
    Hope you could try this.😁

    I have listened to both lofi and binaural beats (but idk the name "binaural" beats tho) both are great but lofi is more closer to me coz sometimes binaural beats can be quite like a prayer to me lol XD but it sure helps with reducing pain 😌✨

    I really want to know about the effect of classical music on the brain as well. I'm gonna search for it. By the way, what a great video (not just the content, but the way you presented it.) Ly

    Personally, I use Lo-fi for mundane and boring chores that requires minimal focus. Or when I'm feeling down/depressed/anxious. But lofi doesn't work for me when it comes to studying, especially the knowledge retainment part of studying. Doing maths is fine, but reading fine text and retaining critical information is not optimal with lofi (for me). I discovered Binural Beats before an important exam, and it played (heh) a big part in helping me achieve good grades.

    I love listening to both lofi and binaural beats but sometimes I blast metal music 😅 Metallica's Orion would be perfect as a starter, I love how it makes you feel like you're in space, the guitars are also perfect 😗

    If anyone is also on the fence, Overwerk is so close to binaural due to the sound design, the non vocal songs put my adhd on a leash and make it pull my sled straight through my tasks

    Binaural beats are too relaxing for me bc it reminds me of ASMR since I do use ASMR to sleep. I find myself productive with lofi. I was introduced to this by a friend a few years ago and it's my go to study listening method.

    Binaural beats make feel nauseated rather than concentrated. Lo-Fi is great too, but I kind of lose focus over time and space out. I like white noise the most, it helps me concentrate and brings my mind into this 'zone', like you can't feel time cuz of how focused you are.

    One of the funniest things to come out of Stargate Universe is the heroes going to planet that is undergoing a disaster. The inhabitants had prepared shelters but eventually use the gate to leave. The heroes find a shelter and decide to check it out to see if there is anything left to salvage. They have to use an elevator and it plays pretty much the same music played in elevators on Earth. Apparently elevator music is another universal constant.
