I recently bought the cobra strike 2 instead of this one as after shooting weddings I needed the speed and the ability to change height quietly over the extra 30cm (not as tall as you 😉). I’m impressed at the build and the strength and we’ve been using Manfrotto and sirui for years and this is definitely the best monopod of the bunch. I never thought of using the opposite end though to attach devices - awesome find.

Excellent monopod video, Gerald! I'm thinking of a monopod to complement my tripods, and am considering either this IFOOTAGE Cobra C180-II (with a Leofoto VH-105 tilting head)....OR a Sirui P-324, but have heard of the following issues. Any thoughts on these alleged “issues" or which monopod is more robust?
"The Cobra 2 has a "plastic" ball joint at the base, and the 1/4 3/8 threads don't completely retract for mounting".
"The Sirui's ball joint at the base gets dirt/grit easily, making cleaning necessary more often."
    Thank you!

    Hi Gerald
Which head do you recommend for a TC6 something better than the Komodo K5? For a similar price?
    Thx

Is there a plate that fits both Cobra 2 and Ronin S? So I could switch quickly between the two.

Is it possible that the fluid head's handle is in the wrong way? (hole on the top of the screw instead of hole on the bottom)

Do you know the Sirui P204S? It's very similar to this one and many people say that it's the best Monopod ever as well. If you know it, how do you like it in comparison to the iFootage? (trying to decide between them currently. What I like about the iFootage is the quick release systems, but the Sirui has a larger foot which is important to me).

Fantastic review Gerald! You're even taller than I am! 😅 It does look like a killer monopod for pretty much all purposes.

I don't use a monopod but I have one of their slider kits and it's built like a tank. The hardware they make is top notch. The app to control the slider while it works is pretty awkward and buggy, so hopefully their software guys catch up with the great work of their hardware team.

Gerald Undone I looked around their website. Tripods I saw there looked nice if they feature the same design strengths that the Cobra monopod has. But it’d be nice to have a tripod that utilizes the Cobra quick release design on the platform/center column along with a Cobra quick release for a leg (or legs) for monopod use. Also saw that B&H and Adorama have link pictures of combos kits and feet alone kits showing dual or included quick release plates.

I just bought the 180 which is great. I just watched this video and I couldn't figure out what that little thing stuck the the side of the monopod. I wrote to iFootage and they never got back to me. Fortunately I kept and now have reattached it.

Thanks for another awesome review Gerald. Have you ever tried the Cobra 2 Strike? It has a quick twist telescoping feature for adjusting height and was wondering if you could do a comparison. The heights might not be the same, but was curious if the performance otherwise are comparable?

Damn you, now I want one. I most often use my monopod with my Gimbal attached to it. It works great as an extra stability weight when collapsed, and a great run & gun jib when extended. I love it when I need that reach.
But a Light weight carbon fibre version, with feet, that is smooth and quiet... and is light enough to use as a mic boom? And it has a mini tripod too? You’re right, what’s not to like? It’s now in my shopping cart.
I have two monopods I could sell. But one is hydraulic and has no tightening levers... I kinda like that one for speed. You put your foot on the base, squeeze the handle at the top and pull up... Poof, you’re ready. That’s pretty slick. Let’s see once my enthusiasm calms down! Hahaha 👍

Very well done review, probably the best one on TH-cam for this product. I already own the monopod and one of their tripods. I have been a pro photog for 33 years now and have tried almost every monopod on the planet. This one is the best for the money of any I have tried. I own 12 other monopods that I have gathered over the years trying to find the ultimate do it all monopod. This is it! I have Gitzo's, Manfrotto's, Giottos and some other brands but this one seems to beat all of the others now. This is the one I take with me all the time. I have been a huge fan of monopods for a long time they are so versatile, they are one of the secret weapons of photography. I use them in all kinds of ways and usages many outside of the box. As you say this monopod allows you a bit more usages even than some of the more expensive units. Good example is using the monopod other way around for mic's, flash units and camera's as you did. I didn't think of that until I owned it for a month. Had I seen your video first, I would have been ahead of the game. :) Well done Gerald, so I subscribed
