my grandfather sang this to her along with my father and my uncles which were my father's bros, and my father told me to not forget this song when i grow up.

A lot of people that think they come in with the same intro to a lot of their songs. Well, for the most part they did. It was during a time that the bands were on strike and in the contracts for a lot of the singers they had a band set for them, so when (the bands) went on strike for some reason I don't recall, the groups had to sing without them and the guy with the guitar in the cover picture there could play, but was very limited to what he was good at. So he did what he could. Same with the piano player.
How funny. I bought an Ink Spots compilation more than 20 years ago and noticed many songs had the same intro without ever dreaming there was such a reasonable explanation. I have to admit to being quite damning at the time but I now feel quite contrite. I would never have asked the question, so thanks for improving my understanding.

This is one of my favorite songs. My mother who came of age during wwII loved The Ink Spots. I still have the vinyl record. And was the main reason that I played the Fallout games.❤

É uma pena que esse grupo tenha sido conhecido em um app tão comercial e estético demais pra ser usado, além de modificado nos gostos mais superficiais possíveis, por alguns poucos segundos distorcidos da internet.
E eu conheci algumas pessoas nas redes sociais que se afirmavam fãs de The Ink Spots (nem eu que sempre ouço várias músicas deles, me digo uma) e só sabiam uma, no máximo duas, música(s) desse grupo e que jamais pesquisaram outras por livre espontânea vontade, mesmo que eu entregasse o link de uma playlist pronta de bandeja.
Isso me faz pensar que algumas pessoas (maioria jovens, como eu, e eu tenho 19 no momento) não gostam da música que escutam, mas da moda que ela proporciona. Querem tanto modificar as coisas do seu próprio jeito que, por vezes, mudam a essência dela e acabam divulgando uma moda e não uma música realmente. Divulgam fama, mas não a apreciação.
Enfim, tive a sorte imensa de conhecer o grupo por recomendação do algoritmo do TH-cam, que é como um toca-discos da atualidade. Estou muito contente só de pensar que ainda existem pessoas que apreciam a música. Um grande beijo e abraço a todos vocês!

I am two years late to this comment, also I don't speak the same language but i am 14 and I'm the biggest ink spots fan ever. I have a 700 track playlist of their music including sings by the lead singer bill kenny, and his brother herb kenny, aswell as many of the music by imposter groups that stole the ink spots name for money and fame. I listen to the ink spots religiously and want to create a tribute band to this music when I'm older.

Uma surpresa: não precisam de orquestra fazendo barulho. Bastam uma guitarra, as vezes um piano e os cantores fazendo um belo vocal. Para que mais?
Exatamente. Esse grupo não precisa de modificação na voz, nem de outros aparelhos que artificializem o canto deles. Não precisa de mais nada além de um bom instrumento e um bom vocal. Muito lindo!

Nope. Check out songs like "Say Something Sweet To Your Sweetheart", "Where Flamingos Fly", "If", "Recess In Heaven". Many of their songs didn't have that trademark intro.
