@2swole4u74 You can port with a comp on if you don't overdo it. There is always a point where it is too much. Spring rate depends on slide weight and trigger system and other things. It should shoot almost any ammo if tuned right and or also ported comped correctly.
I would consider porting snappy pistols like the walther pdp and caniks but not pistols like the m&p, cz or glock. I feel like it does more harm than good because its loud, reduces velocity and it gets dirty a lot faster. If it's a duty weapon mud and dirt can get stuck in the holes if you drop it. It increases the muzzle flash at night time which can be distracting. I could see the benefit for competition but I think that it would be a bad idea for concealed carry. I guess whatever makes people happy though. Just my opinion.
@Shenmue06 All valid points, and it really comes down to preference. Some get the facts wrong a little on the pros and cons, but then again, some things are opinions, and some things fact.
I can’t believe you ported the rival when there’s no replacement barrels, I’d love to do it but won’t until I know I can swap in an oem barrel for competition or reliability. You are braver than I am 🫡
@JakeCamo After getting enough guns in the collection, you get braver for sure. I want what I want. It is super reliable if you make sure it's tuned right.
Yeah the constant cleaning would get on my nerves. I feel like ports have a place in competition and fun on the range but not duty or concealed carry. The inside of the barrel has rifling for a reason. I think cutting out some of the rifling with multiple holes might not be the best decision. How would the bullet properly hit the right velocity and accuracy when a quarter of the rifling is missing with 5 holes on top of the barrel? I can understand having one large port at the end of the barrel but multiple small holes covering the top of the barrel has to effect performance. I'm sure it's still accurate but I highly doubt that it's as accurate as it originally was.
I think a chunk port or grand master port job (Monsoon tactical) or another company’s version of the chunk + porting would look great on that model Canik. Yours looks great as well.
So, range toys port or comp, nightstand or carry handguns may require another scrutiny. Blast indoors or port flash gas while near your body may be undesirable. I like most of your examples are fuller size but may not be common for on-body carry guns.
@grover138 May require extra training if carried. You can shoot ported guns from retention if you train how to do it correctly. I have shot ports in after sunset and never seen a real issue with flash. It would be like shooting during a thunderstorm the flash is so fast the eyes hardly notice. Most pistols have almost as much flash out the front. However, it is different and needs to be trained through.
What about porting with a comp on brotha ? Spring rate ? ammo recommendations ? Great video keep it up

Excellent video! I just wanted to add a fairly obvious negative to porting: It will definitely void your gun's warranty!

@@Heteachethmyhandstowar that’s awesome man! It’s my main competition gun so I can’t risk it, but I’m for sure jealous!!!
@@JakeCamo Thanks for the support
I can appreciate the benefits but my main gripe with ports/comps is the amount of cleaning/ maintenance required outweighs them. Keep up the good work

@DAP-1776 Yes, the chunk port would look good. It would be a little more expensive.
Thanks for the info. You have a great collection. Unfortunate you only get 3k rounds annually.
@LVbibby Yeah, three kids Church and a full-time job takes most of the time.
Its louder..whatever u shoot its gonna be loud. Theres a huge difference with recoil.
Interesting
Biggest negative i can think of is the possibility of messing with the reliability.
@kogasoldier9379 It definitely can if you don't like tuning a gun I would not suggest porting.

How much muzzle velocity do you lose with a ported barrel?
