Yes, very very well done and very entertaining. Just this morning, the composer ED WELCH told me on the phone about the video - he thinks it's a hoot too! Regards
Simon Normington did Ed write the 80s hit Take On Me by A-ha ? I was just wondering as it sounds it has has been written by the same composer Welch especially as the title Take On Me is kinda like blockbusters…. Take On MeNo chance.. I will block you! you won't block me I will take you on!… see what I mean?? musically they're very similar well he didn't write it I'm sure they used EDS blockbusters theme to help to write it.
LOL, I think was at least a minute into it before the penny finally dropped and I thought "Hm, I don't think they're really playing that!". Am I embarrassed? No, cos that proves how awesome this video put together is and what the line-up for the Proms should be this year ;)
well done for synching the blockbusters theme to what looks like the orchestra playing Pomp and Circumstance No1by Elgar. Thats usually what the promenaders bob up and down to.
I expected the audience to be doing the Blockbusters hand jive dance, till I realised it the sound was dubbed onto the video. Where did the original audio come from I wonder?
If you look closely you will see that when the conductor is on the platform and Alan Titchmarsh welcomes everybody to the last night of the proms, the rail behind the conductor is not decorated (same as when the music stops). but when the music is in full swing it is. The prommers are actually bobbing up and down to Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance March No1 (Land of Hope and Glory) which is a prom tradition. The video uses footage from both halves of the last night with the music synched over.
Conductors are funny ! What the heck were the audience doing.... And who spotted that guy in the audience, getting carried away with himself ? That made me lol......
Only just come across this, what a clever piece of editing. Unfortunately the earlier comments were spoiled by being hijacked by the Class Warriors that crawled out from under their stones to make political capital out of it. Pathetic. They can bang their gums as much as they like, but nobody in their right mind really cares what they think. Just enjoy the music!
I was phenomenally distracted by the audience bobbing up and down!! Is this the only accepted way of dancing along to a good tune at an orchestral concert? Ridiculous.
This isn't original sound on the video, it's almost definitely pulled from a performance of Fantasia on British Sea Songs which has a lot of traditional weird audience participation-y stuff when it's performed at the Proms
@wrexham1983 I agree with you, why is everyone believing that this was played at the Proms. I have a similar version of this, played by the LSO from around 20 years ago..
Correct. It was from an ITV themes compilation they recorded in 1984 but it was released later. It also had an orchestral version of Terrahawks by Richard Harvey
This was actually never performed at Last Night of the Proms. The music has been taken from an album of ITV television themes that the LSO recorded. The uploader of the video has dubbed it over a performance from the BBC Symphony Orchestra who always play the last night.
Welcome to the game of speed and strategy! These are the letters which lead to victory and a chance at $25,000! From ABC studios in New York, it's Blockbusters, with your host, Michael Strahan!
Mark Hulse - before you start calling people idiots you might want to check when Bob Holness died and how many months before this video was posted. Then decide whether it was posted as a tribute.
Love it, bloody love it. I don't know what I find more amusing though, the thought of the Blockbusters theme tune being played at the proms or the sad twats in the audience bobbing up and down and waving their wee butcher's aprons?🇬🇧 🤣lmao,
Oh, OK thanks. If it's the Last Night of the Proms, I thought it may be the BBC Philharmonic, who usually have done the Last Night (in recent years anyway, I'm not sure about longer ago). Sounds more like the LSO to me! But, as I've said, I don't like it at all but for the violin descant. I haven't listened to the LSO or much classical music for years, but I remember, they're a very idiosyncratic bunch, whether good or bad.
Nice high strings counterpoint in the main tune. Otherwise, I don't really like the arrangement, and I don't like how the main theme is played by the brass. Who recorded it?
Where back and ready to morph into action Six working together to fight evil And stop Rita and all her nasty monsters From destroying planet earth An ruling the universe with evil Loki out Rita where not backing down where the power rangers
Yes, very very well done and very entertaining. Just this morning, the composer ED WELCH told me on the phone about the video - he thinks it's a hoot too! Regards
Simon Normington Thanks! That's made my week. I had no idea Ed had seen the video. Chuffed that he likes it!

I can tell its been dubbed cos at 0:39 theres no cymbal crash sound
but where did the original come from anyway?
@@danwoodhouse9290 There is, it's just quiet.
@@JonHarveyTV Did Ed compose this specifically for Blockbusters or might it have been used for something else?
RIP BOB MAY HE BE IN GODS CARE
bet hes got all the E's he could ever have over there
What a fantastic way to remember Bob holness and blockbusters
Fantastic this theme of blockbusters is a fantastic tribute to bob holness he will be much missed by us all
A tune that brings back memory’s this tune should never be forgotten
That was wonderful!!
That moshpit looked hardcore to the max!
LOL, I think was at least a minute into it before the penny finally dropped and I thought "Hm, I don't think they're really playing that!". Am I embarrassed? No, cos that proves how awesome this video put together is and what the line-up for the Proms should be this year ;)
The biggest clue is that the audience isn't doing the hand jive. Unfortunately.
This is an amazing version of the blockbusters theme
well done for synching the blockbusters theme to what looks like the orchestra playing Pomp and Circumstance No1by Elgar. Thats usually what the promenaders bob up and down to.
I expected the audience to be doing the Blockbusters hand jive dance, till I realised it the sound was dubbed onto the video. Where did the original audio come from I wonder?
This is epic. Reminds me of the closing credits theme from the fourth and final season of Blake's 7.
OH WOW this is fantastic

Highly enjoyable, well done!
The oroiginal Blockbusters Theme was one thing but this Classical Score Version is just MINDBLOWING!
2:24 No, it reminded me of Blockbusters
Brilliant - love it.
Conductors are funny ! What the heck were the audience doing.... And who spotted that guy in the audience, getting carried away with himself ? That made me lol......
Bobbing to go along with the usual "sea songs" theme.
Amazing
This is for bob blockbusters will never be the same but let's hope whoever takes over will do bob proud and challenge proud rip bob gbnf
Brilliant.
Good video.
Only just come across this, what a clever piece of editing. And now please welcome the host of Blockbusters, Bob Holness!
27 seconds is that Harry the Dog’s son from Millwalls Firm on the French Horn?
What C is the Person who Directs the Orchestra Musicians with a Baton?
Conductor -)
Aaron Ladner what r should people like you do
I was phenomenally distracted by the audience bobbing up and down!! Is this the only accepted way of dancing along to a good tune at an orchestral concert? Ridiculous.
It's look like an automatic dance move your avatars can do on Plug.dj in order to show appreciation for a tune.
Unfortunately it's a bit difficult to dance in the pit at the Albert Hall.
+pappajinx Personally, if it had been me, I'd have been popping and locking. Maybe even an electric boogaloo.
At least it wasn't that sodding "Hand Jive", that really used to get on my tits on a Friday afternoon...
This isn't original sound on the video, it's almost definitely pulled from a performance of Fantasia on British Sea Songs which has a lot of traditional weird audience participation-y stuff when it's performed at the Proms
Brilliant :)
excellent! ;)
This is Epic and Sesational and should do Bob Holness proud.
Love it :)
@623058 This version of Blockbusters sounds like a track I have from a ITV Themes collection played by the London Symphony Orchestra.
I've no idea what those weirdoes in the audience were doing, but it most certainly wasn't an officially sanctioned hand jive.
12 years later & I can STILL remember the official Hand Jive...(although I did get the knee slap and hand clap the wrong way around!)
Who ever said why is there no hand jive its in memory of bob holiness
@MrBacktothenineties It was not played at the Last Night - Listen to Alan Tichmarsh's commentry at the end of it - No mention of Blockbusters.
Ed Welch should be proud of this one!
Magic
@KarloTheMD It was not played at the Proms. I watch them every year and I have never heard a tv theme being played on the last night.
There was a brass band version in 1990 by Derek Broadbent of the theme.
And the people said WOW!!
the audio has nothing to do with the images. The audio was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by STANLEY BLACK
@wrexham1983 You are right, it has never been played at the proms
Sir Mark Elder at the helm of this epic classic
WELL DONE THE PROMS !!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Bob - the flying eye!
absolutely fantastic video. actually brought a tear to my eyes.
yeah thatr oscure chord at the end had me going "uh that's noot part of the Blockbusters theme"
Nice to see a young Dr. Evil at the helm...
@MattTheSpratt I think this version was recorded by the LSO
Which Album did this come off from? I know this piece has been around for 5 years now, still not found the single/album.
Any chance I could have this as WAV please? As audacious and as ludicrous as fitting wheels to a thunderstorm but just as exciting and invigorating!
Thanks.
Sorry, BBC Symphony Orchestra, I made a mistake.
It's the LSO.
@KarloTheMD Because this isn't the Blockbusters Theme Tune, as it's never been played at the proms :-(
This was actually never performed at Last Night of the Proms. The music has been taken from an album of ITV television themes that the LSO recorded. The uploader of the video has dubbed it over a performance from the BBC Symphony Orchestra who always play the last night.
This is the theme from the U.K. version of Blockbusters
RIP Bob Holness :(
RIP BOB
Welcome to the game of speed and strategy! These are the letters which lead to victory and a chance at $25,000! From ABC studios in New York, it's Blockbusters, with your host, Michael Strahan!
Wrong version... :P
what song was really being conducted? (my guess would be "Pomp And Circumstance")
Danny Eyheralde that bobbing goes along with a section of the Fantasia on British Sea Songs, so I'd guess it was that!
RIP super bob holness
Why is no one doing the hand jive?
Mark Hulse - before you start calling people idiots you might want to check when Bob Holness died and how many months before this video was posted. Then decide whether it was posted as a tribute.
Not bad, if only they did actually play this at the Last Night.
Love it, bloody love it. I don't know what I find more amusing though, the thought of the Blockbusters theme tune being played at the proms or the sad twats in the audience bobbing up and down and waving their wee butcher's aprons?🇬🇧 🤣lmao,
the bopping up n down the audience do is cringe worthy
There is a song where the audiences sang booping up and down like this
It’s not Gatecrasher summer sound system ffs
The probably think they were right mad bastards
Oh, OK thanks.
If it's the Last Night of the Proms, I thought it may be the BBC Philharmonic, who usually have done the Last Night (in recent years anyway, I'm not sure about longer ago).

Nice high strings counterpoint in the main tune. Otherwise, I don't really like the arrangement, and I don't like how the main theme is played by the brass.
Who recorded it?
I think the prom bop is the only weird thing about the proms.
Why is nobody doing the hand jive? ??
The London Symphony Orchestra.
Why is the conductor dressed in a chef's jacket?
set playback to 0.9x and you get the correct speed of the track, far to fast.
If you knows what respect is
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
@KarloTheMD Because this was NEVER played @ THE PROMS !!!
Sad I know
Show some respect
Can I have a G minor, please Bob? Phnar phnar.
i have no idea what is going on
Where back and ready to morph into action
Six working together to fight evil
And stop Rita and all her nasty monsters
From destroying planet earth
An ruling the universe with evil
Loki out Rita where not backing down where the power rangers
Seconded.
Countdown theme lol
@AidanLunn I hope that isn't a homophobic remark !
That one Asian dude at 1:22 just looking around in awe, like "fucking white people" I'm dying
Test
This is the whitest thing I have ever seen lol
The proms is soo cringe
