Thanks for sponsoring so many issues of BrewOtaku which also contains many different systems to the participants! Surly a nice read during the Christmas holidays and over new year.
Hahaha, totally forgot that "PRINT" in Basic can be writen as "?". 😂 Could have much shorter program. Also forgot that you can check free space with fre(0)... Mine is at 9:43 (CPC) 😁 EDIT: actually I could not, because CPC transforms the "?" onto the "PRINT" when source is listed. So no damage done. 😂
Right. There are so many small byte savers we don't think about when being absent from those vintage systems for a while... but next time you'll remember ;)
@@logikerI have tried but as I have mentioned in my edit the CPC is smart enough to transform "?" typed in, into the "PRINT" when listed. So a small handicap in this regard comparing to other systems that keep the "?". But binary size should be the same because it should be just a single opcode if I remember well. Next year I would be able to calculate also the actual binary size with the ?fre(0) not just the file size 🙂
The sound sadly got really messed up. I used the program Shotcut with 2x normalization activated. I do not really like the program and the result of the hard work I put into it. Any suggestion for better free programs is appreciated!
the challenge and entries are great! but you really should re-record the sound of this, the voice keeps jumping high and low and there are multiple places where the sound is so loud it distorts, it's really detrimental to trying to listen through the video. i know this is all volunteer work done for fun but please considering re-recording the audio with a proper microphone setup with a limiter and normalizing the loudness levels with the music segments, you would get more viewers if you did.
Do you have recommendations of free software to use? I used normalization with two runs in Shotcut. But it looks like it messed up everything instead of improving it. Recommendations are really welcome. Thank you. PS: I think changing the sound afterwards on TH-cam is not possible, is it?
@@logiker i use davinci resolve on windows, the basic plan is free and allows to do most of the basic editing. seems like the normalization settings on shotcut and wonked up on your project. sometimes it's easier to just adjust the levels manually, or when export the entire audio to an audio editing tool and normalize it there with better plugins and reimport the proper final audio. and yeah you can't replace the audio on youtube, would need to upload a new video.
Kudos for the organisation and thanks for the different categories!
Thanks a lot for this fun competition 🙂
That was one of the greatest event again! Thanks so much Logiker for this fantastic challenge! We had so much fun!
It was a please, with so many great entries like yours!
Thank you!
Amazing coding gems and challenge. Big thanks again to Logiker and all participants. 👍🥂
Very interesting approaches and entries!

Great contest, very fun! And the idea of separating Basic/asm/others was a good one, IMHO. Thanks for organizing!
Yes, I also think the separation makes things clearer as you don't have to jump form one language to the other all time.
Naturally, two days after the deadline I got my entry down from 79 bytes to 66. ;) Amazed at the 53-bytes entries though.
Yes, that's the way it (often) is. Maybe it's something for the post compo, where you can submit improved or late entries.
Thanks @Logiker for a fantastic festive compo! 🎁
Wonderful to see all the entries... wow! Now off to study this magic! ✨
Magic for Christmas! What do we want more during these holy days? :-)
Amazing show again this year. Thanks Logiker & all other participants :-).
And thanks to you and all participants!
Amazing! And congrats to all participants!
Absolutely! All participants were really great!
Thank you for the great event! It was really fun! could have done mine much shorter, but wasn't going to win anything!
That's fine. It's about the fun and not about winning anyway, isn't it?
This was really fun! Thank you for taking the time to bring everyone together for such a enjoyable experience.
It's almost like a family gathering during Christmas, isn't it? ;-)
That was fun, thanks!!!
Yes, fun for the brain it is. 😊
Thank you for organizing
Welcome! I hope you enjoyed the challenge!
@@logiker thank you, had a lot of fun. I had a hard time during Christmas, but the challenge lifted me up :)

@@rastislavzima , are keywords not converted into tokens, so no space spared or wasted on ?/PRINT ?

Ho ho ho. What an awesome collection of programs and presents.

This one looks like BASIC in the assembly section?

The author accidently uploaded the wrong pictures to this entry. The entry itself looks fine.
