    My wife and I are building a house debt free this year also! I can’t believe how cheap everything is where you live! Our 5 acres of land in north Idaho was $350k. Love your channel! Keep up the good work!

      Holy crap $350k?!? I thought land out there was supposed to be cheap!

    Amazing and big congrats Alex and Elaina! Very insightful, inspiring and all around just great way to share with everyday folks like myself who get to learn from your story! Thank you! I did reach out on your contact page for some further details on Structural engineering/architectural setup process etc. Hope to hear back and engage on this. Once again great work and keep it going!

    Great work, Alex and Elaina! It's amazing how far you both have come with the land acquisition and build. All the best.

    I was about to say, I watched your latest video and then searched for this beginnings video. You both are engineers, hence both of you can build a home. I would love to build my own home however. I do not have an engineering degree hence i could never build it on my own.

    We are roughly 105k in on our debt free build. Great idea for a video. I hope yall don't mind if I borrow your idea. Ill be following your build!

      How far into your build are you? Thanks for sharing your cost thus far as well! Love meeting other likeminded homesteaders. For sure, take our idea and run! We love to be transparent when it comes to our project costs.

      @@MasonDixonAcres our channel is a little behind. Hard to find time to edit videos with work and the build. But we have full basement in French doors walk into basement. All windows in basement and French door. First floor joists and sheathing. The rest of the lumber should be delivered this week for the rest of the exterior walls and sheathing. Using gambrel trusses for smaller second story. This price includes all permits, fees, rock for drive, anything ive put into the property that I can't necessarily take back out. Lol

    What a steal for land! In Sacramento, that much land in the foothills would be $250,000 or more.

      I can only imagine what land must cost in that area! We alway like pulling up Zillow when we are visiting other places to see how it compares!

    I’m a soil scientist but work for a civil engineer and do all that work as well. In California. These prices you listed are soooooo cheap. Obviously, they don’t feel that way to you 🤣 but as you’re saying your septic, and survey, and structural pricing etc my jaw is just dropping with how much more we charge here 😅

    • @shannonwells3736
      @shannonwells3736 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      K I’m still watching. Your well was only 3750????? I need to move. It’s easily 30k here! New Years resolution. Get out of California haha

      30k for a well?!? What kind of wells are they drilling out there?? Our well video has a better breakdown of our cost there, but geez they must be charging $100/ft drilled. CA is a nice place to visit.. but hearing your comments makes us sincerely glad we don’t live there 😅

    How many feet was your driveway for all of that? Thanks

    Where did you find a skid steer for $10,000? That is unheard of cheap. And pec test for $360?!?!?!? A perc test is VA goes for $1,800 - 2,500.

    • @MasonDixonAcres
      @MasonDixonAcres  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Skid steer was purchased from a good friend so definitely not a normal deal!
      The perc test fee was just for the inspector to come out, that does not include excavation. But we already had the excavation contractor onsite digging stumps and putting the driveway in, so it was a nominal addition to dig a bunch of test pits

    Would you consider making a $2 dollar option in patreon?

    • @MasonDixonAcres
      @MasonDixonAcres  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heyyy! Thanks so much for your comment! We just changed our pricing.. One option is $2 and the other is $10! Thanks so much for your support.

    Is that driveway fabric worth it? wont it degrade in time

    • @MasonDixonAcres
      @MasonDixonAcres  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a woven plastic product, so not really unless exposed to UV. It allowed us to use a consistent stone size (2" minus) rather than the more expensive large stone base. Never have to worry about losing stone to heavy traffic over soft ground
