    Thanks for taking the time to post this video. We have just bought a Cooper S and seeing the job being undertaken saves having to work it all out

    Thank you for your video; I have 2017 Countryman All 4 S... same layout for oil change I believe. I'm installing shut off drain plugs for the oil pan so it will not make a big mess. Do you know the thread count - size for the oil filter drain plug? I know you mentioned it is a 13 mm socket or a T55 Star... I'm also interesting in finding out how to lift up the mini so I can put jack stands at the jack points. I can't just put the jack to lift up the car by the jack points obviously.

      I put the floor jack on the spot where the lower control arm bolts to the subframe. Gotta go from the front not to block the lift point for the jack stand

      @@ELDESTBuilds Thank you. That was what I was thinking myself as I was jacking the car up to do my brakes. The lower control arm "holds the car" up so to me it's obvious that weight is apply to that point by the wheel/ball joint area. And I can follow the path of the lower control arm to the point where it meets the chassis and now that point is where the weight is being held up in the " front quarter" of the car. I think you know how "complicated" it can be without car lifts. Now I need 2 jacks.. ;(

      @@ELDESTBuilds Have you done ATF fluid change yet? What mileage so far? I believe yours has the Aisin 8speed AT same as my 2017 F48 BMW X1... I'm only at 60k kms.

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not done ATF on this car. It's the 6 speed automatic. I have 60k (American) on it right now. I did ATF on my 06 Mini @ 100k (American) there was no filler on top, had to drop the pan to empty it. Fill it by pumping fluid in through the drain plug while running. It has a tube inside for the level.

      @@ELDESTBuilds Ahh... I think it should be the same... we have the aisin transmission for fwd cars like the Volvos. You should see a fill plug as a T55 bolt on top side (under air filter). I'm planning to do a single drain and fill every 50k kms. Check out this Volvo video ATF: th-cam.com/video/YaQ5VsCfMDo/w-d-xo.html

    does the cooper s 2015 have the same oil filter?

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one is the 2.0 turbo. If yours is the same engine, yes.

    Hello Eldest builds,
    Hope you are doing well. I follow your videos on many DIYs.
    I have Mini Cooper 2017 (3 cylinder engine) and recently I changed the engine oil myself for the first time.
    I found this piece dangling and wanted to know if I am missing any part or somethign that I can ignore (although this makes the tinging sound when the engine idles at a specific frequency)
    Kindly help.

      That looks like it was part of the support to hold the plastic covers in place. If it won't tighten up to stop the rattle, you could remove it, since it is not being used.

    What a bloody daft place to put an oil filter!

      I think they forgot about it till the very end of production

    • @pinkfloyd8361

      @@ELDESTBuilds they also forgot to add a dipstick. This thing has been engineered with "profit" in mind. No part of the German Mini Cooper has been designed for easy maintenance at home.... They have deliberately made it a bastard to work on "assuming" that 99% of owners are Muppets and will gladly pay the stupid price to get an oil change in one of their dealerships. A bunch of crooks, if truth be told, their "engineering" team are obviously making it hard for the average guy to perform simple maintenance. having to drive for 30 minutes to let the onboard "computer" check your oil level is just insane! That's not "technology" that is blatant profiteering. Nice video mate

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also can't vacuum the oil out of the dipstick, which is so much easier

    • @pinkfloyd8361

      @@ELDESTBuilds yup, it's pretty much a no go / don't touch area in every regard . I changed the battery a few weeks ago but the new battery had to be registered to tell the emu that a new battery had been fitted...... Absolutely insane and, again, all about "Money". The original British Mini may have had quirks but we're easy to fix, this German shit fest "mini" is nothing other than a wallet drainer.... Horrendous piece of crap.

      I'm due for a battery soon, will have to pay them a visit for the programming as well.
