Star Trek Beyond was the first of the reboot films that felt like a modern day Star Trek film, and not a schlock-y action movie that happened to be in the Star Trek universe.
I have never watched a Star Trek movie until this one. My comments: Spoilers below Why are all the names so weird? Why does rock music count as "classical" in this universe? Wouldn't that make cavemen banging on rocks with sticks "classical music" to us? Why do superweapons always come in multiple, conveniently separable parts? Why does immortality also make you a weird alien thing? What is "gravitational slipstream" and why have I never read it in my copious amounts of physics books? Why did they not realise that going into the nebula is a trap? If the little drone ships are so overpowered, why didn't the good guys (I forget their name, it was the Corporation or something) think of that? Why does the Enterprise have puny little lasers instead of rockets that have a blast radius? How do you make a planet out of glass and not have it be destroyed by space debris? If the superweapon was ejected into space, what's to stop it just flying back or finding another peaceful planet or something? Why is it in the future that Google Translator still sounds like a robot? If Spock was lit on fire would he say "It would appear that my molecular structure is rapidly taking part in a spontaneous combustion reaction."? Why does a fan keep everyone breathing? Does the fan turn CO2 into Oxygen? If that fucked up and someone fell into space that wasn't the bad guy/superweapon, how many Space Credits are they going to get sued for? Are you even still reading this? Why are people from Vulcan called Vulcans? Wouldn't that make us "Earths" and me "Britains"? Why do so many aliens look like human(oid)s? Are we just so amazing that they just had to copy our style? Will Robot Chicken make a parody of this movie? Why did the bad guys not bother to check that alien's weird head vagina-thing for the superweapon? Why do people still mention Russia? Wouldn't that be like me saying "Did you know that a human first picked their nose in corner of a cave somewhere?" In space wouldn't a Southern accent just be someone from the south of Earth? So Australian or Chilean? Possibly South African? How can you travel at the speed of light? I'm done now.

It was good fun. I didn't really like the other two. With the first one the way they rebooted it was interesting but I just didn't quite care. Into darkness felt like it lacked a second act or something, it felt very brief. I think Star Trek Beyond really plays up the fun side of it. I had a laugh with the second character you hear in the movie giving its first line.
You mentioned before that you're a sucker for robots, and I know you like District 9. Have you seen Chappie (same director as District 9) and in that case, why not make a review on that?
I'm pretty surprised to hear people call into Darkness a bad movie, I honestly liked it better than 09, and just as much as Beyond, despite the semi-rehashed plot. It was just a really fun movie with lots of good dialogue and moments. I personally know the London girl in a coma as well, so that makes it that much cooler I guess.
Yeah. I think the only thing people really didn't like and I kind of agree with them, was the third act. That would have been cool if they made Khan a more anti hero or something.

Simon Pegg was brilliant for it and I hope he'll be allowed to write the next one too, you could notice his classical comedy embedded in it. Great laughs for a sci-fi
