Honestly the “two-step” is solid advice! So simple. Something else that really stands out to me, that he does in every video but isn’t mentioned, is visualization. Before every swing he’s visualizing the results. You even hear it in his commentary…. “Gonna hit this one right at him” “This one’s going over the net” Ime that mind-muscle connection makes all the difference. If the mind can see it, the body will do it! Is this Mike Nino…or Babe Ruth calling his shots 😅
Great observation! I hadn't thought of that. He absolutely does that all the time. He can really do want he wants most of the time and I bet that visualization is a huge part of it.
Agreed. We generally don't do that but we didn't have access to a net. We all had a gentleman's agreement to not go middle. Thankfully we all have pretty decent bat control and can avoid middle when we need to. Thanks!
Thanks! We are planning on releasing videos all throughout 2024. We are really trying to narrow our focus on what the community wants to see/learn. So we likely won't be releasing every week like we used to but are going to focus on quality over quantity. Thanks for watching!
I get the CS from the Tee and what i find fascinating is how easy you can control the ball. Line drive oppo or whatever .. it doesnt take much to really steer the ball whereever you want it. So, yeah .. from the Tee. But talking about Live Pitching Lol .. no chance. Greetings from Germany btw ;)
Been working on my cut swing for little over a year, still alot of work to do. Is there by chance an easier bat type to start with? I normally stay away from end loads cause I am not a power hitter, but I am curious if the end loaded might actually be more beneficial as you axe through the ball chopping it? I strayed away prior because my hands would dip in the follow through so I started buying balanced. How much does your comfortabilty vs a certain bat type matter for starters? I just trying to always soak up as much info as I can. Thank you for any thoughts and thank you for these vids. They keep the drive going 100%
I'm so glad these videos help you out and keep you motivated! I'm not sure there is really a "better" or "best" type of bat for cutting. A lot of it depends on your swing or the type of game you play. I find that flexy handles are better for cutting if you have an easy swing. Whenever I am swinging one of those it seems like I hit better when I take a little power off my swing. On the other hand, I find when I swing hard I can often get better results with a stiffer handle. As far as EL vs. Balanced I am often more accurate with a balanced bat but more powerful with an EL bat. That being said, power can certainly be generated with a balanced bat as well. Long story short, the most important part is developing your cutting skill. The better it gets the more successful you'll be, not matter what type of bat you are swinging. Thanks for watching!
@@LeagueNightSoftballwhat bat are you using in this video? For me, I noticed that I have the same kind of swing (as you and Austyn Dawe), and I noticed the bat does the work (I swing the OG Adidas Ruckus 12” endload, and the 12” melee endload).
Absolutely you can! I use a 27 oz bad fairly often and definitely can still cut the ball. The weight of the bat is sort of arbitrary it's really more about how well you can move your particular bat. If you can keep control of a 30 ounce bat, you can cut swing with 30 Oz bat!
Keep an eye on his Instagram, tiktok, and snap chat. He travels a fair amount for work and has talked about setting up BPs and such in different locations.
I can show you how i do it. Will never make them better cause talent is talent. It took years of practice and i never cared to get past 'c' ball from my day. I can out hit most still at 44
I can't say that I agree with you. Personally I wouldn't say I'm particularly naturally talented, however learning to cut swing has definitely upped my game and I'm still improving it day by day. But everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.
The bat he is swinging through the first 3/4 of the video is ASA (we were all attending an ASA tournament) but the bat he was swinging at the very end is the USSSA version. Specifically, its the Monsta M8 DOMN8 with a 1 oz endload.
@@Jay_Wood Professional softball players shouldn't be using composite bats and for the rest of us our leagues shouldn't be flooded with manipulated (hot) bats. If you can't walk into a store and buy a good quality bat and hit with it, you shouldn't be playing. My league is flooded with people with half ass swings and are somehow hitting bombs. That s hit is ridiculous. And it's everywhere. Honestly, ppl should be embarrassed
He seems like such a cool guy, I appreciate the simplicity of what he talks about, hope to give it a go in some bp soon.
He's a great guy. Always humble and always willing to share what he knows with others.

Pitching without a net is wildddd great video!

Love the two-step advice. Great video.
Everytime we talk to that guy we get some sort of great batting advice. Glad we could share it will you all!
I'm making it my mission to learn the cut swing. Absolutely nasty. Great instructional video!
nice to see some asa balls being hit too. We only play asa wher I'm from so nice to see the comp

Thanks for watching!
Love y'all's videos and that cut swing
Great video guys. What kind of batting gloves is mike wearing?
Those are ETQ (Etiquette) batting gloves. Check them out! www.etqco.com/shopetq
Absolute stud
When can you come to Balto MD??
Could you still cut the ball if you use a 27 ounce bat? Is it better to use a lighter bat for cutting?

@@LeagueNightSoftball Thanks for the reply, I don't like light bats because I'm so ahead and have no patience so I prefer a 27 ounce.
I want to incorporate the two-step and arm extension
Go for it! Keep practicing and perfect it!
@@LeagueNightSoftball thank you. I will☮️
Where do i find the mike nino hitting clinic info at???
Keep an eye on his Instagram, tiktok, and snap chat. He travels a fair amount for work and has talked about setting up BPs and such in different locations.
Where can I get one of those hats?
You can message @mikenino8 on Instagram and he can get you hooked up!
do they make this bat in a USA/ASA model?
What Company is Nino swinging this season ?
Friend of the Channel B Lin pointed out that I misspelled "Extension" as "Extention". My bad for the spelling error League Nighters.
What oz bat is he swinging and is it EL or balanced?
The ASA bat for the main part of the video is a 25 oz Midload. The USSSA bat at the end is a 24 oz, 1 oz endload I believe.
What kind of batting gloves is he wearing?
The company is called ETQ which stands for etiquette. They have a cool reverse velcro strap on them so you can tighten them easier.
It's like he's swinging an axe.

I don't understand why professionals use composite bats and i don't understand why every league has ppl swinging hot bats
Bummer, sounds like tfc doesn't understand much - life, at times, can be confusing - maybe do some research/find answers
Because it’s not the 1940s anymore and like any sport technology has evolved. Just like pro golfer don’t use persimmon clubs anymore…

Anybody got a link to that slo mo video on Mike's social? Can't find it.
slo mo here too ... settings to playback to .25 ... voila
