The Secret of Making Powerful Blade Fury Assassin Builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected

  • The Blade Fury Assassin is one of the most misunderstood builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected, even more than Smiters, Poisonmancers, or Strafezons - this is because the mechanics of Blade Fury are not necessarily what everyone would expect. So Today, we're making a blade fury assassin that can kill quickly, without having to re-start their blades every few seconds, or worry about enemies getting close.
    If you'd like to see a video taking a deep dive into Blade Fury specifically, mention it down below, and give this video a thumbs up.

    Nice, loving these off-meta builds. Not only you bring something new but you actually do a deep dive into mechanics. Some people already mentioned Razortail as a possible option for belt, provided the piece effect applies - would be cool to know if it works!

    As a kid, my highest level character was a blade fury assassin. I only got to mid Nighmare, around level 54 I think, and I had a yellow two socketed bow I tried to make Zephyr in. There was pretty much no thought put into the build other than the martial arts skills confused me and I liked throwing shurikens. The skill still has a special spot in my heart to this day, and I always wondered how someone who doesn't discount it outright might use it well.

    Finally bladesin video... I would maybe add some general advise - ignore target defense is one of the best modifiers you can get on weapon, tiamath shield can be surprisingly powerful source of elemental damage, jmod shield with 4x ED jewels is the very top tier shield, there are budget weapons to use like the fleshrippere (eth if possiblee) and duress armor can be nice before you get fortitude.

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ITD is very nice (doesn't work on bosses though sadly), and there is a strong argument for a Fury Claw w/ 3 Blade Fury - and fleshripper is an excellent budget option for both kicksins and blade fury assassins for sure.
      As far as Tiamat, I understand the appeal of it, but I've always been fairly underwhelmed with what it adds to the variants of this build :(

    My preference is on the hybrid side.
    Dragon Talon to max, Blade Fury to max, claw mastery to max for the extra damage from it -- and importantly, 22% critical strike, one point down to venom, one point down to cloak of shadows, one point down to Dragon Flight, and dump the rest into death sentry for wider AOE damage.
    While Claw Mastery with a claw doesn't add AR to Blade Fury, it does add that sweet ED, and DOES add AR to your Dragon Talon, allowing it to hit bosses pretty easily.
    Fury Claw, Eth (Suwayyah or Scissors Suwayyah, sup if you can get it, blade fury, dragon talon, claw mastery, death sentry or venom staff mods, in that order).
    Fury gives you a ton of Deadly Strike and also Ignores Target Defense, so everything but bosses and like, superuniques, will always be struck.
    Then because I don't need the AR anymore as Dragon Talon kills bosses fast, I can max my critical strike with Highlord's Wrath, then use a Bul Kathos's ring for life leech and a Raven Frost for Cannot Be Frozen, although a suitably decent Rhyme will work just fine. Then I don't need String of ears and can go with Verdungoes for the big vitality boost with DR%.
    Otherwise it's about the same. Pride + Fortitude on merc, GFace, Fortitude, Gore riders, and if you can get them? Rare +2 Martial Arts 20ias gloves with Mana leech. Preferably CRAFTED with all of the above, blood gloves have crushing blow and life leech on them, which is nice.
    I would STILL recommend adding Dex for block chance UNLESS you do a variant and bump up Weapon Block, at which point your best offhand is probably an Isted Bartuc's in your offhand. At that point add just enough for your gear and dump the rest into vit and maaaybe some into energy if you're feeling crabby.
    One of the biggest problems with this build is that to maximize damage, you need an ethereal weapon, and the other two blade skills don't add enough damage while ALSO taking durability from it... So you can get swarmed.
    And when you DO get swarmed, or hit by mana leech enemies, blade fury is a skill that makes you swing at the enemy if you have no mana with which to cast blades.
    Eth Suwayyahs have like 12 durability, so you need to be careful.

    Death Sentry has three important uses for a solo Blade Fury Sin. In dark mazes it serves as a beacon to scout out your path before you venture forward. As soon as you cast DS, its pilot lights illuminate the area around it, extending your effective light radius. When triggered by nearby foes, DS lightning beams point out the direction where the nearest enemies lurk. Then once you score your initial kills, DS corpse explosion blasts the rest of the monsters in each pack. DS lightning triggers also tell you when to cast Cloak of Shadows, preventing premature use of this one-cast-at-a-time defensive curse. Add a Shadow Warrior to your posse, and with CoS on your right mouse button she will double-team your Clock of Shadows coverage of enemy mobs. With the aid of a heavy-hitter Act 2 merc, a Blade Fury Sin equipped with an Ethereal weapon can solo Hardcore Hell.

      It will be a good upgrade option, though cannot be frozen is optional for blade fury (since it's unaffected by attack speed changes). But on a few other builds, I can see it absolutely being a competitor for mid-tier gear

      There are budget versions for it - as long as you remember the 3 equipment rules, it's possible to set up a budget version of it that can get through nightmare, though without decent gear, hell can get a bit painful (and if you lack skill charms, elemental damage charms and attack rating charms are nice)

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Proc-sin version is pretty close, but yea, I can update this for 2.4 (though the main difference in equipment will be the use of a phoenix shield now that it doesn't interrupt fury - that and adjusting the skill layout to optimize for boosting fury damage through synergies)

    Thks! I love fringe buid. Does it work with proc effects? With rift or with stormlash? Where would the static proc? Close to us or at the target?

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it only works on "chance to cast on striking" effects (not ctc on attack) - it's okay with stormlash, but the static field is centered on you (where the ctc is centered is a bit inconsistent, but static is on player, while bone spear is on enemy for example). I wouldn't bother with it on rift (orb is on attack, not striking, so it will never trigger - but even if it did, for example if you use "Chaos" instead - it would interrupt the blade fury and make you need to wind up again)

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damage + doesn't work unfortunately (ie things like Grief)
      But min-max damage apply - though on weapon it's only part of the weapon's base damage, off-weapon it's applied to the attack.

    • @BengaIaas
      @BengaIaas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Alzorath that's a pity, although someone could say it's refreshing that there's a build thst doesn't want Grief at all.
      How would maxdmg/ar charms compare to the Trap Skillers? I know you like to basically treat the game as single player, but for people who do trades i think those would be cheaper than skillers.

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally prefer the trap skillers since it boosts not only my blade fury, but also the death sentry (keeps the radius reasonable) - which is a bit of a necessity for crowd control, while the fury is your big hitter - so for the max dmg/ar charms to make up for the loss of them, it would have to be a fairly drastic (and expensive) boost in terms of PvE.

    • @Alzorath
      @Alzorath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is a budget version of this with all normal/nightmare farmable gear that does fine - if you're being one shot by most ranged mobs, I would double check the character's resistances and life total - since generally the only really threatening ranged mobs for most builds should be elemental skele archers and gloams.
