I have this set that I bought early in my coloring hobby and I really like them. I just wish they had a larger color set. They feel really nice laying down. Hope you enjoy them. Have a wonderful blessed Christmas.
Really pleased to see you have been shopping, Lucy. You must be feeling a lot better to be getting back into what you enjoy. I’d never heard of this set - after you’d swatched the first line I went over to Amazon to see if they had them available. And guess what, a set will be arriving on Monday!! Thank you for doing the swatch and your views on them. You are a very bad influence finding all these covetable supplies! Good idea to use them in conjunction with chromaflow, it will make a very versatile set of colours. Also, as they are thinner than polychromos you could use them with PC for getting finer detail, assuming the oil and wax are usable together - FC have been very thoughtful keeping the colours the same. I was very unhappy about Kevin’s comments if that’s how he feels it might be a good idea if he stopped watching. Your channel is a happy, supportive place and you overcome and accept your difficulties so well. There is no room for someone like him - just ignore him, you know you have our 100% support 😊
I snagged a set of these after watching your video. They’re a great pencil. I found myself wishing there were more than 48, but honestly…the way they blend, you don’t need any more than that. I think this will be a set I go to when I don’t want to be overwhelmed by choices. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Love the colors and that FC makes a wax based pencil as well!!! Thanks for swatching these and can’t wait to watch what you do with these in the future. Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and stay safe over this holiday season!!! Sending love from my family to yours again Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I recently picked up a 12 set since this is one of two brands I can buy locally open stock (the other being prisma). They aren't soft enough for me to be a favorite. In fact I find them virtually identical to both the Crayola and Rose Art pencils, only at a much higher price, and I'm going to sort them into my case for those just to get some use out of them. I can totally color with them, but they require a different approach with many very light layers overlapping, preferably with more "steps" of color for blends, and you don't wind up with as rich color in the end. They also do best on a smoother paper. They are much harder on my hands than the soft pencils so I avoid them but sometimes it's fun to play with all the colors. If you haven't tried the newer crayola blend and shade pencils I would suggest those.. they are "almost" as good as my prismas and live with them in their case. They only have 50 shades available and no open stock but they are very reasonably priced. They are so similar they do have the same issues as prisma with delicacy and sharpening... but the way I see it, it comes with the soft core so it doesn't bother me.
These were my first set of pencils that I purchased a few years ago and they are beautiful! They also have water soluble Goldfaber if anyone is interested in a watercolor pencil.
Thank you so much for this video. Right away added these to my wish list, along with the Derwent 12. The colors are really gorgeous, and this would be the set I take along in my purse, with my little sketchbook and coloring book. I loved listening to the pencils go down on the page--no hitches that mean scratchiness. Besides, if you love them so much, that speaks to their quality. That's the only testimonial I need. Lucy, have such a blessed Christmas, and I hope your hands feel some better. I wear a pair of finger-tip-less arthritic gloves that help my hand stay warmer, very thin, smooth material, but they work, because the arthritis can just be brutal in winter, and frankly anytime. Merry Christmas!!!
I bought the 24 set and a 36 set of Faber Castell Black Edition. As for the Gold Faber you can get replacements open stock. They also have a 48 set of watercolour pencils.
Hi Lucy! This is a Beautiful Set of Pencils, Thank You very much for Sharing! Another Option for Me, who could never afford the Poly's. Merry Christmas to You and Your Family!🎅🎄💜
Hi Lucy! My Son gifted Me a Vety Nice Amazon Gift Card! I am going to pick these Pencils up! Thank You so very much for Sharing the information on these Pencils! 👍🏻💜
Thank you for doing this review! I had no idea these were the wax version of the Polychromos pencils. I had thought they were just a cheap version of a faber castell pencil. Now that you explained exactly what they are, I need to get a set right away! 😊
I love FC! I will be ordering this set, thank you for swatching. I bought the Chromoflows and you are right, very buttery and creamy! Merry Christmas dearest friend 🤶🎅💖💜💜
I think your idea of combining Chromaflow and Goldfaber is brilliant. I am looking forward to seeing a video of you combining the two. I have the Chromaflow, and honestly, find them lacking a bit. I might buy the Goldfaber, as a companion, but I might not. At any rate, thanks for this, and Merry Christmas!
Thank you for doing this review. When I first started coloring, I bought a set of 12. Eventually I gave them away. Someone didn't have any pencils. I will procure this set!!! Again 😂 I had other pencils in different sets ( prismas, polychromos ) I didn't use them. I want this set!!! ❣️😉☃️🎄🎇⛸️🥁🧣📯♉✴️🛍️🕯️🛷🎄🎁🎀🎇🍊🍎🦌🌟🌨️⛄🙋 Merry Christmas Lucy. And blessings coming your way to you and yours.
Hi Lucy. I love your enthusiasm over new pencils. Always puts a smile on my face. I don’t have these but….I have the FC Goldfaber Aquarelle and love the. Sorry not sorry 🤣. Happy Christmas to you and yours 🎄🍾🎁🎄
HI Lucy, I have been wondering about these pencils, I didn’t know they were wax and the only wax pencils from Faber-Castell. Yes, they have lovely colors but no name on the pencils, do the colors seem to be in chronological order? I think I would love this set of 48, not too many colors to choose from and open stock would be amazing! Thank you for swatching Lucy 💖🤗
Hi Keni they are lovely to colour with and the pencil numbers correspond with the Polychromos, the colours are a really good match too. I just use the leaflet that came with them and then I knew what colours they were. Cult pens have open stock ones for £1 making them even more appealing! 😲😃🤗💖
I have the previous version of these, they were called Art Grip instead of Goldfaber and they were triangular. The biggest set was the 36 one, but the aquarelle version was 60. The Art Grip line was discontinued, and I don't know if there is a difference in the formula.
yup, i can confirm, golden and silver pencils are not like "metallic", i expected that of the ones i have but nope. oh btw i find the colors on this set to be... soft, i mean "lightly", it is like i have to put many pressure and layers to finally get what i want :(
I actually just got this set and the one you missed is 132. I started my color pencil journey with Steadler Ergo Soft and it didn't take long to get frustrated. I got lucky and purchased a 72 set of Prismas before they moved to Mexico and went to shit. About a year later, I got frustrated again as I was trying to blend colors for what I didn't have. Purchased the full 150 set during the pandemic and could really tell the difference in quality. The vibrant colors are hard to ignore and they are buttery smooth though. Fast forward to present and I'm embarking on a botanical journey and looking for something that blends better (on a limited budget). I'm swatching along with you and enjoying every minute. But I need to know the color name for 132 please. My list from FC no longer includes the names.
Thank you for this. I wanted to see the swatches before purchasing and I have purchased (Though I also bought a few open stock Polychromos to top up certain shades I felt were missing especially in brown, red and blue). But I think you missed out one (Light flesh) and only did 47?
I've had these for a while now, it's a lovely little set! I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything FC sells. Apart from their pencil sharpener, that thing is just **~~### :D :D
They sell these open stock at the michaels near my house for $1.59 I usually buy 1-3 new shades every time I go in to replace a prismacolor pencil I finished off. I hope to eventually have a full-ish set by the end of 2030 lol. I’m up to about 20-25 pencils now. But I love love love them, & I can never find anyone talking about them online..so when I saw you’re thumbnail it was a no brained. The only thing. That I’ve come to notice is that they do not blend well with the prismacolors it’s almost like oil & water they just don’t mesh together well…so if you use them by themselves your all gravy. Which isn’t a big problem to me anyways. The number system matches my oil pastels, pastel Pitt pencils, polychromos, & I swatched them side by side & the numbers are all on the same number system with their colors, which makes them even more awesome, then the fact these are $1.59 for the quality/color payoff, I think make these the best price for quality colored pencil out there. That being said I think these would be an outstanding beginner, rookie colored pencil to start with, instead of going right to the deep end with prismacolor, or some watercolor pencils. You can practice with these for months without needing replacements, for finishing the pencil, unlike similar waxy pencil prismacolor, that make them an expensive first brand to buy. Hope that is useful to someone! Merry Xmas and happy holidays to all! Keep up the awesome videos, your positive energy is always so nice to watch. But now I think you have talked me into re-swatching my little collection of these pencils, so I can play too!! Lol love you bear xoxoxo my favorite is the blue green one I think it’s 263 or 261 & that 105 yellow, so beautiful! What’s your fav color, u notice they have a lot of in between color shades, if you compare them to the go to,regular colors every set has. The color story In this set, was without a doubt thought of with more effort then most, & it shows!
I have bought some open stock to just try them. I didnt like them they haven't really worked in many of my books. I found they didn't have much pigment. I'm curious to see you color with them.
yes there are 48 and you swatched 47? which one did you miss. I am so pleased you were excited about these, obviously you aren't that interested in the mica powders I sent you ages ago. What happened to them, do you still have them.
