    I love my little EEW nano, it's what I learned to spin on, and it is just the sweetest little machine. I DIY'd a lazy kate using the box that my nano came with and a couple bamboo chopsticks. Worked great.

    I wonder if you could use steam to set the twist, kind of like how you’d block acrylic knits with steam? 🤔

    I'm really interested on trying to use cabled yarn so this video was very useful and the result is beautiful, I love the different tones of pink are shown in litte dots, super pleasing to look at 😊

    Being that I've only been spinning for about 6mos I had trouble with this fiber. Its beautiful and I loved the 2 color ways I got but I had a hard time keeping the yarn consistent, especially the rose fiber. I had no idea what to do with the yarn until I watched thos video but know I'm gonna crochet it all into a bag. Thanks for all your help and inspiration Evie! Where are y'all moving? Back to Louisiana?? Cant wait to hear more about it and best of luck to you and the family!

      It is a tricky fiber and definitely a different feeling than wool. We aren't moving far from where we are now, just a town over. I'm looking forward to making some new videos about setting up my spinning room! 😊💜🧶

    Very interesting episode. The nylon fibre looks like it is worth a try. Thank you for sharing your experience. Lovely bag. Glad you are enjoying you Nano spinner? I have a Nano spinner though the last time I used it the motor was spinning slow so may need to look at how to repair. Would be interesting to see whether the fibre spins up on a drop spindle!💞😀

    thanks for this video! i don't think this is a fibre i would ever want to spin on its own except as an experiment to get some experience with it but i would really like to see biodegradable nylon start to be used in place of regular nylon in fibre / yarn blends where you need that durability for socks etc

    Such a cute little bag! Little drawstring bags like that are called reticules. They were popular in the mid 19th century with ladies and they could get quite fancy with big tassels at the bottom.

    I recently purchased a couple of pin looms. I got a four inch like yours but it is the vintage Weave-It style and I purchased a three inch with evenly spaced pins on Etsy. I use the diagonal continuous warp method on the smaller one and I especially love how the squares turn out when I use my variegated hand dyed handspun. I like to use my tonal handspun yarns on the Weave-It. I am having so much fun with these little looms and I am planning to make myself several different sizes in the future. I have the Nano also (and the EEW6) and, along with a small pin loom, it is perfect for sampling. That way I can save my actual spinning wheels for larger projects. This was a really great video!

    Hi Evie, I hope you're all OK. Love the colours of the Nylon Fibre, and the fact that you spun it on the Nano, as I'm going to be buying one soon . Also like that you wove it ito a little pouch on your Zoom Loom. I'm definitely going to weave on my Zoom Loom with some of my hand spun that I've done on my Drop Spindles.
    Thankyou so much for this video podcast.

    Just got a variety of Bio/ non bio nylon and want to spin with wool for sock yarn - you inspired me! Saw how you added it to purple wool but don't know how to calculate/ how much to add to end up with about 20% ish mix to make wool harder wearing? Should it be done by weight and then combed in...didn't think about this when I ordered it!....? Loving your videos as always x

    I wore nylons for the first time in like 15 years last month and remembered exactly why I hated them the entire day. I really don’t like any of the new fibres (tencel, banana, rose etc.) because of that squeaky, plasticity feeling, so I don’t think I’d like this either, but I can see why some of the really hardcore sock yarn spinners would want it. I’m a 100% wool girl through and through!

  • @ashfieldguild

    What a great little bag! Inspiring idea from a pin loom 💡😁 Was your fibre 100% eco nylon? 😲 I can imagine that would have limited uses! Thank you for being the guinea pig 👍🏻 I have a blend from hilltop cloud, 25% eco nylon, 75% sw cheviot. I plan to overdye then spin for socks, so I’ll let you know. All the vibes for a stress free (as possible!) house move 🥰

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think that I will buy the little e-spinner! I was wondering if I could still ply it if I don’t have a bigger spinner? I do have a cake maker (I don’t know if it’s the good word 😆) Can I ply them on it?

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can ply with the Nano you will just end up with two bobbins of plied yarn because you spun two bobbins of singles yarn. Some people don't like having lots of separate bobbins because they have to weave in ends in their projects, but if you don't mind that, there's not worry with having smaller sized bobbins. 🧶💜

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JillianEve ahh ok so I won’t ply my two bobbins together?

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, we might need a bit of an experiment to figure that out! It is so plastic like that I'm sure it won't set like wool, but you can still iron out wrinkles on nylon blend fabric so how would the heat or steam affect the yarn??? Hmm.... 🤔💜
