I think Courtney's at her best when she's cutthroat, competitive, bossy and blunt, but still has her humanity. Like, she isn't actually trying to ruin things for everyone else, she's just trying to win. When she's tough but fair, and has at least some rage to her but not so much that she looks psychotic. Because she was supposed to be a straight man to other people's wackyness, so making her just as insane seems like a waste.
I do love her dynamic with Duncan in Action tho. That was the best thing in that season.

In island: pretty calm, kinda bossy for her team, can be kind, got in love. But lost the game.
In action: rage spoiled girl, main antagonist, unfair teammate, good at challenges.
In world tour: started calm, not badly, gwuncan happened, rage spoiled girl again, defeats her "friend" (Gwen), got eliminated with another rage girl, still in love with Alejandro.
All stars: the worst rage spoiled girl, became so bad, still against Gwen, got friends with her, "elimination chart problem", got in "love" with Scott (not much tho), got voted off, got puked by sharks, not friends with anyone, and never appeared again.
Totally a bad development.

Island Courtney was the best version of the character. Competitive and capable but still kind and human and iconic to boot. Action was too far in the competitive and uncaring direction, World Tour was too involved in the love-triangle and All-Star was kinda a caricature of herself but with some funny scenes and a terrible ending.
