The runner is just so nice, try scrolling the comments a bit and you'll see that he answered most of them... I swear, speedrunning communities are the best
I like to come back here once in a while because the comments make me smile and give me motivation :) Your comment made me smile too so thank you for that!
Awesome run Violingamer! My biggest issue with CTRNF is just how much invisible geometry there is that wasn't there in the original CTR and CNK that make speedrunning that much more luck-based, and it sucks that you hit a few of them, but always happy to see this game represented at speedrun events! You did a great job playing and explaining everything.
Amazing video, casters are sick, gameplay is great, good advises, much respect between the two and not too invasive donations. Really is a masterpiece of a video
Hey, everyone! Runner here! If you have any questions about the run or about me, feel free to ask :D Also my Twitch recently had a name change! You can watch me at twitch.tv/Violin
@@TheNaturalGamer1 After the most recent update the game has been a lot of fun! However, online lobbies still disconnect frequently and the net code can be very bad, so it's far from perfect. When I play against other speedrunners without items it's so much fun.
@@ffx5846 The physics of this game are similar to the original, but it lacks the consistency that the original had. Sometimes I'm unable to jump or drift in certain areas of certain tracks, and that really takes away from the immersion that I had with CTR as a kid. The blue fire mechanic really sets the remake apart from the original in a good way, but I just wish there was more consistency in the driving overall.
Absolutely love the way he describes and plays the game. This is how it’s played‼️ yes yes yes beautiful fence jump! And wow I didn’t know the story behind it after playing for 18 years
I didn’t know Violin_Gamer speedran CTR I mean I watched his KH challenge runs, both games that were essential to my early gaming. This run was informative and awesome!
Just curious which game does the CTR speedrun community prefers to run? This game "feels" faster (and blue fire) but comes with some rng elements that seems detrimental for speedruns. Definitely not seeing this game replacing the OG completely, even in terms of playing it leisurely. Asking for curiosity sake, not hating any sides here~
I personally prefer to run Nitro Fueled but I know plenty of people who prefer the original. I will admit that the original CTR is definitely more mechanically consistent than this game, but this game is just more exciting for me personally.
As someone whose won a tournament with 400+ entrants from accross the UK, i can tell you that this game is terrible when everyone is the 'same' skill level. It's purely based on rng on what items you get and how lucky you are getting missiles bombs or shield at the start makes or breaks the whole race
Is there an option to turn off those speed trails behind the Kart's wheels? Pretty distracting and a bizarre addition to what looks like a pretty decent remaster.
Sorry for seeing this late! You can actually equip different wheels without the trail effect! This game has a lot of different customization options so it's completely up to personal preference :)
I haven't played this game in way more than 10 years, and I still remember most of the tracks. Just goes to show that my brain is full of all kinds of useless crap.
The old All Cups run is now called 28 Tracks and we have a new category called 32 tracks! I wouldn't be surprised if we got 36 Tracks and even 40 Tracks later down the line.
The run was originally submitted as All Cups Medium back when difficulties on the leaderboard were split, but at the time of the run all of the difficulties were merged into one All Cups category, where most people played on Easy. Easy and Medium are essentially the same during the speedrun and we do the same exact thing.
I really wish they hadn’t killed off the Adventure mode from the PS1 version. That actually made it way different from other racing games like Mario Kart
46:19 "Shotouts to developers being involved with speedrunners" 40:04 "There have been a lot of skips that have been patched out" If first statement was the case then those skips wouldn't have been patched out for speedrunners to exploit lmao, what a contradiction.
We can still speedrun the game on 1.0, but it does make sense for devs to patch out glitches from a game that is so focused on online. However, I do think a good compromise would be to leave the glitches in during offline play. I personally enjoy how the current state of the speedrun is, though. It still takes an enormous amount of skill to place high on the leaderboards.

Couch commentary is provided by Bryanato
Brossentia is host
The dude on the couch is great! Very supportive of the runner. Seems like a good friend.
Yea real good friends
😊😊😊
Glad the devs donated too, props to them
Beenox are pretty great.
But to heck with Activision.
Yep, Beenox is great. Who is Activision?
CTR deserves more love at GDQ.
9:16 best comment of the stream, has no idea what the game is but enjoys watching it and conversing with his good friend while he plays it.

Knowing how hard it is to control the drifting in this game, this run is mad impressive!
If it's anything like the PS1 game, then drifting should be hella easy to control.
@@Nicholas_Steel Once you drift in CTR, you'll never not drift.
Driftlife!
@@Nicholas_Steel it took me almost a day to completely master it, especially learning to do sharp hop turn.
Arlyss Ryxlington Hard? Have you played before?
@@Cj-ev2si he probably means easy to get into and hard to master
Best run I've seen! I love this game and the commentary was great. Love from the land of real bandicoots!
Thank you very much!
Best-dressed runner and a great run.
20:09 "You're really good, how about that?"
For some reason, that was adorable to me. Anyone else think so?

And, not days after this run, they added another Cup...
Let's get the new cup(s) into SGDQ? 👀

Oh my god I just realized the bars behind the timer is actually a binary counter
What a great run, game is hard as hell and he's just cruising through it... Great commentary too! Very likable and fun. Thank you!

That beenox donation was just amazing
I hope people appreciate how great your Dragon Mines was!
I really got 20 minutes into the run before realizing the runner was Violin. Love his Kingdom Hearts content, I had no idea he even ran this game.
That 1:14 Roos Tube time was elite
this was fun to watch
This was awesome! Was hoping this game would make it into GDQ!
Most of this speedrun is loading screens, certainly the most painful part.
It's very unfortunate, and with each new update, the loads get even longer :(
Its amazing, he commentary game and speedrun 👍
sick run
GDQ + CTR = OMG

I wanna see speed runners race each other
Wouldn't be representative of their skill set as they'd be using weapons. Be more about "traditional" cart racing instead of line keeping.

I like two iconic videogame characters.😁Spyro and Crash Bandicoot.😎👍👍
Nice run:) awesome game but it's so bugged:(
Is there an option to turn off those speed trails behind the Kart's wheels? Pretty distracting and a bizarre addition to what looks like a pretty decent remaster.
It's a cosmetic addition.
You have to buy those trails. By default they aren't there.
Sorry for seeing this late! You can actually equip different wheels without the trail effect! This game has a lot of different customization options so it's completely up to personal preference :)
Freakin sweet yo :D
Great run :D
Weird about the shield in Tiger Temple. I don't think you even had to fire it in the original CTR.
You did have to fire it in the original, but there was no issue with the ground's collision in the original like there is in NF.
Half the run is loading screens.
Hard of hearing gamer here, so I'm legitimately asking - are they saying "sacred" or "secret" fire? TIA.
Sacred. There is sacred fire which is when you run over a regular pad and ultimate sacred fire. You have to run over special USF pads to reserve that.
sacred fire
It's Sacred.
Hope this is not a pointless comment.
it's sacred fire, but it can also be called "Blue Fire"
I haven't played this game in way more than 10 years, and I still remember most of the tracks. Just goes to show that my brain is full of all kinds of useless crap.

What happens to the all cups run since a new cup was added
The old All Cups run is now called 28 Tracks and we have a new category called 32 tracks! I wouldn't be surprised if we got 36 Tracks and even 40 Tracks later down the line.
Is it just me or was he suppose to play on medium but the difficulty said easy? Or am i just not understanding something

Well the skips were patched out to protect the online competition,
well sometimes there's skips that are way too game breaking
like skipping a whole lap, or skipping huge chunks of level that were not intended.
Yeah, sounds like a good idea to keep skips in a game with multiplayer online.
We can still speedrun the game on 1.0, but it does make sense for devs to patch out glitches from a game that is so focused on online.
