I take this opportunity to sincerely thank and appreciate Mr Srinivasa Murthy for this wonderful effort.
The so called "tail pieces " have been woven into a garland of musical gems. He has delved deep into the ocean of "MURALI GAANAM " and dug out the Navarathnas.
If we think of Jayadeva Ashtapadis, it can be only BMK who has put Heart & Soul in accomplishing full justice to the compositions, neither the stalwarts of yester years nor the stars of the present stand anywhere near in this effort.
Impeccable pronunciation of Sannskrit words, choosing the appropriate Ragas, highlighting the Sahitya bhava and generating the Rasaanubhuthi are the hallmarks of his singing, all these features are possible because of his indepth knowledge of Sanskrit , mellifluous voice, his musical genius, apt voice modulation and his " Taadatmya with Kavihridayam".
It is unimaginable how he has handled Shubhapantuvarali and Natabhairavi in pouring out the sorrowful Shingara bhava. The usage of Hindusthani Ragas are commendable.
Jayadeva Kavi has been a role model for Kshetrayya, Narayanatheertha and others who have tread the path of Madhura Bhakthi. BMK has done equal justice in presenting their compositions also.
I look forward to Mr Srinivasa Murthy in bringing out the albums of these saints.
It is very disheartening to note that most of the present day performers are at a loss in not attempting these Musical & Lyrical gems which can take them to greater heights.
Thanks once again to Murthy Garu.

Guruvarya is a synonym for Ashtapathis.

In the duet with Smt Kishori Amonkar ... they have sung the nāyaka and nāyakī roles using the appropriate songs beautifully. how beautifully sung is the phrase where the nāyaka says to his nāyakī that she is his *bhavajaladhiratnam* ... a pearl in this ocean of life ... what a refreshing phrase from Jayadeva instead of the usual bemoaning of the ocean of life that one finds in so many places. And the final *milanam* of the nāyaka and nāyakī in the last verse is also very beautifully done. The rāga choices are all BMK's. Both have sung it with appropriate bhāva intonations. Lovely.

    Dear Murthy Garu
Grateful thanks to you for so meticulously joining together each of these gems from different concerts. And top it all, writing the long 😎description both on the screen and in the narration makes it even cosier. For those who are interested in knowing the meaning in english of each of the eight stanzas of every ashtapadi is ably translated by dasu Garu in Sangeeta Sudha website.

At the sadas lec-dem at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja (in the 1970s), i remember BMK making a case for people to listen to cinema music and to not disparage it as vulgar. The essence of his talk was that if you compare the lyrics of the padams, javalis, ashtapadis to the 'vulgar' cinema songs, the latter were nursery rhymes. He said that we accept the lyrics of padams, javali, and ashtapadis because they are (1) old, (2) in samkskrtam or other classical language, (3) they talk of Radha and Krishna, and (4) they are sung on the karnataka music concert platform. There was also an implied exhortation to understand the difference between the erotic and the pornographic. One of my favorite talks by the maestro.

As SPB said some years ago, BMK must have been a Gaandharva. Of course i cannot say ""in his previous birth now"" as he is no more. But certainly his singing was sublime beyond comparison. Some of the ragas that i find here are so difficult like kosala et al... to sing that he sang them so effortlessly with absolute mastery over diction. I recall Kalidasa's first verse in Raghuvamsham where he talks about the importance of "vAk" and "arTha"....

Very melodious rendering. Thanks for bringing it out in its pristine form. ‘Natha hare ‘, was sung in the movie - Hansa geethe ( maybe of different spelling ).
I could not listen all the items in one go as I could not bear the joy of grandness of singing .
It is beyond my imagination how he contained joy while singing. Maybe he might be enjoying from the higher plane of joy.
Do any words express the joy!
