First learned about Ark back when scorched earth came out. Watched vids of the island and SE and fell in love with the game. Alas, I was but a broke teenager, so I couldn’t even afford the game. When aberration released I binged all the videos and out of excitement bought the season pass while on sale, but I didn’t have the means to play it on my budget laptop. So I waited years until I could afford a gaming laptop for medical school. Installed ark, tried to run it and could barely break 20 fps, so I dropped it.
Ark SE was one of a few reasons I decided to build a gaming pc capable of running it. My dreams were realized when I got my pc late October of 2023, for around $1100. Played ark as soon as I installed steam and got 40 fps which I could live with. 2 days later…ASA drops.
I read all the Reddit posts on performance issues and the need for a 4090 in order to run the game somewhat competently and I’m floored. A 4090’s way more than I planned to spend. So I waited a few months hoping the game would get optimized and bought it in December. Shamefully, my 6750xt and i5 cpu earned me about 20-30fps. Back to square one I lamented.
I’ve been able to save enough money to budget upgrade my pc to a 7800x3d and a 7900xtx which will arrive tomorrow. Not what I thought I’d have to got through to play this game but fingers crossed I can finally make kid me happy with the result.
I flip between playing Ark Survival Evolved and Ark Survival Ascended as of current. I am a console player and former PC gamer; when ASA first dropped, I was not even aware of it until two days after it was released and only because of other TH-cam creators who I've subscribed to...no developers even announced anything about it until nearly a week later. I had time before I got my newest system to be able to play the game, but when I did...like everyone warned...it was unplayable. Even doing a near mandatory DinoWipe in ASA made it a death sentence for the rest of your playthrough. If it wasn't for the addition of modded content like Ceratosaurus or Sunken World alongside me being a 8,000 hour ASE player, I may not have ever again touched ASA.
Plus, the nostalgia from ASE is incredible for me and it is one of the few times in my life that I ever camped out at my nearest game store for a game. Wonderful content as well, my friend, you have a new subscriber. 🤘
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it! Have more content brewing, but it always takes longer than I ever expect. I’ve been toying with the idea of a kind of 6-months-later video about Ascended to assess it with fresh eyes. Haven’t decided to commit to it, but we’ll see. Evolved is still my favorite, it’s the most mature and has the biggest mod ecosystem, so for now I’m still with it. I imagine at some point most of my essential Evolved mods will be on ASA or have equivalents, but even so I don’t think I have the patience to wait years to get all the maps I can play today on ASE.
I will play ASA when i get a better pc, an more content is out. I also do SP
It actually performs acceptably on my watercooled 2080Ti, suprisingly! Agree 100% on waiting for more content... once all the maps I love and key mods are all available, then I'll be more likely to leap.
@@SunGodPresents Im running a 1070, Ive had this PC from 2016, I need some upgrades. Also yes there are mods I would Miss [ Idk if you ever played with immersive taming?
@@xxbloodxreaperxx I love immersive taming, I've been using it in my ASE series, too. I've tamed so many easier dinos over the years the traditional way that Immersive took all the grind out of it. That's one of the key mods for me.

I’ve been playing for 8 years, not making ARK videos for 8 years. The video’s been up for like a day. 🤣
