I just came back from Taiwan 2 weeks ago, I cycled for 6 weeks around the island and spend one month in one of the surf towns you cycled trough. Taiwan is indeed a great place for cycling, perfect roads and amazing views in the mountains and on the coast. Also super friendly locals who often wave at you and support you, especially on the climbs. Thank you for the video!, really nice to see familiar places! And yes I also highly recommend Taiwan for cycling! O and the tea eggs are strange, needed to eat them for the proteins, but after 2 weeks I couldn,t eat them anymore.
Great video, Sherry. More people should know about this awesome country, a hidden gem in Asia. I lived there in the past for two years and afterwards went back many times for vacation. It just has a special place in my heart. TW number one!
I love Taiwan and I've been there many times as my wife is taiwanese. Very easy going country with welcoming people. You will have a great time visiting
As a Taiwanese and a cycling enthusiast, I have circumnavigated the island three times. The first time was when I graduated from high school. Now, at 31 years old, I am considering embarking on another journey with a backpack to rediscover the dreams of my youth while I have the time. I also hope that your travels in Taiwan are smooth and enjoyable. Best wishes to you!
Can I get some expert advice from you? I'm thinking about cycling Taiwan over one month. Route: south from Taipei to Wulai, through the centre to the south. Then follow the east coast up to Taipei again. What do you think? Would you have any information to share? Any must-see? Thank you
@tyronho if you want a partner in crime for that, let me know. I will be travelling to Taiwan in dec 20th but would love do to a bike trip early January =)
Now I miss Taiwan again it’s been a year since we move and I’m missing it everyday almost 5 years living there and I enjoy it,! Cycling is so much fun the people and the food. Thanks for sharing this
Taiwan is great for cycling, and as a Korean, I can't help but praise Taiwan. Korea's bicycle paths are among the best in the world, but Taiwan's scenery looks better. Always pay attention to safety and health, and I hope you always have a pleasant ride. 번역기이므로 문법이 이상하더라도 이해해 주시기 바랍니다. This is a translator, so please understand even if the grammar is strange.
I don't know how you made this cycling trip looks a trip to the park. I am familiar with the whole route and it is hard, I mean really hard on one's body physically. Especially when each day's scheduled so tight as you guys did. Obviously, your trip is well planned and executed (and lucky with great weather). We travel from Texas to Taiwan, rent a car and tour the island for one month every year. The best part of Taiwan is definitely the mountains and the east side of the island. Hats up to you guys and cheers from Dallas, TX.
Indeed, Taiwan is a great place for cycling. 70% of the island is mountains, with good quality of highways. You may challenge to climb to Wuling, the highway highest point of Taiwan, with an elevation of 3,275M(10,746ft). The expenses for tourism is reasonable. Locals are friendly. Taiwan is also known for safety.
Just back from Southern Taiwan for CNY with my wife's family. Took my bike and was out riding every morning in the low mountains around the city, the best roads, views and people I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy, and that is saying nothing about the food and drinks to keep you fueled. So hard to come back to daily life after the holiday, already planning the next trip back in a couple months 😁 It's wonderful to see you enjoying this beautiful place that I am lucky enough to call my second home. Hope you will have the chance to come back again
I live in Taiwan and the cycling is an undiscovered gem! Kudos to those that put together your route! They totally nailed it. You picked the perfect season and lucked out with the lack of rain. Great video!
Thank you for introducing the beauty of Taiwan by riding a bicycle! Thank you for your hard work! The time you chose is also very good! The weather is cooler! As long as it doesn’t rain! You are welcome to ride in Taiwan often!
You got fantastic arrangement for the trip. That was the best way to see the beauty of this island, and very challenging for physical strength as well. ^_^
Thank you for cycling in Taiwan and for making such a great video. The route you chose to ride is very challenging, with a lot of climbing, beautiful scenery, and many roads that even locals haven't ridden. Epic Ride!
The east coast of Taiwan is a beautiful ride next to the pacific! also if u go again the east rift valley on the other side of the costal mountain range through rice fields is special :-)
Sherry, that was great, looks beautiful in Taiwan. You always make me smile, as you're such a happy person. You're facial expressions crack me up, on that hanging bridge 😂😂😂😂. The best smile in cycling 👍👍👍
Wellcome to Taiwan. It’s a marvelous trip video. So happy to see you after 2023 PBP. I am also a PBP rider.Thank you for sharing Taiwan. You are a amazing cycling rider TH-camr I like.😊
5:17 FYI, regarding the Swastika: It is not uncommon to see this in Asia, and it does not represent Nazi Germany. The Swastika originated in India and the word in the original Sanskrit language refers to health, prosperity and good luck. It was later used by Europeans, including Carl Jacobsen, the philanthropist and founder of Carlsberg Brewery in Denmark, who put it on his first brew kettle in reference to the original meaning. Later, it was appropriated by the Nazi Party, and that is how most people in the West came to recognize it in the post-war period. In Asia, Swastikas often appear in horizontal rows or around the periphery of many old buildings and temples, similar to how it is shown here. This film definitely got me wanting to go Taiwan to cycle the route you did! Thank you very much for the video.
Thanks for sharing the cycling trevel in Taiwan, also as a amateur cyclist and triathlete live in Taipei Taiwan, I must pay my tribute to you and your team mates, for such strong power which ride a long distance and climb so much height every day. The tea egg is put egg in the sauce, which mix with tea (most black tea), soy sauce, and many kind of spices, then boil the egg with slow warm heat until the egg is delicatessen.
Hi @leocheng38 I am travelling to Taiwan to spend a month but would love to keep training for triathlon there. Any recommendation on where to train an area to stay in Taipei to make the schedule easier? Thks!
@@williamythsu Do you must stay in Taipei ? Because Taipei has more cloudy/raining days in this season ? There are some routes for bike in different training purpose, include coast and mountain, or just pure climbing training. For running you can run outdoor thru bikeway by riverside, or run indoor on running machine in sports center. For swimming there are many swimming pools inside Taipei City, for 25m / 50m course depend on which you like.
I lived in Taiwan for 20 years, in Taichung, mountains around. Climbed Wuling, Snow Mountain, Alishan, you name it. Missing the Taiwanese mountains and jungle.
Nice video. We (8 riders from Singaporer) are going to Taiwand end of march (22.3.) to do our 1200km RTI (round the island) cycling tour. We will go ACW (anti clock wise), first west coast to the south and then east to the north. Also visitng the most north and south lighthouses. During our trip we have planned to avoid the cities as much as possible. Unfortunately I cannot upload a pic from our track here.....but after our tour - will see
Great job and hope you guys had fun here in TW! Actually not only 7-11 but also family mart, esp. the fami-coffee you should try when you visit Taiwan next time, cheers!☕👍
As a Taiwanese cyclist, so happy to see you and your friends enjoy cycling in Taiwan. And what an insane route! I haven't tried to ride from North to South in Taiwan, hope one day, I can also have this trip, enjoy cycling while seeing every beauty in Taiwan and other countries, as well.🥰
Great to see you enjoy the ride in taiwan, you're one of the endurance cyclist youtuber who truly show the strengths and ambition in cycling. Can't wait to see your next adventure...😊
What a lovely, cheerful narrator! Can't believe the consistent extremely high quality roads... wow... And such a variety of ages represented in your group... all obviously athletes... Beautifully composed video.
Awesome! The altitude climbed every day was amazing. I can probably only finish two days before I'm too exhausted. There are many classic routes on Taiwan’s mountain roads. You chose a great route 👍
As a Taiwan-born U.S. citizen now living in the U.S., thank you for showing my beautiful birth country on TH-cam. My dream is to perhaps retire in Taiwan one day.

What a great road movie! Lovely story being told here... A long time ago I've actually been to Taipei, but is was only for a stop-over at the airport hotel. Emphasis in "independent".
Hmm indipendent eh?
What a cringe comment, the delusion and western propaganda is so awful.

Missing taiwan and mostly that route, i rode solo every weekend😊. Pave road in mountains and convenience store everywhere
