Flying an RC Kite Rogallo wing with an chase Drone FPV Roy Dawson video

I built the 32 engine size Little Stick with wide-stance landing gear 25 years ago. I decide one day to build a Rogallo wing for the aircraft. It's made of 48in carbon fiber tubing that you can buy at a kite shop online. It 5/16 OD. In critical areas, I added brass sleeves were needed. I added 7 flying wires to support the wing. The sail is made of ripstop nylon.

hey great plane! great flight it flew well. if you want to make one you dont need to sew you can buy fabric tape. when i applied some to my kite it was so strong and ever comes off ever again after day 2 it seems to be permanent. and it is lighter and cleaner than sewing also. happy flying!

For kicks, I was thinking about attaching a kite to one of my birds. Maybe one that can fly slow and fast. Hard to get my head around the speed. Congrats to the wife's great sew job.

Which one is more efficient in terms of Long range, fuel efficiency the RC Plane or the RC that you converted into Rogallo Wing???????

The CG expressed as a percentage from the tip of the root chord, and the angles of the main spars would be most helpful.

Hi Roy, super cool job. Did you ever manage to get it into the dreaded luff dive (where the AoA goes negative and the trailing edge sags downwards instead of up?). It killed many early rogallo pilots in the old days, it would be interesting to see it on an rc model

I'm fimaliar with that, 40 yrs ago that happens to a newbie flying and went staight down, he never pulled back the power and remember the prop was just under the wing, not like today's wings. I'm smart enough to make sure no negitive loads

Yes we had a guy trying to fly a rigollo with the prop on the end of the tube. A luff dive killed him. This was 40 yrs ago.
