These price rises are going to hurt. Not just us but everyone who uses energy (which is everyone). It doesn't help us to have energy prices increase, but it does change the ROI calculation quite a bit. The payback period changes from around 10 to around 5 years, and the ROI starts to break even in July... find out more in this video!

We are installing a 14.3 kWh system in a few months that will generate 26% more power than we need including charging our Tesla. Next year we plan on adding some batteries(s). We are hoping the PW3s will be available. Some of the leaked intel indicates we could get by with just ONE PW3 to power our home when the panels are no longer generating power. But given all the incentives we will probably OVERSIZE and get two. You can NEVER have enough power.

That is fantastic! Even without the PW3, which has a newer chemistry (LFP prismatic versus NMC on current PW2) - and a higher discharge/charge rate - the PW2 is no slouch. We have two PW2s and that can run an electric shower and the home - or charge an EV... So don't be put off by the PW2.
I'm glad you've got some incentives - sadly on the Isle of Man we only have disincentives (i.e. high energy bills), so avoiding the pain is key here.
My calculations (see my earlier video for the spreadsheet) had us at needing 2.7 powerwalls - hopefully we install a third one in the future!
One really can never have too much storage!
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment :)

I haven’t written off the PW2+ just yet, Tesla may reduce the price to compete the the newer PW3 that everyone will want. I could be induced if the price is right. But Uncle Joe is granting us in the US a 30% federal tax credit. So either PW will be a winner.

@@thomasjacques5286 That makes sense - really glad to hear on the other side of the pond that there's some support even as tax credits for installing renewables and storage.
You'll find that you eliminate your usage of the grid at the busiest and dirtiest (and probably most expensive) time, and you'll be well supported in your home whenever there's a power cut.
We don't even notice power cuts. Except for the last one when we saw our neighbours had all their lights off...
      Not even a flicker here.
      Powerwall is a game changer!

Thanks so much for the info in this vid'. We're thinking of going for solar very soon (Top of Lhergy Cripperty). New to all this, so trying to learn quick. 🙂

Glad it was helpful! Lead times for solar on island are around 6-9 months at present. Generally looking at £2k/kWp for solar, and get as much as you can! Here’s a longer video with more details including finances here: th-cam.com/video/KIrttwWWCmA/w-d-xo.html
