I really like how you break slides into archetypes. When I was at McKinsey with early tenure, my managers were always too busy to teach me these basics.
Heinrich, the level of your content, the didactic you have doesn't improve just big 4 starter players, but also me working to big corps and better organizing my presentations and way of work. Trully thanks!
2:00 3 main types of slides: qualitative, quantitative, and integrated. 2:30 different type of info you want to convey. 2:50 error in slide writing: first bullet is general idea, second is example. and the third is conclusion. this is false!! 3:50 this is text-heavy, so maybe not for main deck, but for the appendix. 4:20 the additional column for roadmap/ timing. if this is of interest to you. 4:55 for the other layout ideas, especially in changing the column headers, you can use timeline, process chart. 5:30 basic layout archetypes can be leveraged and expanded on. 7:20 quantitative slides. 7:25 quantitative slide: now here is arguably the mother of all quantitative slide layout. 8:20 an example of following this methodology. this is very basic but with this, you would never get a feedback of looking unprofessional. 9:00 many times, you don't need the first column since the charts itself is self-explanatory. 9:40 integrated slide: this is arguably the most interesting style of slide presentation 11:00 an example of integrated slide. often it takes more cognitive energy from reader and not direct make sense. 11:30 second example of integrated slide. not too far away from the blueprint.
Dear Heinrich, first of all: Thank you, great content and I also like the given insights about consulting firms. There is a problem on your website, that you posted fpr downloading the example sheets. After subscribe I get an error page. It would be great if you could fix this, thanks in advance.
Heinrich, you are a rockstar consulting machine with impeccable timing! I'm working on a Saturday... building a presentation and thinking about how I'm going to present both qualitative and quantitative data on a slide. I took a lunch break, watched a little TH-cam while I ate, and now I know exactly what I need to do. I even downloaded a template for it. Is your timing always this good? Thanks, and great job with this channel. I've recommended it to many.
Heinrich, Your videos are fantastic. They helped me land my first position in consulting. I still watch your videos in order to hone my skills and improve in the workplace. I would love to see a video on the McKinsey Problem Solving Game. Keep up the great work, Gil
Thank you for the sharing. Your advice is always interesting. I’m an investor director in a leading investment company in Africa and I can confirm Thinkcell is an awesome tool. All the best
Hello, Heinrich! Congratulations on your job! I have a question and a suggestion for you: 1) As far as I could find, Think-Cell is only available for corporate users. Is there a version for personal use? 2) As a suggestion, you should consider some pricing adjustments for your courses for those people from countries where the currencies are weaker. It makes the prices really high for us. Thanks a lot for all the knowledge you share here. Regards from Brazil!
Thanks for the feedback (and supporting the channel) - appreciate it! The feedback on pricing is very valid - we have not found a good, simple solution to offer tiered pricing yet, but this is something we are looking into. Appreciate it! Best, Heinrich
Where are the links for downloadable formats ? Super videos. You unearthed the cryptic close guarded excellence secrets of top consulting companies to simpletons. Kudos
I am working on a deck at the moment and was considering how to reduce the number of slides. Then, boom! You showed the way. Thank you as always. I am looking forward to receiving your emails, too.
Fantastic sharing, I've swapped jobs recently where presentation of information is a large part of it. This and the top down communication video are really gems.
Very informative and mind-blowing video. I am a graduate trying to learn all I can to become a better investment analyst and I absolutely loved the content of this video. Keep it up, mate! Quick suggestion: I think a series on behavioural best practices would be awesome (what to do in x situation, how to work more efficiently etc).
Great as usual. I also found it useful in building a top down story line of the deck with just the headline section of the presentation and then when I am finally good with it, go ahead and flesh out each action title in a cogent way.
Good video; But confused about the notion of "every slide is a table"...yes, that's true. I'm in middle management at Google and most slides are tabulated, but this isnt applicable across every slide? Sometimes, a table isn't the best choice to convey information.
@Heinrich: thank you for the insights. I subscribed and followed all instructions but never received an email allowing me to download the slide pro-formas. Can you please assist me?
I misunderstood the Think-cell offer. I thought I'd be able to take advantage of it. Unfortunately for me, when I tried to sign up for it, the site stated that a corporate email address is required to initiate the download. That's disappointing since I consult independently. Still, the content of the video is highly valuable. Thanks, Heinrich!
Hi evans, it usually only blocks the big consumer domains (yahoo, gmail etc) you should be able to sign up with any other address including your business domain or your university domain. Best!
Thank you so much for this video Heinrich! I have found your previous PowerPoint videos to be very helpful at my first boutique consulting internship so far :)
Very instructional video! I subscribed to the newslettter but was unfortunately not able to download the PPT file. Is there any other way to get hold of it? Thank you :)
I noticed that all of your slides use a white background. I prefer a black background to make it easier on the eyes. Is there any reason why a black background would not be good?

Indeed.. took me quite a while to understand these things as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Very nice. I started an MBA and my first assignment was to produce a slide deck so I kept the table format in mind.

Doing gods work as usual Heinrich, killed it
Do you add the chart titles via Thinkcell or as a text box from PowerPoint? Looks amazing
Hi Michele, chart titles are standard PowerPoint text boxes, with a line element below the text box :) Best, Heinrich
This is great! Really good inspiration for future slides
Super happy to hear that - thank you! Best, Heinrich
How can you add a callout in think-cell? Is this still available? I can't find it.
Thank you so much for the sharing!
Of course, thank YOU for watching Monthathip! Best, Heinrich
Very useful thanks!
Appreciate it, thanks Alistair! Best, H

Thank you. It's useful as usual!
Hi Heinrich, thanks for the video. Is there an alternative to Think Cell for Google Slides?
Not aware of any comparable solution for G Slides.. sorry! Best, H
Thank you!

Thank you very much!
Thank YOU for watching! Best, Heinrich
A deck should never be more than 12 slides. Thanks for the video!
Where did you get this recommendation from?
Yes. Do that and all of your presentations will look like all of the presentations of all other people.
This would not necessarily be a bad thing :) Thanks for watching Frank! Best, H
Are you Swiss or German?
I noticed that all of your slides use a white background. I prefer a black background to make it easier on the eyes.
Is there any reason why a black background would not be good?
Danke Heinrich
stunning ppt template designs...I feel like I can already do more biz presentation.
