@@eabaggins Ruben Freitas is not with the band anymore, he quit or got fired, I don't know. Guitarist/Back Vocalist Guilherme Henriques is doing main vocals now. They got a new Guitarist so he is able to do vocals only. For some time they toured as 4, then Guilherme did Guitars/Vocals.

@TheSkilfingar unfortunately there is. It is now becoming mainstream among other genres as well, that's why we see black influence in many weird, unrelated genres. Although these guys sound death metal at times but overall they managed it very well in my opinion. Huge respect.

One of the best metal bands going right now. Old school feel with a modern touch and amazing presence. These lads without a doubt are going to break through the underground and bring black metal to the masses.

This song is a nice mixture of strenght, rage and some melodic dark riffs, rare in modern, blk metal bands, this song sent me back to dark age. This is why blk metal is my favorite genre.
The energy and passion in the vocals combined with the stage presence is what I love about this. This is truly a refreshing artistic take on the genre.
Gaerea, Mgla, Uada and Batushka could easily be the new big 4 of Black Metal

Saw them live a few weeks ago at a small venue in Montreal with Black Braid and Wolves in the throne room. What stage presence and crowd acknowledgment. Out of the 3 ,my favorite experience. What a show. Too bad the set list for Garea was kept short. Love to see them Headline.
I saw the same show in Toronto. I thought Black Braid was incredible.

Shoutout to Spotify for recommending this song. This really blends the best elements of black metal, with incredible production and palatable mixing which people can digest far easier than older school black metal, or other variations of it. I very much look forward to what this band has to offer, it's diamonds like this that people need to look out for.
Absolutely incredible. Every time I thought I knew where the song was going, they'd pivot; & I love the band for that reason. Gaerea is such a gut-wrenching & pummeling experience. We are the Void; the Void is Us.

This is a great band and I like the music they are producing. They have good song structuring as well but it’s definitely not technical (guitar and bass). The drumming is the most technical aspect but the guitar/bass parts are not technical. Technical guitar/bass is 💩 like:

I’ve been playing guitar for 28 years and the riffs Beneath The Massacre and Rings of Saturn throw out are very technical. Next level 💩. This style of metal is a piece of 🎂 in comparison. That doesn’t mean this music is not awesome or any lesser as a musical art form either. There is just a BIG difference in technicality. That’s why one genre is called Black Metal and the other Technical Death Metal. Both are awesome to me and I enjoy both equally as much.

This sneek peak of the new album is a majestic piece of modern atmospheric Black Metal, It also sounds like it's a step forward in their music composition. Gaerea is definitely my newest favorite band when I listened to their 1st album 2 years ago. Can't wait to see them live in Latin America at the end of the year.

@@emergentform1188 That's how black metal has evolved over the decades, and it's evolved for the better. The simple, lo-fi origins were a start, but it had to change and progress. There's some incredible new-age black metal out there.
I saw this band once online, and I gotta say they really are good. Their concept is quite interesting, You can sense the melodic parts in the song wihtout making too obvious. Respect

I just had a near mystical experience while listening to Mirage. Such aggression with a very Complex but clear melody. I was absolutely stunned and mind-blown.
Savage as hell but really emotional, too. They always impress. When Limbo came out they seriously made quarantine tolerable with the videos and the drop.

The north of Portugal can be pretty gloomy and dark, due to its atlantic rainy climate. Mountains and forests etc. Obviously not comparable with norway but still. People mostly only think of the mediteranian, sunny south.
