In todays episode we will be talking about the Brinsea Ovation 56EX Incubator. This is by far the best incubator ever. Not only is it auto temperature controlling, auto turning, but also auto humidity. This unit is also perfect for duck eggs as it can auto cooling for a set time every day. You can also get extra egg holders for bigger eggs like goose eggs.
Before this incubator we had a farm innovations incubator from tractor supply that worked ok at best with a 50% hatch rate. In our testing so far the brinsea is at least 75% and should be higher. We will update you with the number below when we get our final numbers.

Thank you so much for posting this video, it helped me more than I can say. Your comments about the steps that might be a bit tricky was especially helpful-it actually helped me remain relaxed and not get frustrated. And in fact, in my relaxed state of mind I was able to come up with a shortcut.
I actually found it easier to assemble the tubing completely PRIOR to wrapping it around the spool. Although I did get a little stuck trying to attach the bit of tubing for the water bottle. My solution was a pair of tick tweezers… I easily inserted the ultra thin tip of the tweezers into the tubing, then opened the tweezers which stretched the tubing enough to easily attach it to the fitting.
Then it was a simple matter of winding the tubing around the spool. Easy peasy. I hope this shortcut helps someone else as much as you helped me 👍

Hi, thank you very much for your video. I have 2 questions about the 56 EX. Can you tell me if there is an alternative for the evaporation blocks? And can you tell me the diameter for the water hose? Pump hose? I think 2x3 or 3x4 mm?
    Many thanks for your help
    Greetings Toni

Has the turner motor gear fallen off yet? Keep an eye on it. Brinsea knows about it and want to sell me another assembly. Instead of just sending a gear.

How do you like it? Thinking about purchasing one soon.

I love it so far. compared to my last one where i had to check it and change water/humidity settings every single day, this one hasnt needed any intervention at all in its first 3 weeks of use. Also, I am doing duck eggs primarily and out of 30 eggs only had 3 that didnt develop by day 7, so the hatch rate should be pretty stellar.

There should be a better method to pump water.

I agree with you. Although this method does seem to work out decently well.

Wow… they’ve really gone up in price since I bought mine. Then right after it was delivered, several of our hens went broody and the incubator sat on a shelf for almost 3 yrs.
But times being what they are today, I dusted it off and put it to use for the first time-so I can help friends and neighbors… if need be.

I wanted to get this but it looks like more of a hassle than its worth. If it was 300 bucks maybe.

Used 2 x and won't heat or turn. We ordered extra trays so we have quite a bit invested in a plastic box.
I called and asked them to send a new top. They wanted me to pay to ship it back so they could inspect it. That's expensive, and I have invested too much in their bad products.
