3 things I never noticed about this game until this speed run.
1) Big Boo's No Hit box
2) Two Fireballs then a stomp.
3) The Sunken Ghost Ship backstory
There are quite a few levels I never knew had 3 Up Moons like Yoshis Island 1 and Vanilla Dome 3.
Big Boo no hit box literally turned my world upside down. What a revelation!

@@Eidenhoek that's part of the condition to complete this category, you have to get all 5 dinosaur coins in every single level, and all 7 moons hidden throughout the game

I loved this game in my childhood. So weird to think how long ago 1991 is now - that most people watching probably weren’t born yet when it came out. Makes me feel old. But this game still makes me feel like a kid again.
better yet, most of the people that were born when this game came out now have almost teenage kids of their own. I FEEL OLD.
Was born in 91. So It wasn't till 98-99 when I played it. Some of the best memories are with my older brother watching him show me all the secrets. So I was late playing it but I still got to grow up playing it.
I used to play this game back then with my sister, who passed away some time ago. Still love it. Still coming back to it. Good memories here, too :)

God, hearing about Super Ryu World get closer and closer to being met was so stressful, it really added a layer of intensity to the later levels of the game
I played a lot of super Mario world as a kid and I NEVER knew red levels meant multiple exits LOL
We were all stupid kids at one point.

I remember seeing the moons in the manual, but never finding one while playing.
I also never got the SPECIAL stages. So I guess I'll boot up Super Mario World this weekend and start checking out all those things I missed as a kid.
The dragon coins have always felt so useless and forgettable, so it's nice to see someone giving them some relevance by speedrunning collecting them all.
Sure, this run was tense, but not as tense as the fear of not getting to see Super Ryu World

I've been playing this game for almost 30 years and I just learned about spin flights.
Pretty proud I managed to 100% this when I was 10 with no internet or knowledge of the secret exits. Took me so long.
I did it on my game boy sp. Maxed score, lives and unlocked everything

You know, I never thought I'd wanna see all dragon coins and all moons in SMW, as well as all exits. But I'm glad this is here
When my friends and I were young and competed who is the best player, we compared the number of seconds we took to complete and substracted it by number of the credit score, the score we got from the bar at the end of each stage and the number of lives we got (we did account the life beyond 99) and added 60 seconds (or 1 minute) for each missing dragon coin and each death. (no bugs were allowed). I missed those days.

I've only found 1 moon in my playthroughs. Back in my youth it took me months to find all the exits. Makes me wonder all the stuff they're hiding in Odyssey

This is one of my favorite runs of SMW, would love to see more like this with self imposed challenges.
The level at time stamp 9:40, you can fly straight through it if you have a yoshi. Things are placed perfectly so Yoshi will bounce off of the saws and fur monsters. All you have to do is have a Yoshi and a cape, run and jump off the edge at the beginning and keep gliding. Takes you all the way to the end
But would that secure all of the dragon coins?

Man me too! When I was a kid I wanted to do all the castles and fortresses and that was the only one I could never get into! 😔
KiyokaMakibi i remember that fortress being the hardest. I hated it at first, but because I practiced and practised it so much, eventually I grew to like it when I finally beat it :)
I remember reading about how to find that exit in my local Nintendo magazine. It was a hand drawn illustration. Would probably never have found it otherwise!
Love this! Didn't know there's a lot of keys and secrets here! I only use to get through start world and finish the game when I was young haha!
I would imagine there's people who run Lunar Dragon on the GBA version, which does add Dragon Coins to the levels which didn't have them originally, and that probably includes fixing the Courtesy Coin.

I can't believe I never noticed that getting yoshi wings makes the yoshi blue. Maybe because as a kid I always went back to get a blue yoshi in star world everytime I lost him.

My first game and still my favorite! Still have my original Super Nintendo and SMW cartridge. I totally want to get it back out and play again. Great run. Lots of fun tricks I want to try.

Levels with multiple ending only require you to get all dragon coins on one of your runs. He has to come back there later
The two pipe mini-bosses only show their feet before they pop up on the American version of SMW. The version on the switch online is not that version. I was confused as heck why their feet weren't showing.

When I first read the title I thought it read world record by mistake.
I beat this game easily by spamming the spin button with the cape and spin jump and using yoshi. Those are the 3 things you mainly need to beat this game
