Patch tool has been my saviour for years now, one of Photoshop’s easiest and best options as highlighted here. Most people would go straight to the clone tool, not knowing about this wonderful ‘patch’ tool instead!

Thanks for this. How do you remove something that is on a edge though? i.e. remove an object behind someone's arm. I made my selection and dragged but I get this smudge effect from the arm onto the background. :(

Why doesn't the patch tool work on a new layer like the clone stamp tool which has sample from current layer and below?
My PS screen does not show the Source and Destination tabs. Where do I get them? I want to use the Patch tool for the first time and I'm trying to learn enough to use it on a really fun picture, but I'm missing those tabs and you used them in your tutorial, so I'm missing important elements. I have Content Aware, but not Source or Destination. Not sure what to do.

I'm trying to remove a white building and replace it with a blue sky but the colors don't blend, how would go about doing that?
The apply image step in 2:20 creates a new layer with every change in the layers below the new one? That's why you don't just copy (Ctrl+J) the othe first layer. Right?

It´s not working, I did what you did and it just darkens it after deselecting the selection I changed... it´s really frustrating
Been there, I understand. When that's happened to me, it's been one of two things-- patch mode or layer. Make sure the patch mode-- just to left of Source/Destination-- is set to normal. And make sure your selection is layer you want-- could be grabbing something darker. Good luck!
@@joecolletti I have the same problem. Patch mode is set to normal and my selection is on the new applied image. Looks like it's an opacity issue but all is set to normal opacity so?
yes i am having this exact same problem and i dont know how to fix it. it just fades the original area, doesn't replace it

Just spent hours trying to do something that this does automatically for you lol. Photoshop virginity lost.
nope sorry, doesn't work. I can't see your list of icons on the side panel, too small. I tried this and I get a pop up that says option click to... all I get is a healing brush when I shortcut with J - otherwise I can't even see what you're clicking on
I wouldve gotten rid of all the people, except the dog :)
