Everything is TOO EXPENSIVE. As a middle-wage earner, I can't pay $25 dollars for a simple burger & fries combo. That's $12 for burger, $3.50 fries, and $3 drink. Then, pay $5 bucks tip and taxes. And, it's easily $25 bucks -- probably $30 bucks. For me, I can stay home, cook a burger for $2 bucks or $2.50 and only spend 50 cents for frozen bag fries. Then, rest goes into savings or into making sure I can pay my rent for the month.
My husband and I are eating out way, way, less often now. It hurts my feelings so much paying lots and walking away still hungry afterwards. It's shamefull. Karen from Canada
Tipping needs to come to an end. In many states, servers are now being paid a living, wage health insurance, and sick days. The customers are paying for all of this through higher prices. The job has changed, and tips are no longer warranted.

Restaurants closing because high wages means they couldn’t afford to stay open without cheap labor. They were making too much money off the backs of underpaying workers. And many of the people working in these restaurants still draw on welfare benefits. These places are underpaying workers while they live the high life and the government (i.e., us) are still on the hook for supporting these workers with housing and food. I say let the owners either take some shifts or close shop. Their value was negative.
This popped up in my feed, and while im in Indiana, and not Ohio, I've been seeing the lack of 24 hour restaurants way before the pandemic. Even in the best of neighborhoods in my area of Indiana, many chose to stop being 24 hours, due to lack of people dining in at 2 and 3am. My area is also slowly seeing the end of restaurants that serve dinner. The ones not serving dinner are primarily independent restaurants. Besides a lack of people dining out during the overnight hours, but people overall don't want to work overnight hours in many industries. Even McDonald's by me is no longer 24 hours. They won't tell u the real reason!😮
Is this the old 'Big Egg' on Detroit. Third shift, that's a hoot. After the bars close at 2am...
I was a 3rd shift server in college. It sucked. It could be very slow and the ones that did come in weren't the type of people I wanted to be serving. I always wondered why they stayed open past 10 or 11 pm.
$60 for my teen son and I to eat pancakes at IHop. That was last year, we stopped eating out because of this.
PB&J all the way!
Choosy moms do NOT choose JIF.
But the government said inflation is only temporary. Should I trust the government?
Eating out cost too much at any time. I would probably just finish driving home and make something there
Yup. Been doing that more often. Love the savings.
Not surprised. Ive been to a few denny's at 6AM. At one, the entrance door was locked. Not open. The other, "Sorry, we don't have a cook all night. The morning cook will arrive shortly if you want to wait". lol
Pack a damn sandwich, why eat grease at 2-3-4 am
Exactly
why not
The same reason you eat at daytime
It's not safe to be open 4 hours, let alone 24
Over here in Hammond, Indiana we last all of our 24 hour places, and every buffet too. Even the local slot machines hevens close down their so called all you can eat joints. So sad. 😢😢😢😢
Won't say why? Inflation? Or....?
Keeping the shutdown going for 18 months was a killer for businesses. And we all know that didn't need to happen. But we got fed a big line about mortality rates, danger, etc . . . The long term effects of the shutdown are impacting our entire society and economy, and will last for 20 or more years.
Sounds like a great place to eat with good food and good employees. A win-win situation!!
All restaurants need to close. Dont be so lazy and cook at home.
Never seen a 24 hour restaurant besides fastfood joints.
In NYC there are many of them near busy subway stations etc.
Who remembers when mchickens were a dollar lol 😂good old days
increase minimum wage to $50 per hour, close all restaurants, except high-end places-rich people cannot be inconvenienced.
Welp if greeder companies weren't laying people off to raise their stock prices to give their executes bigger windfalls and instead paid their people, people would have money to spend at these restaurants.
excellent food there ,its been about 20 yrs since i last ate there -good to see it still open !
We vacationed in Honolulu. I’d always heard about how expensive everything was. We found it was about the same price as home. I was like “people are just crazy…. Oh wait, home has become as expensive as an isolated island in the Pacific where everything has to be brought in…. Shit.”
🤷♂️ different strokes different folks, but I guess for me I wouldn’t want no greasy food at 2in the morning
When do you want yours?
@@tonyfair487 I don’t eat greasy food 😝 i’m a diabetic, and I watch what I eat 🤷♂️
over here in Texas the main ones that do that are IHOP and Denny’s, but at night, they suck ass, so wouldn’t be surprised if they start doing that out here as well, who the hell wants to eat shitty food in the middle of the night and wait an hour just to get a plain cheeseburger or whatever
Kinda sounds like Cracker Barrel. More wait staff than customers and it will still be 10 minutes or more before someone takes your order and 20-30 minutes before you see a plate in front of you.
@TheRealJoeMama1 whr u live? Not in VA.
Good to hear some are still open.... don't need as many open as there used to be.
Cook at home shit expensive
Hopefully, From now on, hopefully many, many, many more people will finally believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and finally be saved and have everlasting life. Amen. Love.
🙏🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💖
Can't find a 24hr. diner in the Philly area anymore
Cute Reporter👍
Let's go brandon.
??
What if just what if the restaurants are closing because the food sucks! I know a restaurant in San Diego that is open 24 hours where the food is great no matter the time of day and it doesn’t look like they’re suffering.
Im more worried about the workers and whether they can even make ends meet with the low pay
Love this restaurant these people are great Americans and understand it. They’re serving a purpose for the common good. God bless this restaurant.
The night shift keeps the world going
Third shifters get off at 8am. All diners and coffee shops are open by then.
It’s second shift…people getting off at midnight…who have a problem finding places open.
An actual NEWS station did this story!? And didn’t understand the DIFFERENCE!?
That’s what happens when scumbags ruin ur stores.
You get what you vote for
Strange... the news keeps saying the economy is better than it's ever been. How can this be? /s
Wide availability of smartphones combined with social media has also had a big impact. Many places, including supermarkets and big box stores, were already reducing hours before the events of 2020. It's a shame, but without enough business, doesn't pay to stay open 24/7. Glad some are still able to.
Also, google COPYCAT RECIPES, and you'll see why restaurants are doomed.
Whataburger in Texas in Oklahoma is only open at the drive-thru due to crime and homeless
Thank the Democratic Party. How Pathetic.
Thanks to the republican party...how pathetic....
@@leanneb9529 and your ignorance continues. How Pathetic. Thank you for your Opinionated reply. lol 😂
Moron alert@@leanneb9529
Happened under trump too. Doesn’t matter who is president.
@user-ln8hp4vt5z I'm tired of these idiots that are to ignorant to admit Biden did all this...
They don’t have staff. So many service industry workers left after the abuse they got during Covid.
If you’re an owner of a 24 hour restaurant and you work those shifts fine - otherwise they should be closed- it’s ridiculous our service industry here anyway- things should be closed so everyone has a shot a living
