Undoubtedly one of the greatest songs in this type of music ever..can listen to over and again - live version is on a par with the cd version... This is music everybody...Bob
takes me back to being 16 and thinking this was THE one and only genre worthy of listening...and feeling superior to the fact that no one knew this band and i enjoyed listenining to it with a handful of my "enlightened" friends...how close minded was i... fun times tho..
This song is incredible. I wish I was more active from '98 to '02 when melodic hardcore/metalcore was still in its peak, before it became mainstream and "the next big thing" on places like MySpace and MTV. Right around the time of this performance was truly "The End of an Era" for bands like Hopesfall.
Great song and album. They really excelled at song structure and timing with instrumentals and vocals. Often bands flood their songs with too much vocals and never leave breathing room for the guitar and drums
hopesfall was the greatest metalcore band there ever was. I was there hellfest 03, it was like the messiah had came, I wept like a baby. Never experinced anything like that.
The main 5 Im thinking of are Hopesfall (who went from incredible [TFOW, NWTSO] to good [Satellite Years] to something completely different [A-types, TMN]), skycamefalling (broke up in 2003), 7 Angels 7 Plagues (broke up in 2002), From Autumn to Ashes (went way downhill after Too Bad You're Beautiful in 2001) and Poison the Well (great debut [Distance Makes..] followed by a truly classic album [Opposite of December], then a less-classic album [TFTR] and then way downhill with YCBY and Versions).
What are you talking about? I seen them last Friday. Setlist: East of 1989 Battle of The Bay Rx Contender The Pretender Cubic Zirconias Are Forever The Ones Swamp Kittens Bird Flu The Bending Breathe From Coma Of course...the entire band that recorded A-Types and Magnetic North..except Jay has quit again so there's 4 new guys and these are the only songs they knew how to play so far.
seriously, if you listen to the recorded version of this song, you can true emotion when he screams, it seriously gives me the chils. this is the type of scream that you never hear anymore, everyone is so copied and and repeated now adays.
duude i agree!! PTW, Hopesfall, and EVERYTIME I DIE is a huge one too. Now they are like southern rock or some shit. Had a sweet debut ( burial plot bidding war), then another great CD (last night in town). They wre still math core with crazy tempo changes and guitars and then they went a little less hardcore and not as crazy with hot damn. Then gutter phenomenon and the newes CD is like southern metal.
I'd love one of those videos with doug, I have "A New Day" with doug on vocals but the audio quality is horrible". I'd love to trade with you though, even though the audio isn't great, the intensity is there that Doug always had.
Not sure how many people would be interested, but I have a few songs on video which I recorded in like 2000 when Doug Venable was the vocalist. I'll try to post them on youtube one of these days... it's just a matter of transferring from 8mm to PC.
Came back to it on and off these past 16 years

Greatest Metalcore song of all time?

"i guess you've found a way, to make ten minutes, last forever"

I agree with that....but "The Satellite Years" was some kind of a follow up to the "no wings to speak of" ep
duude i agree!!
