Twin Cam rocker box gaskets

  • In this video I replace the leaking rocker box gaskets in my 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King. This procedure is basically the same for any Harley-Davidson Twin Cam engine. There are some minor differences, from one year or model to another, but for the most part they're the same. Softails have a bit less room on the rear cylinder, newer bikes will have a different breather valve, but that's all pretty minor. Be sure to have the appropriate service manual for your bike and use the correct specifications and procedures as outlined in the service manual.
This video is long, but actually doing the job takes a lot longer. I can usually do this job in about 3 to 4 hours, but if you've never done it before and are a decent mechanic expect to spend about 5 to 6 hours on it, longer if you're not as skilled.
This job does require opening fuel lines, and fuel will be spilled in the process, so be sure to plan accordingly for that and don't have any open flames in the work area.
I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful.

For the cross over fuel line, I put a Fuel Line Quick Release Disconnect Coupling on it to make taking the fuel tank off a lot easier.

Thanks for sharing! I’m sure I’ll be doing this someday. Dumb question, what symptoms do you see/hear when your breather assembly goes bad?

@@roadkingrider6532 you'll get oil dripping out of the bottom of the air cleaner after a ride.
