A shelter from the elements on a remote ridge. Good food. The warmth and friendship of a cracking long log fire. And solitude. A time to commune in peace with nature. "Yesterday is ashes, tomorrow is wood...only today does the fire burn bright" What a great video Kevin. Relaxing and inspirational. Bravo!!
Words to live by, Pinepuppy! The fire was burning bright, indeed. I need to do this more often to cleans the soul, and clear the mind. Glad I got to share it with you!
Very relaxing video Kevin , nice location for an overnight adventure on that ridge. Serenaded to sleep by the neighborhood coyotes, kept warm by a long log fire that’s still going in the morn to cook up a fine breakfast. Nicely done.
Howdy, Don! Yeah, those coyotes kept me awake 1/2 the night. They broke into two packs and were howling in on both sides of camp. Probably wanted a taste of my venison & onions. I saved some fire starter for the next day, but didn't need it. The fire log lasted the whole trip!
I appreciate getting to go along with you! You must have had a good quality sleeping bag with you (18 ° F) I find it amazing, how much I get out of your time in the woods!!!
Still learning every time I go out, Ron. One thing I learned is it's harder for an old guy to stay warm. I left my winter bag back at the cabin, and opted for a 20 degree bag and wool blanket. Luckily, I had a down jacket stuffed in my pack. The wind kicked up at night, and I could feel the loss of heat. That's why I took the liberty to eat a double portion of bacon & eggs for breakfast. Good to hear from you. You can join me any time!
That was most excellent! Very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday evening. If'n you had yer gitfiddle you and the Yotes could have put on quite the show, but you'd probably had to share the victuals and maybe a snort of medicine. I hope your year is filled with opportunities to do a lot more of these outings.
Thank you, Kirby Creek. Yeah those yotes wanted victuals alright. I was cooking venison steaks and onions, and they have a nose. Still quite a bit of winter left here, and I hope to get out again soon. Take care, my friend!
what a beautiful spot to camp, I loved the fire and hearing the coyotes. That breakfast was amazing looking. I have a very similar enamel cup too. Amazing shelter set up. I loved seeing the snow fall too
Just outstanding work my friend. You really did a great job with this video. Love the spot you chose and the tarp shelter. The meals looked great too! Was the little lantern you used an antique? My girlfriend was all about that so I told her I’d ask. Great stuff Kevin, I really like the direction you’re going in with this video and can’t wait to see the next one. God bless you brother and have a great week!
Howdy Shane! That is a mini yacht lantern. It is an old keep sake, but a heavy bugger. I just had to take it with, but a candle lantern works better in the cold. Thanks for the kind words, my friend. I always appreciate your applause and encouragement. Blessings back to you, brother!
