Thanks for putting this up. I believe it is the only install video for the x 300. My x came with the stock handguards, so I am on the fence about getting these, or getting the adjustable levers that the guy from Australia had a video on. I really like your videos. I just got my relay and a usb charging port, so I will have to go back and review your other install video.
Thank you for your comment! It's encouraging that my videos are helpful to you. I don't have the relay/charger port for my bike. I've been on the fence about that mod.
Hey Dodger, nice seeing you here. there is not enough videos of the little versys with accesories, we need you (and Uthe54) to do on camera everything you do to the bike. sending hugs from Sydney!
Now the weights are out for good how is the stability now without the weights? Not sure if I would bend the handle only for those Busters to have them on.
I installed the T-Rex Racing version of the aluminum bars and then the Barkbusters plastic that came as one system. The removal of the stock bar weights wasn't to bad but where things got sideways is the install instructions that came with the T-Rex aluminum backbone bars said to watch a TH-cam video which I did but it wasn't thorough enough. The parts with the bar kit wasn't going to work and the go to video was not showing that the stock internal bar weight needed to go back into the bar then the provided a screw was to long and bottomed out inside the internal treads of the stock bar weights before the new bar cap/end could make contact so I had to cut the bolts. And another half hour of trial and error I got them all assembled. I remember putting Barkbusters on my Yamaha YZ250 years ago and it was a mess also.
I hear ya! My first dirt bike was a Yamaha TTR125 and it was a piece of cake to install hand guards. I now have a KLX250 and this Versys X300, and both of them were major projects to get handguards installed. I really like the protection they provide, but they can become a pain at times - to install, or if you crash and bend one on a trail and it limits your ability to steer!
No. The whole weight assembly is held in place with rubber o-rings. The bolt just attaches the outer black weight to the inner silver weight. There are no expanding wedges involved.
Totally understand how you broke the throttle cable. What a pain in the butt. Agree that even though they are designed for the bike they are not a simple install and the instructions are not detailed enough.
Not sure if they’ve changed the design, but mine went on with no clearance issues at all. Nothing broken, no cussing, and cleared my Madstad windshield even. And the bar ends came off in 2 min per side with no lube. Might have just got lucky. 😅
I have not really noticed a significant difference, but that could be because I was not bothered by the vibration before or after, so just didn't see anything. As 'On The Pegs' mentioned - I do notice vibration in the aftermarket non rubber footpegs, but I'll still take them over stock because I just couldn't stand very long at all with the stock rubber ones.
I did not lower the seat on the Versys X. I am fine with it, but I've gotten more used to taller (relative to my height and weight) bikes. If this was my first bike, I think I would still be okay, but would seem intimidating at first. Check out some of Megs Braap's videos on short rider tips. She tears up on the dirt!

Well done. Got the same bark buster on order, will have to view this video again when I go to install my set. Cheers

Make sure to capture a video. I would like to watch you do it and see how it compares - if you have the same headaches that I did or not.
That’s the pro tip man. Loosen the brake and clutch bolts to fit! Thanks so much!🏆

If you turn the end bolt counter clock ways the bar weights will loosen up and pull out easy.

Hello, good video ... after the handguard installation, have you noticed that it causes any vibration?
Well I did. Not terrible but above 90km/h it vibrates. The footpegs without rubber are much worse above 90.

@@uthe54 forgot to mention my footpegs are aftermarket too. Boots would slip right off from the OEM pegs I guess.
Great instructional.....
How is the seat height for we short guys? did you
lower? how ?

Great video.
righty tighty lefty loosy
Don't you just unscrew the bolt which releases tension inside??? Watching this made my brain hurt.
I wish it were that easy.
