Summer Gators! (Big Northern Pike - July 2024)

- Hey guys! For todays adventure I decided to target one of my favorite species - the very aggressive Northern Pike! I like to target Pike a couple of times a year and I have my best success of catching them during the summer. I went to the best Pike fishery in the entire state - the Passaic River.
I threw a variety of baits including Mepps spinners, big topwater baits, and jerkbaits. The bite was slow at first but then it picked up and I caught my target species - a really big and ferocious Northern Pike! I also lost another huge Pike a few minutes later. It was such a rewarding feeling catching an aggressive Pike especially after the slow start - persistence pays off!
The next morning I headed over to a small pond that I have not fished since early Spring hoping to catch some more fish. It did not take long for me to catch a very aggressive Pickerel on topwater!
Another Summer Gator! I also caught a couple of other species - this pond always produces!
It was an exciting and fun filled past couple days of Fishing catching Summer Gators!
