- Audiences seem to love “Ted Lasso,” but getting the show made was not easy for creators Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly. When asked how studios received their pitch, Hunt deadpanned, “What’s the opposite of a bidding war?” cbsn.ws/3KXsc1B

Ted Lasso has 3 important ingredients,
Heart, humour and a brilliant cast ❤
Funny how he wasn't one of the 3 co-creators of the show, but everything everyone loves about the show (goofy silly positivity, friends/coworkers/team as family, dramatic heart and compassion, etc) are all due to executive producer Bill Lawrence. If you see his other past series (Scrubs, Shrinking, Cougar town) they all have the same qualities .
Wait, Shrinking is in the past?
I didn’t know that Shrinking had comedy to it! I thought it was mostly drama but hearing it’s like Scrubs AND this AND Roy Kent is one of the creators?
Next on my list as I finish season 3 and the others you listed as well! 😁
@@Nerdrakere Shrinking also has Brett Goldstein as a co-creator along with Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel
It was THE best show I’ve ever seen, I hung on ever episode, each and every member of the show played incredibly. You know in the last show it’s left it up for another show stopper. BRING IN ON LIKE NOW
Incredible series. I just watch it over and over and over.
The best show in a long, long time!
Such a great show
Brilliant ... loved it
Ted teaches me "even if you lack on some or lots of things, as long as you are optimistic, you can handle it"
I was for SURE this show wasn’t going to work and I loved the commercials being a soccer fan all my life in America.
After just finishing watching two seasons of the show, it does hurt slightly to hear Ted and Beard calling footy "soccer" (shudder)
The term Soccer actually comes from England.
You can blame England for that. They coined it, not here across the pond.
@@isaiahayers1550the world calls it football or futbol though
@@axelace1906 no. Quite a few countries call it Soccer and quite a few other countries call it something else entirely.
Where is the full interview?
Linguistically creative students at the University of Oxford in the 1880s distinguished between the sports of “rugger” (rugby football) and “assoccer” (association football). The latter term was further shortened to “soccer” (sometimes spelled “socker”), and the name quickly spread beyond the campus. - Britannica
Cool copy-paste skills Jimbo.
@@13has Thanks. Was there something wrong with c&p that information? I properly cited it.
Hey 60 minutes, will you please ask Lesley, “can it be verified??”
All you people screaming "It's football, not soccer", please stop. Things are called different terms between our two countries. What's an aubergine again? Or a capsicum?
It's truly pathetic to fight over two slightly different dialects of the same language isn't it
But really, what is the opposite of a bidding war?
According to the AI overlords "The opposite of a bidding war is a bidding lull or a bidding drought. This refers to a situation where there is little or no competition among buyers for a particular item or property, resulting in a lack of bidding activity and potentially lower prices. In such a situation, buyers may have less urgency to make an offer, and sellers may have to lower their asking price to attract interest."
You pay the studios for wasting their time.
@@jjrunsin your profile pic you look just like my gay friend Brian
Wow didn't know the Scrubs dude was involved.
I couldn't hate soccer more than I do. But this show is now in my top 5, all-time.
What happened to bill lawrence?? He was suchhhh a hottie
Omg Nora O'Donnell is so beautiful 😍
did the interviewer just called Jason "Lasso" and he responded? 🤣
The show was an innocent family show but the ending Ted giving it all up to return to USA to part see his kid ( because he is divorced) he is managing a prem league club he could jet over whenever he needed to now he has no jobb
First of all spoiler warning? The ending has only been out a year. Second of all Ted felt actually being there for his son was much more important than managing a team on the other side of the world. Also in the finale he was coaching his son's soccer team so he has a job, but he's also probably made enough money to live frugally for a few years.
Football not soccer
It's both
You come over to the states and call it football, you'll be laughed outta here. They're in the states during this interview, so just stop it.
This sport (Association Football/Soccer) originally comes from England. English people have a habit of making slang by adding -er to the ends of words. England took the "soc" from "association" and basically added that "er" on the end. England is where the name "soccer" comes from and the (real life) show in Ted Lasso *about* Association Football is called...Soccer Saturday.
OK but it’s football not soccer
It's also Soccer. The English came up with that one long, long ago.
Sorry but typical American media just viewing everything through American colored eyes. "It's not about soccer" the whole rest of the world views it as a soccer related comedy/drama. Just because America doesn't care a football and more about the jokes/drama doesn't mean we have to dismiss what made the show popular abroad
I think what they're saying is something along the lines like The Office isn't about selling paper.
What audiences take from the show is their prerogative. Just as it is the prerogative of the series creators to explain their vision for their show.
I’m American, I can see what you mean.
I'm English, I don't view it as a show about football. the show isn't about football it's so much more than that
It is absolutely not a show about soccer/football. Only people who haven't watched the show think it's about soccer/football.
Why make a story of this ? Seems like ur average movie
It's a critically acclaimed TV show.
It's a hilarious very well written comedy with dynamic characters and storylines
have you watched it? no? then shush.
It’s not a movie, it’s a TV show, and it’s had unprecedented success
With average toxic males???
Never heard of it. This piece makes me even less interested
such an insightful commnent. thanks for the contribution.
@@lilianaisabel9108 thank you, I needed that 🤣
Nobody cares about your opinion. Isn’t that amazing!
Then why are you here?
I am the opposite of a soccer fan and don't enjoy the "woke" tendencies within the show itself... but this is one of the most wholesome shows out there. One of my favorites. Give it a chance.
