yeah Man. I watch all of your projects & enjoy getting discarded/neglected piston-powered machines back in working order as well. it’s satisfying & can be lucrative, but it’s also fun as hell to go out riding on something cool. we’ve also seen Chuck grow up on this channel. keep creating content & we’ll keep pulling for you, Dude. good luck with this 660. they’re a blast to rip.
I've enjoyed every single one of your videos and am very impressed how far you've come in such a short time. I'll be sending more people to your channel as soon as I find more enthusiasts that haven't already subscribed. I wish there was more I could do. There's been A LOT of non running quads on the marketplace lately. I think I even saw this one on there. There was even a frame n a pile of parts that a guy said was a 400ex lol
If i still had it id send you my oem top end, had a new piston with rings and extra set of vales with seal. Put that 686 kit on it with hot cam, and never looked back. Fyi check forewarx tensioner guide. Big piston, 88mm, 686 is a 102mm. Pisstin and jug. With the 699 combustion chamber it makes a ton of power.
It always amazes me at how many people don’t take care of their stuff and when they try to fix things they bandaid it back together because they have no idea what they are doing and just making it worse. 🤦🏼♂️🥴
I totally agree with you. I am not very good with mechanic work but I like watching his channel to learn about it. I am in IT and recently had an old lady bring me her old laptop to look at. She told me that someone that used to live with her tried working on it but could not fix it and left a note saying "needs hard drive wire soldered and probably needs hard drive." So when I looked at it, oh boy did I see some crazy hillbilly shit. So first thing I saw was that the person tried fixing the charge plug by wrapping the wires and then hot glueing it to make it not conduct electricity. Well that's a fire hazard I thought. I tested the charger and it was 12v as specific on the charger. However, that was odd since most laptop chargers are between 18-19.5v. I looked up the stock charger for her laptop and sure enough I was right, its 18.5v, so not only did the guy do a wack job of trying to fix a charger, but its the wrong charger, so the laptop will not turn on with a dead battery and that charger even if that was the only thing wrong with it. Spoiler alert, it wasn't. Next I opened up the laptop to see what the person was talking about with the hard drive wire going from the hard drive to the motherboard. Well, I found the connector that plugs into the motherboard was completely cut, all of those wires and thus he thinks someone should just solder the wires to the port. Sigh, dumb as it should just get a new hard drive wire. I have no idea why someone even cut that connector off. Then I looked at the hard drive and it had many corrupted files for the operating system but no bad sectors. The hard drive also failed to let me see some portions of the drive. So the hard drive is iffy and probably needs to be replaced along with the operating system as I could not access the registry to maybe get the activation key off of it for win 10. I would have needed more investigation for a definitive answer but I just decided to move on and look at other stuff. So the next thing I spotted was when I tried using the universal laptop charger, the port was damaged from the guy trying to jam the wrong charger into the charge port and it was giving me a flashing white light. The next thing I saw was the plastic piece that is held on with a screw was broken off, not a big deal as there is other clips on the piece to hold it in but still annoying. The last thing I saw that he did wrong was he bent the keyboard cable going to the motherboard. These cables are very fragile, so it needed a new keyboard as well most likely. I had no way of testing the battery since the laptop does not turn on because of all the other problems. So needless to say, she just decided to get a different one as I told her everything that was wrong with it and what the other guy did. She then told me she figured that as the guy was eventually arrested for drugs and the laptop been sitting collecting dust ever since then for 6 months. So I know what its like to see someone try to "bandaid" shit together.
Got a 2000 warrior in a week ago no oiler rings on piston. Started but slapped like hell. Got it handled and asked wtf, guy said he put all rings in box on from the kit, the oil rings were in bottom of box.
I see so many 1st gen Raptors for sale ( at bargain prices) that haven’t run in years likely due owners not wanting to deal with them when it’s one of the most simplest fixes… check the stator, the windings go bad prematurely especially in the 01s, 02s.

If you link the new timing chain with the old one you can run the new one through and disconnect the old one without taking any of the engine off except the cam/timing sprocket cover Also why does it have twin carbs on a single cyl? Why not one larger carb? 🤯
The thing that would have concerned me when buying would be the goop at the base of the cylinder liner - a new crankcase would be pricey. Don't recall you saying what that was all about ?

the raptors have a compression release on the end of the camshaft, it won't have much until it starts and throws the weights
