Once again a spot on analysis of one of my alltime favorites. You two are the best!!!! Open minded, incredibly insightful, respectful true lovers of great music. I always look forward to your "namaste TH-cam " intro. Mahalo from Maui
Funny story behind this song. One day James and Cliff Burton were watching an old movie called the “10 Commandments”. When the angels came and executed first born of those who did not paint their door with lambs blood, that is when Cliff looked at James and said “ whoa, that’s creeping death man!” Long story short that’s how they came up with the name of the song lol.
That's the story they told the public. They were actually forced to be Christian by their employers/agents who just happened to be jewish. It's also why they have so many songs about the fabrications of the torah, Bible and quran. Same book by the way just plagiarised in different forms from paganism.
Kirk Hammet wrote the riff at 4:06 in his early teenage years and he said it's still very emotional for him to play that riff Live 30 some years later.
Yeah I love that story so much! The torah was my favorite growing up, it told me that I have to mutilate myself, that the natural naked human body is disgusting and I need to cover it up to protect my modesty, that I need to put money above any and all morals and that gay people shouldn't exist! What a great book to teach to every child, the Bible and the quran are also by the same authors! ❤️ 🇮🇱 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 ❤️
Creeping Death isn't talked about as much as the other songs from the Ride The Lightning Album but is right up there with the rest of them. Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets are metal masterpieces that still stand firm even now and maybe more so today.
The song indeed have a very deep meaning The heartless Pharaoh still refused to free the Israelite slaves. So God, brought about one last plague, which was so terrible that it was certain to persuade Pharaoh to let his slaves go. That night, God sent the angel of death to kill the firstborn sons of the Egyptians. God told Moses to order the Israelite families to sacrifice a lamb and smear the blood on the door of their houses. In this way the angel would know to 'pass over' the houses of the Israelites. This is why the festival commemorating the escape from Egypt is known as Passover.
Haha, you guys are analyzing this like true metalheads now. And don't worry, I've listened to this song for years never even knowing it was biblical references. Just feed off the energy of the song... Ride the lightning!
You know.. i first heard this song or bought the album “ Ride the Lightning “ when i was in 8 th or 9 th grade .i think i had the tape before “ Master of Puppets” release in summer 86.. anyhow..all those years ..i never paid attention to the lyrics .. they were just another cadence to me ..as a bass player... great open minds ... 🔅😁
great reaction! Most Americans don't really know the story of Moses and the Exodus except from watching the old movie "The 10 Commandments"! LOL This is a great song because they take bloody elements from christianity and show them literally, displaying the brutality inherent in faith -- brilliant!
It is always a pleasure to share god music with people you know will appreciate it!
