  • I used to think the Nikon F was the best camera for built quality and the Exakta was the best looking one. I changed my mind. Behold the mighty Edixa Reflex from 1954.

    Good video and thank you for the context and historical commentary. I'm script writing for videos featuring vintage gear and this was yet more inspiration for me. Peace.

    Interesting camera! I have an early example on the bench now. Overall feeling of build quality is very good, even if when looking inside you can tell is a bit crudely constructed. Keep it up!

      At the same time, it's easier to fix. In a few days or so I'll upload a video about a camera from the same era.

    Wirgin refused to spend money on product development because the company's president was embezzling money. When the company went bankrupt this was revealed. The workers purchased the company during the reorganization, but by that time it was too late. They were producing the same cameras they had been since the 1950s, and rushed a new product to market, the Edixa Electronica, which hadn't been properly developed. So the company tanked a second time. The real tragedy of this is that because of the embezzlement scandal, they lost Heinz Waske (the company refused to fund his products), who took his design for a compact point and shoot camera to Rollei - it became the Rollei 35!

    Wirgin made a stereo camera, not too bad looking either. I have a Realist 45 in my collection, similar style, also German.

    Hello Dan.
    Do you get a crisp and sharp picture in the viewfinder when focusing during a landscape photo?
    I shot my first roll and all pictures was crisp and sharp in viewfinder. But on wrong distance on the scale on the lens compared to real life. Didnt think it matterd since i saw a sharp picture in viewfinder... but when developed some picture came back unsharp with good color and lighting and didnt seem to be caused by movement because slow shutter...
    Do my camera need a service by an expert maybe?
    Best regards
    Alfons

      check if the prism is neatly seated. When I got this camera, the prism was not installed snugly and it might cause this. Just do this test : Focus through the finder, then remove it and look at the focusing screen. if it is in focus too, then it might be an issue with the mirror angle, but i'd check the most obvious now.

      @@MrAnalogDan12 hello again.
      This has been checked. Cant focus either in prism or at focus screen. A local camera repair man couldnt find any fault with the camera. He thought it might be time for glasses on old me.
      But he was glad to see such old camera in use and in that condition. He had sold many of them back in the days. Fun story!
      Anyhow thanks for trying to help!
      Keep up with your videos they are good to watch!
      Best regards

    Can you shoot colored film with these cameras?

    • @MrAnalogDan12
      @MrAnalogDan12  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure thing ! Color film was around in the 1930's. The only drawback is the lens coatings, you won't get saturated colors like modern cameras.

      @@alfonsgustafsson4301 If yours is not working properly, get it repaired. These cameras are simple machines, a good camera technician can fix them. No complex electronics in there.

      @@MrAnalogDan12 ofcourse i will see how the pictures look. And Take a decision on the result. I am new to film and analog so might be rookie misstake also if the picture come out bad.. haha! But i think you will se if there is any wrong to the internal parts or if its user fault? Guess i will find out! Wish me luck!

      @@MrAnalogDan12 Hello again. Sorry for all the questions. I read in my instruction manual that the knob on the left side while shooting were you set the ISO. They call it a ”film indicator” is that the case? Is it just a indicator for the opterator of the camera? Does it not affect anything inside the camera? Or am i just not understanding it correctly?
      Feel free to answer if you want but understand if you will not!
      Best regards from Sweden.

    Does this camera shoot in Colour?

    • @MrAnalogDan12
      @MrAnalogDan12  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, as long as you can find a color film for any camera, it will shoot in color. This one uses the classical 35mm so you're good to go.
