ITS TINY but mighty!!! Let's Ride the W12 Route

- Before you say anything in the comments, this video is slightly inspired by @rikufryderyk's video of the W12, but this is a slightly updated version!
Whilst I was adventuring Walthamstow, I found the smallest Bus that is only on one route! Because of this, the roads that this tiny(but mighty) bus goes through, it is deemed "unique" as it can squeeze through the narrow road through Walthamstow Village as the divers provide a "Beyond space & Time moment", believe me if there's parked Cars obstructing the way or one wrong move from the Bus Driver then its gonna be a long day!
The W12 provides a pivotal service around Walthamstow, the village, Whippps X hospital, Eagle Pond, Snaresbrook, south Woodford and Wanstead.
As exciting as this looks, unfortunately the route is set to change in early September, it will no longer go through the Village, Eagle Pond and terminate at Wanstead, instead it will reroute down to Leytonstone and will go up to Woodford Bridge replacing the w14.
One thing I forgot to add is that W12 is deemed to get electrics in early 2025 meaning the optare solo's might go on the 309, W9 or maybe scrap...

I do think it's a shame that the W12 is getting rerouted away from the village. Having grown up in Walthamstow as a bus loving kid, I have very fond memories of playing in the park and watching W12s drive past on the tiny roads every half hour, and I still think there's something very charming about these cute buses driving through the village and the quaint Church Lane. I do think this section should be kept the way it is, not only for this reason but also the obvious connection between the village and the hospital which is now lost to the elderly who can't easily walk over to Hoe Street or Church HIll.
Great video by the way, the interviews with the locals were a nice touch!
I think the reason why its going to divert from Walthamstow Village is because they are going to make it into a pedestrian and cyclist only zone.
I thought it was already a cyclist only zone. Or is it just no entry for cars at one end?

Where my nan lives (north wales), arriva still uses optare solos for the 14, 15, 23, 26 and 27 routes :p
the bus is actually pretty modern inside (except the back-) it would be so cool if they made this model in an ev way (also the SN57s are on 309 again) Always good videos, I watched your oldest bus one and loved it!
Oh yeah and I feel like they should do some more rerouting for the W12 to go via the village but keep it at Leytonstone but maybe go to the quiet side bus station (not the one by Leytonstone High Road)
It’s probably not TFLs fault, it’s probably Sadiq Khan wanting the solos off the road because “they have higher admissions” once again what ever he wants he will get

Wicked video! I filmed my own experience on this route around a month ago. I hadn’t been to Walthamstow Village at the time & I agree it’s lovely. I don’t necessarily like having buses on extremely narrow roads (the East Ham buses for this are worse though).
They use to have these on W5
I rode the W12 and I was pissed at the time always being covered...

W12 goes electric meaning that the Optare solos goes to the scrapyard and scrap them
