This game is looking really promising. The TDUConnect footage didnt give enough justice with the game, and this trailer is lot better than the previous ones we have gotten. Nice to see the progress Kylotonn has done with this game and I have my faith in for them to nail this game.
This looks very promising so far. Hope it won't be long until they release a beta demo for the game so i can get the chance to try it out and see if it does live up to my expectations.
It's got some awesome geometric detail on the environments. And the global illumination is on par with Forza Horizon 5. The foliage I think falls behind The Crew Motorfest though. The true magic here is that it achieved all that at 60fps! Starting with The Crew Motorfest, this is an awesome time to be a Forza Horizon 5 fan with no Xbox or PC. 😉
I'm still sour by what happened with WRC Generations but this game is looking interesting. The spirit of TDU is there along a really nice city world, good graphics and sounds. I just hope the driving is good because I genuinely feel like physics has taken the back seat with modern arcade racing/car games, it's either clunky realism like Forza Horizon or overly arcade like NFS and The Crew. I miss the days of early 2000s NFS, ToCA RD 1, and a few others, where it was basically realistic driving but with more grip, downforce and simpler suspension, that's what I hope TDU SC is.
Yep, the issues with WRC Generations were out of KT's hands, but they get blamed and cannot respond. Such a shame as they had so much passion for the WRC project, and the version with this new engine would have been spectacular, las it wasn't to be. Handling is on the right path, it is very much like WRC but with more approachable weight transfer.
@@TeamVVV Genuinely curious, how come the issues with WRCG were out of KT's hands? Did it involve the WRC license debacle? I'm guessing it did, but I'm not aware of how that can affect fixes and patches. WRC did show incredible growth and if one fail is all it took to have a potentially great game on our hands, with TDU SC, I could say that's fair.
Unfortunately there are stories that will never be known and this is one of them. But there are all kinds of issues developers have with third parties, rights holders and hardware manufacturers that gamers never know about and it's the developers that end up getting it in the neck.
Looks nice enough, but the way the external camera is setup doesn't relay the dynamics of the car very well at all, and the way the car moves doesn't look very dynamic or engaging atm, hopefully these points will improve as they get deeper into development. Graphics look really pretty and the game already looks in a good state for Alpha. Come on Roman, you guys can make this awesome.
Really liking what im seeing so far. Nice to see a openworld driving game with nice narrow technical roads should be great fun in small lightweight sports cars that dont have a ton of power and downforce. Its my biggest issue with cursing in say FH is that the roads all feel like a racetrack even the backroads.
It does looks really good, crusing like this reminds me of TDU2 for sure. But the issue right away i see is how would we use that menu wheel on a wheel setup rig 😞
If nothing else it certainly looks like this allow us to leave the headache of dealing with TDU2 DRM behind and be a worthy replacement for that. Which would already be something, but I'm hoping for more. Looking at the mini-map it looks like they've taken inspiration from The Crew with various side activities to fill out what would otherwise be "empty" cruising sections (even if lots of environmental clutter is present) and I like that, although at the same time I am hoping we get the ability to disable them just as they clearly are in this footage because eventually you don't want to trigger them anymore, like how I'll go offroad around the start of any drift section in FH5.
been waiting for your gameplay review of TDU SC for some time Alan. hope you're well. I could tell you had a more unbiased opinion from this game than everyone else on that previous offline multiplayer reveal. I really think this game is going in the right way with its neat features and overall presentation. btw is it normal there were no pedestrians in this trailer also? apart from the low framerate in the rearview mirror, everything else is a breath of fresh air compared with what we had of SC so far. the map seems amazing. cant wait to see more trailers and details of this game, really hope it delivers!
Yes, all of those small details tend to come later in a build. Framerate, lighting, particle effects and various fine details are late additions in development. These days I find you literally have to wait till the day 1 patch to fully appreciate a game. But rest assured devs are working hard to make the core game a solid experience and it's all looking good so far.
I had Test Drive on the Commodore Amiga A600, TD4 on PS1, & TD:Unlimited on PSP. The PSP port was excellent for such a massive game. I hope that great things will result from this new Test Drive game! (Summer '24?!?)🤔
With the automotive future being almost silent and soulless electric cars it makes me wonder about the future of car racing games. A huge part of the experience is the sound and revving the engine to the sweet spot before engaging the next up shift or down as you enter the corner, none of that exists in electric cars. Right now every new racing game comes out featuring the latest cars and some older classics, will the future end up being just the old cars with updated tracks and better graphics, and hopefully physics?
I don't think we'll have to worry about that for games in the foreseeable future. Ultimately, developers are often guided by what is popular. And cars with combustion engines still have a lot of fans. If there's a good mix of old and new, combustion, electric or whatever, I'm happy.

Maybe the impression is deceiving, because it is still an alpha version, but with the trailer video about 1 year ago, they have stoked high expectations graphically. My impression is that the game is graphically on Forza Horizon 3 level. I would even say that Forza Horizon 3 (from 2016) is graphically even better. Regarding the driving physics, I can't judge that. I expect more from a game that will be released in 2024. It may be that a small or smaller developer studio doesn't have the corresponding resources, but the question remains whether it can compete with the top dog in the genre? Just so no one misunderstands me: it will certainly have its place and find its audience. The game looks good so far, it makes a good impression overall, but still I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe/probably because of my own expectations, which I had for the game.
Sure, that was a pre-rendered trailer, so they are often always beyond console tech. You graphical comparison is difficult to compare, because that was a much smaller map, far less roads, far less complex, far less physics. All compared to an Alpha build, we never saw any FH Alpha builds for comparison. Based on your expectations, FH is a market leader on graphics with a much smaller map despite way more investment, 12 years of production. The idea that every or any third party open world title can complete with that is simply unrealistic. In that sense, given the limited dev time, limited budget, small team, TDUSC at this stage is already performing way beyond any realistic expectations.
Thanks for your reply and your opinion on this. You may probably be right, Alan. I hope I'll be positively surprised when the final version hits the market. Let's keep our fingers crossed. 🤞
