What kind of things in a app drain more battery? Is it UI or more IO operation or what?

Nice conversation, but not enough solutions.

Android is working hard on it. But Android can never fix the battery drain problem. Why? Because, Android upgrade once a year. Every year Android improve the power control tools. But in the whole year, apps which cause the battery drain will find a way to drain the battery, but Android need another year to fix this. So Android should always be a loser in this battle.
So Why don't you make it a app so you can upgrade the app every month?
Also, Android always showing battery drain with some reason you don't know. The only thing you can do is a factory reset and hope that you have backup everything and pray for after that reset it works.

Google needs to hire better engineers to create more efficient android libraries. The libraries written are cpu intensive and very power draining. Google engineers need to optimize things in C and not get lazy building libraries on top of inefficient libraries. They compound in making apps power hungry.

I think the main issue is app developers themselves need to better optimise their apps.
