Of all the bosses to have this theme, Father sticks with me the most. Between his insta-kill gimmick and his increasingly unhinged voice acting as the fight goes on, this theme makes an already intense encounter even more so.
Before Father's flashback, Throne is like "I'm gonna kill you and take your key, old fart." - cool as a cucumber and all business. After the flashback, however... You can actually HEAR the fear in her voice as she pleads with Father not to force her to kill him
This theme was for the bosses with a slightly more serious undertone. There tends to be something more critical on the line, like someone's well-being or even their life.
I too had that impression when listening to this in each boss. Either someone was going to die, or their mental state has or was about to be broken for good, with a few it was kind of both.
This plays for the following bosses: Dark Entity Glacis Sand Lion Mother Father Grieving Golem Giff Thurston Duorduor Veronica Vados the Architect Deputy Cubaryi Ritsu Mishuyo
Always felt like this theme should have been reserved for the more serious bosses who had more build-up and severity. Critical clash 2 is like the "hell yeah, boss fight time," whereas this theme is "oh dear, this just got serious." I'd have switched Vados, Duorduor, and Giff to CC2 and put Pirro, Rai Mei, and Felvarg with CC1.
@@Killerkriskg I agree with that except for Vados and Felvarg personally. With Felvarg, the battle isn’t as serious as Temenos quickly determines that it was just a tool used by the culprit. With Vados, he’s not only the one who killed Jorg but has also killed two more people and is clearly part of a much larger plot, so I think the more intense CC1 fits there.
@medmax5941 I found Felvarg had a very haunting aura to its arrival. A large monster lurking in a dark church after just murdering the pontiff, giving the sense of dread that this is a killer beast. Vados is a panicking goon who only retaliates as a last resort despite already getting caught. Not too dissimilar to Bandelam, who fights again despite the conclusion of the tournament.
I agree if you play ace attorney insvetigation 2 this ost is kinda like confrontation - presto 2011, the first time you hear it you dont like it but the more you hear it the more you realize its a really good soundtrack
I'm gonna have to do a whole new run in Octopath 2, just to hear all the godly battle themes. And to actually beat _you-know-who_ this time around lmao
That goddamn thing....how is it not easily beat with the other secret jobs?! Drove me nuts! If it's what I think it is, I'm determined to kill it this time!
This was probably the only intro boss that actually caused a game over due to not exactly understanding how her mechanics worked. second time around though It was pretty clear that she can be a power house in the party.
I find Decisive and Critical 1 (especially Critical Clash 1) to be quite under-rated. Even whenever official arrangements come out, none of the first variants of boss battles ever get remixed. And people only ever talk about Decisive or Critical 2. To be fair, they're all very good and the second variants are catchier, but Critical 2 alone has been arranged in all three arrangement albums. Give Critical 1 some love, please...
Looking back at this video again make me wish that they dont actually went too heavy with the lighting because it make the color of the sprites a bit too blue-ish

Father was a very memorable boss no doubt about that
I'm suck at turn based, and glad I'm not over leveled while fighting father.

Octopath themes are criminally unrecognized
The violinist going OFF. Like, string-shredding full power. I love it!
Is saving it's Boost Point to take a critical
Thank you so much for your playlist, the fitting video game footage of all your videos - it sure was a lot of work and is appreciated! :)

I didnt even notice this was Roi! The layers of story in this game is amazing
Yeah it's a bit hard to notice with all the lighting but when you go see the actual sprite the color of the tathered cloth make sense
So does that make roi the Graham crossford of octopath II
I love from this part 1:52 . It's so poetic it gives me goosebumps
This plays for the following bosses:
Dark Entity
Glacis
Sand Lion
Mother
Father
Grieving Golem
Giff
Thurston
Duorduor
Veronica
Vados the Architect
Deputy Cubaryi
Ritsu Mishuyo
Ritsu's first theme is this. His second battle theme is Fierce Confrontation.
@@s0larisytYou’re right. Technically that boss is “General Ritsu” so it’s not the same though.

Why in gods green earth does my brain associate this song with THURSTON of all bosses?...
lol I associated this song with him first too.😂
@@Ashin1O3Ome too 😅 And it was the first boss battle i lost.
Because his "shield" is actually durable and he resummons it various times?
He's a good boss, tho.
You know the music is good when you watch a video and it gives you frickin goosebumps
This is one of the greatest boss themes ever created. It may have played a lot during the later chapters, but it fits every boss fight perfectly.

@@fukaze2021Heh, while we are talking about ace attorney, there’s a short part of Hikari’s theme that sounds like Great Revival
One of my favorites is the boss theme from final fantasy 9.

I love the sticatto descent from 1:27-1:33.
did you ever notice that this boss is Roi, Temenos' old cleric friend?
No, thank you! Just thought it was a random boss. Now it is more meaningful 🙂(🙁)
@MaxiGT1the words he says “can’t trust” it matches roi, and if you look closely, it has the cleric robes but torn
Came here to listen to epic music.
Found more about the tragic story of one character.
Damn. 💀💀💀
@@heroofjustice2728o i can’t see the cleric robes torn… but i trust you
@@kevtyngames1733it’s hard to see the robes due to the darkness of the area. Looking at the sprite by itself, it’s pretty easy to spot them.

This theme was so great inhad to hunt it down and listen. Thabk you.
I might gonna use this for in my by the numbers list 10,000 remastered version 1750 - 1701

Is it ok to say this a vastly big improvement from decisive battle 1
Yes and no. Yes because this is good but no because both octopath's boss themes sound amazing that its hard to pick which 1 is better imo.
por que no los dos?
Both games have a stellar soundtrack...so yes and no
Bruh Decisive battle 1 hardly sounds like a boss theme. It sounds way too “fun.” Compared to this it’s really underwhelming
Shit sound like a elder Dragon's battle shout out MH lol
