hearing luffy scream "battle-axe" with more conviction and fury than most actual anime I've seen was really nice, guy put his whole heart and soul into that stomp and you could feel it
Bruh that was the cringiest part
Bro, it was good but it wasn’t “that” good
@@jonathanmolina1428im cringing on you
@@eianoespolon2980 lol ok
Nope, it wasn't better than the anime, it never will be. Still a good show, though.
Can’t deny how perfect that battle axe finisher looked in live action.
🤮
Perfection. 😢
Kid
The actor who played Arlong deserves more credit. He really killed it playing a vicious villain
He killed it until he said “No puny human, can bring down ArLoNg PoOoOoRk!!”
@@Sindak923yeah that park was really weird
@@nategamerk721 The whole One Piece world is weird, what do you mean?
@@Sindak923 He still sounds intimidating.
@@AdamRee-lx8uh I mean when he said park not the actual arlong park
The way Inaki screams battle axe is so freaking good it gave me chills!!! Fingers crossed more seasons will come and one day we hear him screaming jet gatling gun...
Well, we already have season 2 confirmed (we ll have to wait after the strike however to get it)
The most difficult part for this adaptation is the budget.
Season 1 is already one of the more expensive shows ever made and we're only at the start with no Logia and Zoan users...
If the show is still a running success everything should be fine and I'm definitely sure that season 2 will be a huge success too because the crew is such a loveable group of people and you feel the heart and soul of this adaptation but I think season 3 is the point where the hype slowly decreases while the show keeps getting more expensive.
@@cannabishornliu6119 knowing season 2 have chopper and giants little garden +maybe crocodile, its going to be more heavy cgi than season 1
Iñaki's battle cry came from the soul surely
That battle axe was god tier well executed
Also, he used his thick Spanish accent whenever he said the moves since he's Mexican in real life
@@margarethmichelina5146actually he's brazilian
@@Darkrepulser1024Inaki said he’s Mexican in an interview so I’m gonna take his word on that.
@@rasengdori13 luffys nationality is brazilian so I must be confused
That Battle-Axe cry came from the soul god damn! That shit gave me goosebumps!
This guy IS luffy. That’s a given now. Just like RDJ as iron man I can’t see anyone else playing this character. Well done everyone. This show was truly something else. Oda sensei, you did it again sir🫡
I love the show, but I agree with the haters that the maybe I can’t beat you line is way out of character for luffy. The show is great, but seeing luffy doubt himself this early is troubling. The doubt should come after a long streak of wins that gets broken repeatedly.
Still am loving this show and with how they did gattling I know storm against crocodile will be great too.
@@djco8919 maybe this is the route they are taking with the Netflix show. I’m sure in season two. He will be far more confident. This is because by the end of the season I feel like he knows his role and his responsibilities as captain. He doubted himself and still succeeded in the end. This is good character development in my eyes. As a pose to an unbearable man character.
@@sezergarip1453 they can do this if they want. I am just saying doubt without a crushing defeat feels alien to Luffy’s character to me.
@@djco8919Arlong literally kicked his shit in and threw him in the ocean during the Baratie arc. What kind of "without crushing defeat" are you talking about?
@@Dynamo33 allow me to rephrase then. The reason the crushing defeats in the one piece anime are so painful is because after watching luffy beat enemy after enemy island after island just to lose his goal so painfully makes a crushing defeat.
Luffy losing to crocodile was not a crushing defeat because his goal was still in front of him. Get back up and save alabasta.
Luffy losing ace is a crushing defeat because his goal is lost. This especially hurts after all we went through to save ace. Island of women. Impel down. Marineford. Everywhere we were taking wins with a few minor loses. Then to get crushed like that hurts.
To sum it up. Defeating luffy means nothing. Destroying his goal is what creates a crushing defeat. Those are moments where luffy almost cannot get back up and they come after a string of wins to make luffy feel immortal. The live action did not make luffy feel immortal.
1:41 They realised how small arlong seems so they made him like 50% bigger in this shot than in the trailer. Look it up yourself!
You're right, they did, I opened the stills up side by side and the difference is crazy. Arlong looked so silly beforehand and now he looks menacing.
Never was a big fan of the anime, but this adaption is right up my sleeve. The dynamic of the straw hat crew is fantastic, they really casted likable actors and this final was a really intense culmination. A great series.
Same. Basically it contains everything that I liked from the anime and none of the stuff that I disliked.
You took the words right outta my mouth!! I’m really digging this adaptation- it took the best parts of the original
Exactly I enjoy the anime sometimes but this I like way better gives me more pirates of the Caribbean vibes but with the straw hat crew
yeah just finished this. Can finally say I am waiting for season 2!
@@julia3983able best part of the original?? dont disrespect Chouchou like that, also "walk to arlong park" is missing, Nami's backstory was rushed and ussopp didnt do much in syrup village. This adaptation is great, and fun but i wouldnt say better
The live action version of Luffy vs Arlong was done really well. ❤❤❤
Indeed. 😊
So true it's my favorite
I missed the part where arlong starts biting luffy and luffy breaks his sword nose.
@@dennism.5145 Me too. I missed that part too.
Facts😊👍
Doesn't matter how many years pass. Arlong getting his ass stomped is never going to get old.
My favorite comment review on live-action One Piece is that
"It could've been better, but it could have also been 100x worse!"
This is adaptation is definitely a win.
Your comment captures the way critics think when they write their reviews very well.
"It's not shit, it's almost shit. 9/10"
Idc what yall say, this live action got me to start binging the anime 🔥
After I finished live action I started the anomie I’m now a 658 😂
I stopped for a while becasue I was binging way too much and over One Pieced myself. I was on season 12 i believe. This Live Action did get me back on the grind.
@@wesman6445 Hope you know One Piece is not a Seasonal Anime but a weekly one, the fans calls it by the Arcs not Seasons ahaha. I know Netflix strangely add a season number to it but none of us One Piece fans ever think of the series in seasons aha. Ps make sure if you watch Netflix do not watch EP 1089 egghead as Netflix skipped too much you need a other source to watch the rest first
That battle-axe delivery was fucking incredible
I Overall liked it but i think Arlong should've bitten Luffy at least once. It was a quite crucial part of their fight
Yes I didn't watched it only with clips but don't he also use his signature shark on darts technique?
Honestly I feel like it was better to play it safe. Animating Arlong bitting through everything would probably look super goofy in real life especially since his jaw in the show isn’t that wide
@@zarrstrudeltributemaker314Shark dart would look a bit weird in live action. But I agree that he should've bit Luffy, Arlong was nerfed a lot here .
@@hyperbolicathletes well, I didn’t mean to that extent. But in the anime he bites Luffy in the shoulder or when Luffy does the finishing move, he bites him in the side right before it. I felt like it would’ve raised the stakes if he had bitten him once.
I also feel like because they left out the biting that had to reduce Luffy‘s ability to withstand kicks and hits etc. Because Luffy is a rubber person he shouldn’t feel pain from being hit, which is why his first opponents all have knives on them or at least sth sharp (e.g. teeth).
@@Saleem__786luffy was also nerfed, luffy was beating arlong all over the place in the anime and manga, also luffy never said “maybe I can’t beat you but I can destroy what you’ve built” , he said something about destroying everything but not about if he could beat arlong or not, luffy was stronger and more badass in the anime and manga without a doubt. They made it seem like zoro is stronger in the live action.
I felt that gum gum battle axe in my mf soul 💯👌🏼🖤
That scream was DBZ level
Arlong Park is peak East Blue
@@HerooftheWildseriously. It's the arc that makes me fall in love with the series.

2:04 gum-gum!!......BATTLE AXE!!!!!!!
It was peak
Bat owl Axe
The guy playing Arlong stole every scene he was in! Well done. I hope he gets nominated and wins several awards. He really made the show for me
When I first started watching, i didnt think i would get used to inakis voice as luffy since I watch dub, but im actually starting to like him more than the dub. That battle axe cry was straight fiiiiiiiire
Be serious
@@TheDevos1dead serious, that line was absolutely incredibly well delivered
Same here bro
2:08 this is when the actor earned my respect as luffy
Honestly they should replace English dub luffy with him
Nah bro I love Iñaki but don’t disrespect Colleen like that, she has screamed her heart out in hella dub scenes
Really watched this series with very low expectations. Surprisingly I caught myself watching the next episode immediately as one was finished. Its really good, given I was nitpicking most of the time, and I really can't wait for season 2.
Now that’s a front page review. Will check it out despite my initial reluctance
If Luffy really wanted to get under Arlong's scales he should've punched the lamps to set fire to all the maps. Also, I like the delivery of 1:53, because you can hear Arlong's inner child crying over his dream falling apart.
I agree such a wasted potential
I love how they did the Gum Gum Gatling Gun.
Luffy was great in this
I love how the top comments are praising this fight to high heaven and all the haters are down in the bottom comments. 😂
Certainly the best anime to live action adaptation but there was more emotion to the fight when Luffy started tearing it down to release Nami and then taking Arloong's bite straight on.
Voice work from all actors were excellent.
The anime right
when he popped out of the broken building it was so badass
Just imagine him yelling gum gum Storm against crocodile
I just can't wait for season 2
If they can learn from how they did this fight, and they keep the quality going, imagine what Enies Lobby could become.
Man, now you got my expectations for Lucci and Gear 2nd high.😭
Loved the battle axe, epic as hell.
Everyone’s talking about the battle axe while I’m geeking over Gatling
“Maybe I can’t beat you, but I can destroy everything you built”
Proceeds to do both at the same time.
I guess you could say that Luffy's live-action actor did such a good job with this fight scene, that he really... BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN??? 🙂
I don’t know how many takes it took. But that battle cry was perfect.
If this is how he screams battle axe, I don't think ill be able to handle Jet Gattling
Of all the animes I never thought one piece would break the anime live action curse lol
I loved the Gatling gun. the sound effects were a great touch.
Bro this was the best fight I saw in the live action ❤
Im loving the live action series. Cant wait for the next season.
grrrr! netflix!! this is your fault why I can't finish my research paper😂
“GUM GUM BATTLE AXE” is perfect😂
I thought live action anime would be super fucking cringe with the move callouts... I had my arms in the air, laughing, and crying, during the battle axe moment. Grew up with the manga and anime, this show was so fucking good. I'm so happy it's gotten renewed for season 2
Amazing, the realy went hard with this adaptation😭
I was worried when I first saw arlong in the trailer, since be looked a bit small, but holy shit his actor nailed the role, he was so intimidating.
be it anime or live action, seeing the building come crashing down always brings a smile to my face ^^
This is what happen when Passion, NOT budget, runs the show.
IT'S AMAZING
Nah I got chills with the ending him stomping and hearing him yell wow just wow amazing show
"We can't make the actor do a jumping buzzsaw, that's hazardous."
"Idea. We show the buzzsaw and just skip to the breaking of it."
that gum gatling looked hella clean
This is the final one lets go nice one
The live action is so good…have to watch the anime noww
Honestly, they understood the assignment here. Well done to this adaptation.
This gives me goosebumps anytime i want it
it's great that guy playing luffy is a one piece fan
The fight was great! I just wish there was a bit more of it. Wanted to see the Arlington bite and nose break haha. Still good though
after 8 of these episodes i start watching anime my first time
I really hope episode 9 is released, can't wait
This is fucking insane how good it is and how close to subject matter...bravo straw hats ..bravo!
God I love the Gum Gum Gattling. It's my favorite fighting move
They finally perfected how to do anime in live action. They said it couldn’t be done but by gum they’ve done it
Ever single actor is absolutely perfect for this show 😎
They did a pretty decent job adapting this fight
It doesn’t hit every note but it’s pretty good
omg its beautifull!!!! OMGGGG !!
Much and I mean MUCH BETTER that most Hollywood productions
Wish Luffy got bit like in the Manga
luffy is what like oda said..
They nailed the gum gum Gatling I'll say that !
Arlong was actually good , I definitely had my doubts about him
I’ll admit the shouting of the names of the fighting moves just like in the anime was a tad funny (I understand why some ppl would find it cringy)… BUT other than that I think this show was worth watching. Though not a big fan of the anime, I loved the live action- which I think is pretty rare. I have a feeling that there are quite a few ppl like me who either didn’t know or was lukewarm about the anime and yet found this show pretty entertaining.
It could’ve been really bad - in my opinion anime doesn’t really translate well to live action - but this show did a decent job. And a lot of that is thanks to an amazing cast (including some of the more minor characters like Mihawk and Vice Admiral). They interpreted the characters really well!
Waiting for season 2 and hoping it’s just as good
The last thing arlong heard from luffy: *_"BATTLEAXE!!!"_*
BATTLE AXEEEE!!! awesome scene
Im not crying your crying😊
Go, Luffy! Go!
Luffy was more angrier in the anime when he's fighting Arlong. Here it seems like he's not being serious that much since he's kinda smiling on their conversation but this live action was still a good adaptation of the anime.
luffy was much smilier and sillier in the anime what are you talking about
@@cwega2463 He became so angry towards the end bro. He actually destroys the place because deep inside he understood this is where Nami had suffered since childhood.
@@unnirajac8617 and he also gets angry and destroys arlong park in the live action (with the same move too) so i don’t get your point.
@@cwega2463 He didn’t destroy it for the same reason. He just destroyed it suddenly. Whereas in anime when Arlong overpowers him he starts noticing the room and in his mind he kind of understands the pain she went through and he explodes like a Volcano. That scene was really impactful. If anime version was a slow burn then the live action was too faced paced especially the arlong park. They should have added more episodes in that arc.
@@unnirajac8617 so you’re literally admitting it was for the same reason, he just realised it in a different way. you can prefer the anime that’s fine, but saying the live action had luffy just do shit randomly is simply untrue. he goes to fight arlong for nami after knowing what she went through. they went to the centre of the palace together, nami ran out of fear, so luffy fought arlong, then he decided to bring down arlong park since he probably couldn’t defeat him through strength alone.
O.m.G Arlong. His Voice crack like he gonna cry because his carryings about to be destroyed.
It was my least favourite fight so far. Expected Aarlong to bite at least once, it was disappointing it didn't happen.
Idk if they'll make whole anime as live action but they should
helluva fight, really brought down the house
bro luffy using gum gum pistol hitting arlong in the face made me roll on the ground
2:13 EVERYBODY
EVERYBODY
EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT
Cool. Is he a sawshark or a sawfish
Haven't seen the anime but id love to see more moves like battle axe and gatling next season instead of gum gum pistol all the time. Im sure there alot more ways for him to use the stretch in fights.
i actually can’t wait for you to see how powerful luffy becomes. it goes beyond just new gum gum moves. that’s all i’m going to say.
He sent him flying through every floor 😂😂
One piece fan but can get into the live action. Manga is my favourite.
I just watched the climax of the original fight in the anime, and compared it to this. This climax was actually more dramatic.
This arlong park live action make me more appreciate arlong park in the anime,
Its sad that they left out the tentacle guy, him gettin shot is the reason luffy punches that celestial dragon later on
Oh hell yes. One of, if not the most satisfying scenes in the anime, and it absolutely needs to be brought to justice. Hatchan was also hella relevant in fish man island too so leaving him out was quite weird but understandable because of cgi reasons
In the manga and anime : Luffy destroy the thing realted to Nami's map and workplace
But live action just destrying the place, it failed to deliver the heart-wrenching moment
But it cant be helped
in the live action it also related to nami? did you even watch it? that’s the whole point of the arc. he does it for nami.
or do you need the live action to constantly flash back during fights to clips of nami crying to get it into your head that he is defending her? are you that dense?
@@cwega2463 No that's not what he said. Luffy actually look at this place and understand that all the sufferings Nami suffered started from this place. It is even more detailed. He gets enraged and destroys everything.
@@unnirajac8617 if you need exaggerated anime expressions to get it across emotions to you instead of normal and nuanced acting and expressions, then you’re just an idiot
2:39 NEED to know the name of that OST 😭😭
Fight 8/10
Battle axe 9/10
Gatling gun 10/10
Now this is interesting. If you look at how luffy broke the sword. First he snapped the blade like in the anime. But he broke it the same way he broke Arlongs nose in the anime and manga.
Nice touch with that.
Gum gum Gatling hit different
1:06 they shouldve use this sound effects whenever luffy punches
This fight was a huge let down, I wish it was more like the manga.
Good day thanks for the support and help 🙂
Personally I don’t much care for this adaptation but hey I’m glad everyone else likes it and hopefully since this adaptation follows the source material quite well this is just the first in a long line of future adaptations that follow the same path and not just get picked apart by studios who think they know what the fans want
I hope to be alive to watch one day the fight of Luffy against Rob Lucci...
