What the audience gave there - complete silence and focus and appreciative applause at the end... now that’s what you want as a musician when in a recorded session. I know it may look strange, but properly listening like that is the highest form of appreciation in this context
My Great Grandfather, whom I never met, was from Cork, Ireland, and from what I hear...played "a mean fiddle". Inasmuch as he passed away 5 years before I was even born, I'll never get to hear him play but this will get me closer than I've ever been before to hearing what he very well may have played while friends and family were gathered 'round for an evening! Thank you!
It's not a mosh pit bollock breath, these people are quietly appreciating the music like civilized adults. What the fuck you want head banging and air guitar from them? go smoke a tea bag and chill
Conor H On the contrary; I do Irish dance & am learning to play Irish music (& have played other forms of music before), & I know that any show is better for the performer when you can tell that the audience is enjoying it.
When I was a student I used to go into a proper Irish pub in Manchester (which has sadly been knocked down now) and people just turned up and played. Sometimes they weren't that good but sometimes they were great and I loved the spontaneity of it. I now live in the Yorkshire countryside and there aren't any Irish people or much music for that matter. I miss it.
Yes, they are. Fortunately, most of the people are tolerant ... England (London, Birmingham, Manchester) is know for his authentic Irish pubs with a high level of traditional Irish music.
I'm Irish but I know that there are great reels and hornpipes in North England and Scotland which the Irish love to play - "Miss McCleod of Rassay", "Bonnie Kate", "The High Level Hornpipe" and many more. It's a shared Culture.
I am so upset when I was younger my mom bought a cd from Crackle Barrel restaurant. I think it was called the Fiddle and Flute. Not sure. I cant find the cd anywhere. I cant even find it online. It was a dark colored cd with flutes and fiddles on the cover. It sounded like this. There was even parts in the cd where this lady sang in another langue. It was the most beautiful music I ever heard. It made me feel so good listening.
Send an email to claddaghrecords.com they will find that cd for you/look through their listings. Give them as many details as possible eg: the year you found the cd (as can think of half dozen cd's with that kind of cover). Most forms of 'traditional music' eg: irish, breton, scottish, cape breton, northumbrian, welsh are living traditions and the internet is only the tip of the iceberg does not catch most of the stuff out there.
They are not "doing nothing". They are listening to a masterpiece of music. Don't forget that it was a recorded session. Quietness is not an option ...
I started listening to Irish folk after Lord of the rings ))) I fucking love it! It's like Get the fuck out and search for some adventures!!! )) but when you get out there is no one... fucking 21 century sucks
I've got a question... how exactly is this flute called? I'm playing a cross flute for the last 19 years and would love to get one of these wooden (or how do you call it in english?) cross flutes, too! They sound so beautiful.... I'd like one that Matt Molloy played. Is it just called "Irish Flute"? Sorry, I've got no clue... Would be nice if anyone's got a name or a link to a site where I can buy such a flute in Germany... (perhaps Amazon?). Thanks guys!
Simple models have no keys. Only 6 plain holes, just like a tin-whistle in D. The "natural" notes are the scale of D major (D E F# G A B C# on two octaves). The C and the Bb can be achieved with "forks", but the other missing notes (G#, F, Eb) are difficult (half-holes), hence the keys to get the missing notes more easily. Because 5 notes are missing, the usual set has 5 keys. But for ergonomical reasons, some of the keys are "doubles" (short key, long key). So you can have 6 or more. Not to mention an C extenstion that allow some low notes like C# and C (even B on some Austrian flutes).

It is a recorded session. The public is not free to do what it wants. The main goal here is to have a clear sound and à quiet audience...
Finally I find somebody who has the brain to deduct it. Everyone in here is conspirating about nonsense things. Thanks for telling us
And I thought it was just a german audience :D
Ngl the contrast is quite funny. Happy music met with serious staring.
love Irish music. What a happy audience 😂
This music always makes me wanna get up and dance, or at least clap along. It really speaks to my soul and makes me happy!
me too
Absolutely!
Oh absolutely. It's just SO joyful 😍😍😍🎵
I'm Celtic Irish and I feel it was made this way for that reason! To bring joy and good energy
Irish music is my favorite 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
Pleasent flute and fiddle music. An admirer from India.
I'll be blasting this as soon as the sun warms my front windows and the birds sing.
Indeed!
Traditional Irish music as good as you'll find.
My Great Grandfather, whom I never met, was from Cork, Ireland, and from what I hear...played "a mean fiddle". theres just something that i love about irish music but i cant figure out what it is
Mark Mars Irish music doesn’t use the pentatonic scale, it uses modal scales
Irish music uses pentatonic scales AND modal scales. See Egan's Polka or Britches Full of Stitches as pentatonic scale examples.
Me too I'm just being happy when I listening to this music
I feel the same!
The flute & fiddle. The perfect melody of the flute as well as the recurring rhythm and melody of the fiddle. Perfect for dancing
These two lovely musicians are very easy on the ear, great music altogether.
These unison ornaments are so fuckin clean, damn
Makes me just happy hearing this music. It pours directly in my heart. Thank you.
Wow. That crowd looks so into their performance.
Julian Weller Fuck you, dude. They're giving an awesome show, here, & the crowd is giving them nothing.
It's not a mosh pit bollock breath, these people are quietly appreciating the music like civilized adults. What the fuck you want head banging and air guitar from them? go smoke a tea bag and chill
Julian Weller How about a smile, or just looking like they're even paying attention?
Julian Weller he clearly knows nothing about irish music
Conor H On the contrary; I do Irish dance & am learning to play Irish music (& have played other forms of music before), & I know that any show is better for the performer when you can tell that the audience is enjoying it.
This music is thriving and soothing the same time

There's no such thing as a fucking Irish pub in orange country
Yes, they are. Fortunately, most of the people are tolerant ... England (London, Birmingham, Manchester) is know for his authentic Irish pubs with a high level of traditional Irish music.
Come to Ireland then. We got no dearth of irish pubs
I'm Irish but I know that there are great reels and hornpipes in North England and Scotland which the Irish love to play - "Miss McCleod of Rassay", "Bonnie Kate", "The High Level Hornpipe" and many more. It's a shared Culture.

most likely Irish Gaelic, or another form of Gaelic if it was paired with this music.
...sounds like you need spotify. :-) Try starting with Flook and related artists

Sounds just like the music from the bar in GTA 4 where you play Darts.
الشعب الايرلندي عظيم انا احب الرقص الشعبي الايرلندي والمزمار الايرلندي كثيرا
You dont need big equipment for to make some good music. Just musicians...
Very true !
just so you know a flute like that starts around 4 thousand dollars give or take. lol
*Sitting there and doing nothing seems to be the irish translation of "flipping out".*
They are not "doing nothing". They are listening to a masterpiece of music. Don't forget that it was a recorded session. Quietness is not an option ...
I don't know why I keep getting surprised by him not speaking English at the end.

What language is he speaking?...
Please give me an answer, if you know what language he's speaking...
That's the native Irish language Gaelic, although I think his accent maybe a bit… strange?
Aye its Irish and its not called Gaelic, Gaelic is a culture not a language. The accent sounds a bit Midlands mixed with West. Im Irish
Most likely Irish lol
It's Gaelic
must be an Eb flute?
I've got a question... how exactly is this flute called? +DalyahArani It's called an Irish flute. This one is a keyed one. Many Irish flutemakers such as Casey Burns and Martin Doyle ship to Germany.
+Sadimal Thank you very much :)
It's a tin whistle or Flue not 100%
What is this piece called? I'd like to find the sheet music for it.
fine!!!!!!
New Irish D Flute With 6 Keys? I want to buy one but I don't know the difference between those Irish flutes...
Simple models have no keys. Only 6 plain holes, just like a tin-whistle in D.
